I was replacing a worn out shoe wirh new and the wide seemed to have gotten even wider so the front is a bit clunky and I strike the shoes in passing. But I still like the softness and needed a new shoe. Last pair was better. I tried to order odf of the tag.

I've been wearing Hoka Speedgoat's for about 4 years, for hiking only. I hike 5 days a week. While the tread has always wore out fast, the last several pairs have eroded even faster. For the price I can't believe that there isn't a more durable rubber/plastic. Here I am filling out a survey on my recent Hoka purchase and several treads on each shoe have worn flat to the sole already. I've done the same hike with every pair, but this is a new record. Dried bubble gum has greater durability.

The color I chose shows up dirt easily. And I wish you could throw them in the washing machine for a easier wash but instead you have to hand wash them

I use the shoes for daily walkin 5-10 miles. The wide width makes these shoes very comfortable. However, Hoka could improve upon the soles durability as the tread wears off within about10 weeks.

I have 2 pair of these shoes, 1Fiesta / Radiant Yellow and I just purchased Castlerock / Flame hoping for the darker color but it's more of a gray than black or charcoal. What happened to the Duffel bag / Thyme color? very disappointed in the color option. I wont buy again unless I see something along the line of the Duffel bag / Thyme color, and I will probably return the Castlerock/Flame. I purchased both pair at Road Runner Sports online and shipped to me.

This is my 4th pair of Hoka's; however, my first pair of trail/hiking shoes. All my shoes are wide width but the trail shoes appear to be normal width even though the box and shoes shows they're wide width. As a result my left foot goes numb when riding my bike for long periods of 20 minutes or more. The shoe is quality except the width.

I like the shoe, it feels good, but it feels a little big. I always get a size 11 (half size bigger), but for some reason this shoe feels long and wide (big in general I guess). I have trouble getting it tight on my feet so there is a little play. On technical trails I felt like the edges would get caught, which made me less confident than in my other running shoes. Besides that, the shoe is comfortable (I want to like it) but I would probably not buy this pair again. Definitely is a quality shoe just might not be for me.

The good: Super comfortable. I'm 13 runs and 55 miles in to these shoes and my feet have never felt better. There was zero break in time. They felt great right out of the box. The Bad: As stated, I'm only 13 runs and 55 miles in and I'm already seeing significant wear on the soles. At the rate these soles are wearing, I'm not going to see 150 miles before they'll need to be replaced. That's just not cool.

I purchased these hokas because I like the previous version so much and wanted to get the same ones. However the new model is a tad narrower than the previous year. I can't wear them anymore.

Quality material. Super hot on my feet, especially the bottoms, and my feet dont walk/run hot normally. These are my first Hokas i got originally for hospital work 6 mi ea day. Im not a fan of thick soled shoes apparently. These feel like they artificially affect my step in a bad way. Then i took them home for 3-6 mi runs outside on streets and not only hot, but uncomfortable with blisters between toes. I thought id let em heal and try again (x3) but blisters back again. Tried lacing up tighter but still they dont fit me right even tho they r probly the right size. I feel they run too wide in the toe box plus theyre pitched in toward midline. I have a narrow foot with high arch. I will be going with Saucony from now on. These r going to my son.

I use for walking, not a true double E, the other thing dont like at all, is the tung it catches my wide foot every time and is a struggle to put on, why would you make a flimsy tung that is not sewn on at the edges!! very disappointed with my purchase!

I am at a point in my running career where I don't ache often, but my feet will hurt around 30-40 miles mark. I'd heard about how Hoka is cushy, so I thought I'd give SG5s a go. Initially I thought they were pretty good. They are quite comfortable, but I feel they are narrow, and I started to get hotspots near the ball of my foot at around 15 mile distance. I decided I wouldn't wear them for ultraruns since blisters are not something that I typically deal, which is unfortunate because the stability of the shoe for ankles is amazing. What is very NOT amazing is the tread. Did anyone even try these in the rain on a trail? They rank for the worst tread I've tried next to Altra Superiors. It is almost comical how much they slip on the tiniest flattest rocks and sticks when conditions are wet. I used to see people slipping around in Hokas in dry conditions, and I never bought a pair because of that, but all these positive reviews sold me. I will use these shoes for shorter dry runs and on the treadmill, but it'll likely be the last pair of Hokas that I own. I can't enjoy running when every step feels like it might end in distaster, and running uphill with feet slipping out is such an exhausting morale crusher.

Narrow and slightly shorter than expected. Also, the stiffened heel and extended heel/achilles area was uncomfortable.

I bought them to wear on trails and gravel when hiking. They are well made, with a thoughtful design, but the sides of the shoe hit my ankle bones. I wore them to the movies when I got them, and didn't notice the problem until they started to hurt during the movie. Unfortunately, they were not in new condition at that point, and could not be returned. I put in a pair of Protalus inserts, which elevate my feet in the shoes a bit, so I am hoping that makes them useable. I recommend walking around the house in them before wearing them outside. Since I have had several pair of HOKA running shoes, I did not anticipate any problems with fit.

Why ??? It's so frustrating. Speedgoat is probably the best trail.shoe ever created. I know many wild agree. The tongue particularly has been one of the most common failures in most brand shoes when it comes to ultra running and the Speedgoat 4 tackled that misfortune on target as nailed it...a dream come true. I haven't felt that problematic cutting the skin discomfort by the ankle in many years til my first run a few days ago with the Speedgoat 5 in only 3 miles of running... minimum of course but I felt it there and that is definitely a situation for longer training runs and races. Then they eliminated the hook by the heel which is so necessary specifically during races when you need the most assistance possible to deal with shoes. Please bring the Speedgoat 4 tongue back!!!! Stop destroying the best shoe. Here I am now trying to find Speedgoat 4 in the internet and even considering other brands ....so frustrating still so predictable. Was hoping the whole marketing trend of changing shoes drastically for the next model wouldn't hit Hoka and the Speedgoat.

I've had two pair of the Speedgoat 4'a and three of the 5's. They are very comfortable, reasonably sure footed, and pretty much healed my heal and arch issues. They run true to size and are great out of the box. However, I seem to only get 130-140 miles or about a month out of them before most of the sole is worn bald which is disappointing given the price and reputation. I run almost daily including in winter with some snow and ice.

Given Hoka's reputation for heavily padded soles, I was hoping that it might alleviate some of my heel pain (plantar fasciitis and bone spur) but no joy.

Checks all of the boxes, including available in wide, except not GTX. The comparable GTX Hoka is not available in wide - that would be the ultimate. Love the sticky Megagrip sole.

The new upper is more 'stretchy' this makes up for the lack of width in the 2E wides. As a wide foot runner, the SG4 was wide enough, but a side-by-side comparison makes the SG5 look much narrower. It honestly feels like my shoe is mis-labeled. The stretchy material gets REALLY stretchy when the uppers are even slightly wet. Best thing about these shoes is the mid sole. Great mix of cushion and power IMO. The flare tail is not ideal for two reasons, the heel lock isn't as good, and it is inviting for sand and pebbles to get into the shoe, the SG4 has the 5 beat in all categories except for weight. It's noticeably lighter. I wish weight was a concern if mine.
