I love this bag so much! I am using it as my everyday purse and it's the perfect size. I had wished the small was available in-store so I could compare it to the medium, but I just went for it and ordered it. Super thick, quality canvas!

After falling in love with my XL Boat & Tote, I purchased 3 more in other sizes (Medium & Large). We cannot get enough of these wonderful, sturdy tote bags! Never before has a tote bag been so well made and versatile enough to use in a million ways. These bags will last a lifetime and the iconic style is perfect regardless what you use it for. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

I just LOVE this tote. I have purchased 2 for myself and 3 to give as gifts! Since I have the LL Bean MasterCard, the Monograming/Name embroidery is free! I use mine to take my laundry down to the family room where we have our washer and dryer. I then use it to take the folded clean clothes back upstairs again. We have small closets, and store our seasonal clothing in the basement. I use it to carry clothes up and clothes down. It is a work horse! I purchased one for a friend who went to the shore every weekend--she stopped carrying a suitcase! I purchased 2 for my cousin and her husband who purchased a second home at the shore as their house warming gifts. They loved their Boat & Tote. Again, I just love this tote!!!

I've admired these classic tote bags for many years due to the quintessential New England style and reports from friends and shoppers of its amazing durability. This was my first purchase and I have to say, they were right! I love it so much that I just ordered three more in various sizes (2 large, 1 medium). This tote is virtually indestructible! It's sturdy and very well made. It holds far more weight than I can carry with absolutely no stress on the stitching and it's versatile too! We've used it for road trips, afternoons at the beach and as an overnight bag. Don't be intimidated by the price... these totes are worth every penny considering they will last for decades! Being able to choose the color and add names or monograms is an added bonus. The style never fails to draw positive attention from other shoppers. If you're looking for top quality, durability and iconic style, search no further - this is your bag. It's the best tote bag I've ever owned and I highly recommend it.

Absolutely the best quality materials and workmanship! Great size for my needs - can carry much weight because of the stength and quality of the materials and stitching. Long straps give the option to hand or shoulder carry without worry of it falling apart or disintigrating. This is my second bag, because I gifted my first after years of use to someone that I thought could continue to make good use of it. This is great for food shopping and not having to use plastic or paper bags.

I've given more of these canvas bags as gifts than I care to remember. Usually monogrammed, and almost always size M with the long handles which I think is the perfect size for work, school, a quick trip to the grocery store, etc. If you're new to L.L. Bean Boat & Totes, I want you to know that while that price point might seem steep for a simple canvas bag, the material is THICK and very sturdy and the handles soften over time as it adjusts the way you carry it. I prefer the open-top myself, but anyone who desires extra security should opt for the zippered version. Also, I've never had any complaints with monograms as they've always turned out wonderfully which is a huge relief!

I had a similar tote bag for years, but the handles wore out. This bag is a great bargain for the quality-- The fabric is thick and sturdy. It stands up, unlike other open bags that will fall over and dump the contents everywhere. The monogram is perfectly stitched. I don't know about cleaning it--time will tell, but I'm very happy to have this bag--the iconic L.L.Bean Boat and Tote.

Bought these because of: 1. The material. It's heavy and will stand up with heavy loads; 2. these look great. When other shoppers see them they comment; 3. Bought 5 and then added 2 more.

This is my third llbean tote and I love them. Almost indestructible!

We give these as gifts because we enjoy our own. Ours have lasted over 15 years and still carry everything we need to pack for picnics, the beach or the car. Great resilient tote.

This Medium canvas tote monogrammed with the baby's name is my go to gift for all the newbes born to my family and friends. The parent's LOVE it because the kids have their own bag to organize their stuff for day care or for outings! always a win!! just get the spelling of their name right!!!

This must be bag number at least 10 or 12 -- in many many years. They wear like iron, and I have them in every stage of use, from new to makes a good garbage can. Please never change these!

Perfect size and monogram. Delivery was very fast. It is exactly what I had expected. You can't beat the durability of this tote. I have 5 others and like to use these as personalized gifts.

I LOVE this bag. I know that may sound insane, but it is the best bag I've ever had. I love the durability of it. I can throw it in the washing machine if it gets dirty, which is a huge plus! I love the large size. It's perfect for packing up and heading to the beach.

I purchased 2 mini open top tote bags for my daughter's wedding. One for the bride and one for the groom! They used them for their dollar dance! And they were HIT!! I own several LL Bean tote bags , all different sizes, and I LOVE all of them!

A gift for my elderly mother with poor balance who carries a purse and a water bottle and uses a cane. This bag is rigid enough to not swing around when she walks. She likes the look of it too.

I've had the extra large with yellow trim for about 12 years. It holds up to everything!!! I hand wash and air dry and it's like brand new!!! I just ordered a medium size and wish I could have my name monogrammed instead of just initials like my yellow one! Worth its weight in gold!!

This is the second tote bag I have gotten from LL Bean. They are very durable and well made. I recommend them highly!

The pics are a little deceiving on these products so just know the measurements are for the flat base width, but the sides of the tote extend further out so it is larger than the measurements. This is a very big tote (purchased the extra large). I am 5'11" and weigh 200 lbs and this tote looks big when I carry it. But it's manageable and perfect for what I purchased it for (a beach tote to carry our portable pop up tent, towels, sunscreen, snorkel gear, snacks, water bottles, hats, books, speaker, etc). Room for it all. Stands upright, very stiff material. We love this bag! Will last a long time!

I bike everywhere and it holds the items inside so perfectly! The only thing is, white side gets dirty easy :( i need to find a way to wash it well. After you wash the structure distorts a little
