Perfect lightweight hiker

I took a 10-mile hike with these socks, and they kept my feet regulated and comfortableas comfortable as feet can be after walking 10 miles. Socks and shoes make a huge difference when you are doing stressful activities, so spend the money and get a great pair of socks; they can make up for a cheaper pair of shoes.

My husband is a farmer and is on his feet all day. He wears a cushion free liner and then a hiking sock on the outside. His feet stay cool and dry even when it's hot.

I am slowly transitioning more and more of my socks to Smartwool. It is clearly an investment, but the black and gray socks here can double as business casual on dark colored pants. I wish there were more solid colors. I am a female, jogging shoe size 7.5, and the Medium worked great. The women's versions of these are also great (I don't really understand the difference).

Casual dress

While I use them for hiking, I like to wear them as everyday wear as they are comfortable and durable. I have worn dozens of these over many years. One nit: When Smartwool change their product naming, they did nothing to let recurring buyers know what PhD's were now called.
