I was small in the shoulders and bust area. I would have liked to just exchange for a bigger size but the process is NOT easy. You must first return then re- purchase instead of just exchange. I really liked the coat but not the fit. I did not repurchase but would have if I could have just exchanged.

This coat is perfect! Not to heavy and bulky, not to thin. I can't wait to wear it to northern Michigan next month. It will be perfect.

Super warm and functional coat. I wear it all winter long!

It fits me but waist is tight, it will be good if cincher is adjustable

Love the jacket but it does run small , the jacket is slim fit , if you are looking to wear a sweater underneath go 2 sizes up than your regular size , did not have any issue with the hood or zipper as most people described here

The coat is just so warm!! It came just in time as we live in Buffalo,NY where we just had 77 inches of snow in 2 days!!!!!! I originally ordered the small as it is myusual size, however it was too snug across shoulders and waist. The medium fits great. I am 5'7 and weigh 120 pounds if that helps for sizing. Quality is great w excellent zipper /construction. I would repurchase more North Face!!

I am more so posting a question. I've lost the hood to this, but cannot seem to find a replacement. Is there any option for this??

I bought this coat to wear while I wait at ice skating lessons. It was well worth it since I am toasty warm!

I fell in love when I saw this jacket and then I was really let down when I got it. I purchased the XXL which is a little bigger than I normally wear, but I wanted to be able to layer underneath. The arms were too tight just wearing a light tee shirt and I saw that on other reviews as well after the fact.

I really like this coat. It's warm, light, and comes in an array of colors. The zipper glides well. I have no issues with the hood. To the contrary, the jacket zips up to a good height and the hood snuggles down, keeping the wind out. Keep in mind this coat is intended to be a slim cut." It's not huge or loose in construction. I'm 5'5" and 126-130 lbs. I actually bought this coat in two sizes: a size Small for daily wear with casual clothes, and a size Medium that I can wear over suits and blazers. I'm warm and happy. :) I bought the small in the *Iridescent* Lavender Fog color - it's really pretty, better than the standard, flat lavender fog color you see in other TNF items.

I've had my metropolis for probably 6-7 yrs. I feel like it's not as warm as it used to be so I'll be getting a new coat this year. I've never had an issue with the hood just falling off.

This coat is so warm and comfortable. Perfect for Michigan winters. The snaps that connect the hood are worthless. You'd be better off using paper clips and chewed bubble gum. This coat is far too expensive to have such flimsy material to connect the hood. I put my crossbody bag on and my hood fell off. If a hood is mandatory for you. Do NOT buy this coat. If you are ok with wearing a scarf and hat in lieu of a hood, this coat is very warm and comfortable. I hope this helps you find the best coat for you. The reviews are accurate in regards to the hood easily disconnecting without effort. The coat is very warm and comfortable. The zippers, buttons and seams were intact. The color, size and length were as expected. You will not be able to put the hood on and turn your head without the snaps separating. Your purse, book bag and or cross body will cause your hood to detach. My only complaint is the poor craftsmanship of the hood connection.

I’m 5 feet tall and 123 lbs, beautiful cost but it consumed me. I bought the small, I have an athletic build so the small fit well in my arms but not in my waist area, too big.

This jacket is so warm and comfy. I love that it has long enough arms and covers my wrists fully. The length is perfect, I am 5'9" and it comes to just above my knees. There are two drawbacks though, one is the hood, which other reviews have mentioned. It attaches by plastic snaps and it is constantly coming apart. I will probably end up sewing a hook and eye on each end to keep me from losing it. The other drawback is with the white color. You can see some dark feathers through the white fabric. They are not numerous enough to be terribly noticeable, but just beware that they may be visible on the white coats.

I wear this coat everywhere. To work and even to church. I only wish the hood was not snapped on/off, but zipped on/off.

This is a nice coat...seemed well made and warm. Just not the right fit for me. Smaller in the chest and waist and extra roomy in the hips, this jacket is the opposite of me, so not a good fit. If you are built smaller on top with a petite waist and big hips. this is probably the coat for you.

Overall a great jacket. However had an issue where the snaps on the hood would not keep the hood attached to the jacket. Besides that, the jacket will keep you warm while not being too heavy.

Simply holding the coat by the hood results in it detaching, it's such a simple thing but its a huge pain, really disappointed in the lack of quality, Ive never encountered this issue with other coats

Love that this coat is very warm on freezing cold mornings on the east coast. I walk to work before the sun rises and wear this coat. Love the little bit of form the sinch in the middle gives to give it a little form. What would give this coat five stars for me is if the buttons for the hood were more sturdy the hood falls off way too easily. I also would like some buttons instead of just a front zipper.

It is very nice coat. The only thing is that the hood detach easily and you need to fix it quite often.

I purchased this jacket a couple of years ago and I wanted a different color. Unfortunately, I'm returning because it doesn't seem as quality as my other 550 fill and I didn't love it. Nice range of colors.
