I have worn these for work for the past few months and they're great! I'm on my feet all day.

I read a review of these that said " i can finally walk with these sneakers" . I have been having foot issues out of the blue, a neuroma in each foot...painful and my feet feel tight. This happened after walking my usual walk 4 miles..also had pain in ball of foot after biking. So found out i have neuroma, between 2nd and 3rd toe. These sneakers are nice and wide and my heel does not slip..also put my orthotics in. Like a dream come true. I might even get another pair of this style since i have returned so many that did not work. Finally i can recover in comfort.

I have worn NB 840s for years and love them. Due to foot issues in the past and extensive foot surgery this year, the only shoe I can wear comfortably is the NB 840 8.5 EE. When I needed new shoes a few months ago they were out of stock at Zappos. A local shop recommended the NB 880 8.5 EE, but the toe box is narrower, and I need as much room there as possible. I appreciate the fact that Zappos will let me know when the size I need is back in stock so I can place an order. I hope NB continues to make the 840s and that Zappos continues to stock them.

I really like these shoes. Unfortunately they were a half size too small. Had to return the first pair I ordered and get the next size up.

For me who has neuropathy, strange feet and plantar fasciitis these sneakers are perfect. The wide toe box is great. Glad to see they finally made a new addition. My only wish would be for more colors.

All is good, except I really preferred the earlier versions. they were so much more comfortable, better made, and lasted a long time. these took a bit longer to break-in.

I’ve been wearing these for a week now and I’m really not satisfied with the comfort. My feet are pretty achy after walking in them. I think the soles are stiffer. My 1080’s were much nicer in comfort. I think I’m sending these back.

This shoe is a great looking shoe on and off. I returned because the toe box was just a bit too narrow for my wide foot with a bunion.

When I put on 840v4 the very first time, they felt perfect, comfortable, already worn in. Unfortunately they aren't available in Canada now. I ordered the v5, and it has a much larger, wider toe box, and less comfortable insoles, although they look the same. I put an insole from my v4s into a new shoe and it is much softer, but there is something about the whole shoe that feels different, not quite as comfortable. Both shoes have an 8mm drop, which I need. I ordered these shoes online due to covid and store problems, and have accepted them but have had to put Dr. Scholl's foam pads under the insoles for a more cushiony feel.

Have foot problems with Neuropathy and Hammertoe. Tried the wide, but is too wide. Great shoe, just doesn’t fit me.

This is my 4th pair and will be my last. They've changed the place of the trim and now they hurt my bunion. I'm disappointed.

These aren't as comfortable as the 840v4. The tongue feels stiffer, and the laces are thinner. But the comfort issue might be because I got a wide width to leave extra room for my bunions, at the suggestion of my podiatrist. The toe box is quite comfortable, but the shoes engulf my feet at the ankle - they come up very high, and the tongue and padding around the collar of the shoe bang against the tendons around my ankles and the top of my foot. That may be because I don't actually have wide feet - I just have bunions, and my feet are skinny. But I've worn them outdoors already, so can't return them.

I've worn New Balance shoes for years and this is the first time I've found the toe box to be too narrow and uncomfortable. I hope this is passing trend.

The reason this shoe--and many other NB shoes these days--feels shorter than labeled is because of the excessive padding behind the heel, which pushes the foot forward in the shoe. Please, please bring back the 1080 v9. Wide toe box, narrower heel and no excessive padding around the ankle.

The fit of the shoe was pretty good, however, it caused knee pain after a week of walking in it. I have worn 840v4 and the technology has changed on the 840v5. Apparently, I can't take those changes. I wish New Balance kept things the same.

I am not as happy with the 840v5 as I have been with the previous versions (3 & 4). There was something missing in the style and fit of these that I had with the earlier versions.

There's too much padding in the heel and tongue of the v5. I purchased the v5 to replace my v4s and prefer the heel & tongue of the v4s.

This is the worst pair of New Balance shoes I have ever purchased. Such a waste of money. I kept waiting for them to be as comfortable as the 840v4 that I had previously purchased. Size was correct, but shoes were uncomfortable and felt heavy. My feet hurt after wearing them for a short period of time. I should have returned them. I just purchased another pair of 840v5 that seem to be fine. I think the shoes purchased in June 2022 were just not made right. The shoes I felt were most comfortable were the New Balance shoes purchased on 10/18/21. It is my understanding these have been discontinued.

This version of the 840 shoe is big disappointment. Uncomfortable stiff padding has been placed in the interior ankle area so that the fit is tight and painful. The previous 840 shoe was my favorite, totally comfortable and supportive.

I’m very disappointed with this shoe. I can only hope the next version will mirror the previous v4. Runs large and very clunky. Also the flat shoestrings are way too short.

For years I have exclusively worn New Balance running shoes, and with every pair, I put them on and they were comfortable right from the start. I just purchased my second pair of 840's and I am very disappointed in the quality. The materials are cheap, and the fabric surrounding the ankle is very stiff (no flexibility at all) and caused a blister. I am hopeful that once these shoes are broken in, it will get better. In the meantime, I am wearing a blister bandaid on my ankle. Why does New Balance mess with the design and materials of perfectly good shoes? Very disappointed.
