Toe box too large. Eas not constructed like 840 v4–unable to tighten with laces for good fit. I am teturning

I thought these were going to be the shoes for me, but unfortunately after just 3 months there are holes worn into the padding of the heels. I am very disappointed.

I bought a size larger and wider than typical in anticipation of some new orthotics. These were too small even without the orthotics.

Shoes look great, but there is something inside the left shoe under the laces, not far below big toe that makes it painful to wear. Did not notice this when I first tried them on, or even the first time I wore them to walk. I tried loosening the laces, to no avail. It's rubbing a large red spot on the top of my foot. These shoes are worn only for my morning walks (4-5 miles/day), and the pain is worsening. Have never had this problem with any other shoe.

I have worn NB for several years. This size 12 runs small.

I purchased both the 840v5 and 847v4. The 847v5 felt very large but I wore them outside so can't return them. I also purchased the 847v4 which feels a bit shorter than a 7 but it still is a better fit for me.

They were an extra wide shoe. I have worn many New Balance and these were no where near the same quality. There was no cushioning .

I gave these shoes a few days rest and talked to my PT about them and definitely but sadly will need to return them. The sides are too high under my ankle bones and the tongue is resting against my lower leg causing me to walk against my feet and this is hurting my metatarsal bones (right where the colored part of the bottom soles is...forefoot.) Definitely hard to explain except that I was stuck in my midfoot gait right after knee surgery when rockers were recommended the first time; so, I am going in circles with reduced ROM and continuing pain to show for it. Sad and disappointed.

Took them out of box small label in tongue seemed worn off. Laces are questionable. looking. ? Very heavy to walk in decide return them.

Returning

These are shoes have been very uncomfortable. I really wanted New Balance W840BN4 in 8W which is what I had before. It seems New Balance has discontinued that model. Most unfortunate. They were perfect. I have put in request to find these numerous times, but they are ALWAYS out of stock.

This shoe just doesn’t work for me. The 840v4 was great. The toe box does not feel all that comfortable in this shoe.

Uncomfortable

I spent a lot of time choosing this shoe and it turned out not to have the support I was looking for. Also, the left shoe feels loose in the toe box and lacing tighter just created gaps on top. Truly disappointed! Returning.

I have worn wide width New Balance shoes for quite a number of years which were purchased from J C Penney. They were comfortable and served as great walking shoes. Unfortunately New Balance is no longer available from J C Penney. The shoes I have worn for years do not appear to be made as well as they used to be, and therefore forced to pay twice as much for shoes. The 840 is sold in shoe stores, but when I opened the box, they looked like a size 12 instead of a size 7, which make my feet look larger and are awkward to wear.

I have purchased New Balance shoes for walking in a 10 1/2 D for almost 20 years and they all fit perfectly. Unfortunately, the same size in this model is much too big- too long and just generally too large in the foot. They also make my large feet look even larger. It’s a completely different shoe than I’m used to from NB so I have to return them and try something else.

I had a previous version of the same shoe, most comfortable shoes I ever had. The new ones have half the padding in the collar, are stiff, don’t fit the same, hurt my feet, the quality has gone downhill, arches don’t feel like they’re in the same place. Unfortunately, I wore them outside so can’t return them but won’t be buying again.
