Love these shoes, they are very consistent and make my feet happy. What gives my review a 3 are two things, one NB doesn't make enough wide sizes and when they do, don't make enough of various colors..Also very deceptive on first responder and military discount simply doesn't apply to 90% of what they sell..

The stitching on the top of the shoe was puckered. Thought about returning the shoes, but needed them for my rehabilitation.

The 840 fit is great. They have a wide toe box and are deep enough for orthotics. The foam soles breakdown way too quickly.

They eliminated a popular color - the light gray. Also, they cheapened the laces. Not that serious because I could just buy replacements but a paid to re-lace the shoe.

I bought an M840 shoe, size 12.5 B on line. Like the shoe but the "B" width is not the same as the previous models I have purchased over the years - 860 and 990 series. It is definitely a bit wider and not quite as snug as I like. Had assumed the lasts for all the running shoes would remain the same. JA

Not true to size. I have ordered the same size shoe for many years and these run a bit large.

This shoe has a great arch support but not as comfortable as the older 840's.

The online ordering experience was great. The shoe itself is a bit too narrow for me. Even though I ordered the 4E width, the left shoe still cuts into the side of my foot. I have about 15 - 20 miles on them. Maybe they will loosen up with a bit more wear.

For whatever reason, the size was way too big. It was said to be shipped in 2-5 business days, was more like 11. Wanted to buy online because I had a code that was received from a faulty product before. Used the code but had to send shoe back. Waiting to see if I can get a gift card for the code I had, but in true New Balance fashion it has gone on deaf ears and I haven't heard anything. Will never buy shoes online again.

Stiffer and not as comfortable as the 680 V6. Maybe back to Under Armor.

I have worn several pairs of 840v4 loved the bungee cord for shoe strings. But the 840v5 came out with what I would call a plain pair of shoe strings. The shoe is comfortable I just think a few more cents should have been spent on strings. Would love to have the bungee again They are hard to find but if I can find them I'll buy 840v4 again. I wear mens 9 2E.
