So much bigger than other New Balance 840's I have purchased. I did not wear them, just tried them on. I am returning them. I thought I had the size and width down, but those shoes grew!!

Have a pair of grey M840 13 2E. They fit great. Ordered a Black pair M840 13 2E and they were to small in length and narrower.

The sneakers wore out unreasonably fast. The fabric at the toe of the sneaker tore. It ripped on the upper part of the shoe over the toes. This happened w/in 3 months of purchase & beginning use. NOTE: The sneakers were only used for walking during that time.

I'm struggling with the length of my shoe and my index toe especially on my left foot. These shoes are the same size as I have been getting for years. Yet I'm getting a blister on my left index toe and it will not go away. I really wanted these shoes to work because two pairs of my other shoes are getting old. They are not shown on my order history but their models are MROAVTB and MROAVBB. I have a newer shoe that appears on my order history MCRZRRB (Fresh Foam Cruzv1 Reissue). All of of these shoes are size 14. In an effort to make the new 840v5 (M840BB5) shoe work, I put the left shoe in a shoe stretcher. It still causes blister irritation on the end of my left index toe. It is frustrating. Note I bought a second pair at the same time 840v5 (M840LB5) and it has the same problem. Note: I have been a long time user of New Balance shoes( well over 20 years) This is the first time that I have had a shoe length problem. I am sending a similar note about the other pair that I bought at the same time.

Returned as this show has absolutely no support. It was bought to wear daily, not for running and the support was lacking even for this.

I had 2 pairs of v4, but the v5 is NOT the same shoe. The comfort is nowhere *near* the level of the v4. I am returning these because after 2 weeks, I am still having foot pain, mainly in the heel, but elsewhere, too. They have ruined the 840. So sad; it was my favorite shoe for the last several years.

I was skeptical of some negative reviews so I tried these, I have had 5 pair of the v4 and loved them. V5 is not good. The insole curves up much higher on the outside of my feet creating an instant hot spot. I could feel the thick tongue on the top of my foot and knew that would also be an issue. The laces were so short I struggled to tie them. This was one of the most popular NB shoes according to all the reviews I have read over the years, they should have left them alone. Returned, thank you Zappos.

I need a narrow width, which previously was available in the 840's. Now, no narrow. So no good for me.

Quality itself seemed fine, but the fit was very strange compared to other NB shoes i own. I will stick with the 880 models

The fit was o.k. but the sole is too thick. These are almost platform shoes. I wasn't looking for a minimalist sneaker, either.

I've been wearing 840s, or the predecessor shoe numbers, for over 10 years. I bought the V5 and found it to feel much less cushioned than my old V4 shoes. I had to return them. I am now wearing ASICS Gel Cumulus 24. I'll give the next version of the 840 a try. Hopefully, New Balance will correct the problem.

I've been a big fan of the 840V4 for many years and bought the 840v5 when I couldn't get the 4 version. There are several things about this shoe that I don't like. The tongue is very long and narrow, so it looks silly and it slips to the side. You feel everything on the road surface in your foot, even when using the cork inserts from Sole. Never had this with the V4. The decorative "N" on the side of the shoe overlaps with the plastic tracing causing a hard spot that you can feel on the top side of your foot. The new lacing design also bunches up and you feel that pressure on the top of your foot.

Shoe is poorly made. This was the second pair I ordered, first pair the sole wasnt glued on properly and was flapping at the rear. 2nd pair, the stitching inside at the toe was poking into my big toe. Poor quality control.

Have owned 5 pairs of the 840v4 and loved them but I could not be more disappointed with the V5. The shoe fits completely different. My biggest concern is the heel which has changed drastically on this version and makes its too uncomfortable for me to wear. Ill be looking at other brands for my next shoe

Already walked through almost half the tread in like 70 miles. Been a New Balance wearer for a long time, really been disappointed with this pair.
