I wore the paradigms 4 and 4.5. I told everyone about them. I work in healthcare and did have to buy them every few months but I loved them so much I didn't mind a bit. The paradigm 5 I noticed a change and now the 6 I can't even comfortably wear or recommend to anyone anymore. The 6 completely lost everything the paradigm was loved for!!! The toe box is now small, the cushion isn't as nice, the shoe fits small overall. Bring back the 4 and 4.5 design!!!!

I have been a long time altra customer and I am considering not buying them anymore. Each time I buy a new pair the toe box gets smaller. Why not offer the original size everyone loved?

The Paradigm fits nicely. However, the cushioning was not plush in feel. It was stiff and hard rather than plush.

My local running shop recommended this model because I prefer low drop/zero drop and need arch support. I find them very comfortable for pavement walking! However, within the first week, they started squeaking every time I step. Something in the sole when it bends. So, I don't feel comfortable wearing them in public and regret the purchase.

Paradigm 6 seems to be a nice shoe BUT arch support missing...even with the commercial orthotics (with my prescription orthotics my foot wouldn't fit the shoe). To be fair... I have narrow heels, high insteps, and high arches (fallen now due to injury). I'm female, 79, and active (walker not runner).
I'd also recommend:

Loved the feel of the shoe. In fact wore them for a half marathon 6 days after I got them. However, the tread is already showing a lot of wear (i only had them on for 2 runs - 2.5 miles and 13.25 miles). I want to love them, but this amount of wear at this price point is not normal.

I find Paradigm 6 to be too soft, too wide, and just ugly, while not really providing a decent amount of support. The marshmallow-like cushioning caused me to feel unbalanced in spite of the ovely-wide, unsightly midsole. It definitely has an orthopedic-shoe vibe. I returned them and tried the shoe's previous iteration, the Paradigm 5, which turned out to be a great shoe for me. Perhaps, moving forward, Altra may want to revisit the design of the older Paradigm. It's narrower width seemed to be one of the few complaints about the shoe (which was a benefit for my normal-width foot), and merely adding a choice of widths would solve that problem.

I agree with other reviewers that is is NOT a balanced shoe. There is a heavy amount of padding under the forefoot. Because of this, when you put the shoes on, they tip you backwards and rock you back on your heels. I still took them out for a run as I am desperate to find a shoe to replace the Torin 4.5 since the 5.0 version is awful. My review after a 5 mile run: 1. Because of the heavy padding under the forefoot, if you have a morton's neuroma, these shoes are 100% NOT for you. The padding presses up against it and after 3 miles my toes were completely numb on both feet. 2. This shoe is looser in the heel than other models so there was a lot of slippage while I was running, causing blisters. 3. The toebox on these are considerably more narrow than any other model. What this shoe does do well is the arch support. Far superior than the Torin's. But I can't keep a shoe where my toes go numb after even a short run so back they go. Hoping the 2022 shoe lineup from Altra will be better.

I really wanted to love these shoes as I'm recovering from plantar fasciitis. However as soon as I put them on I felt like I was at sea and tipping backwards on the shoes due to excess cushioning. My friend also tried a pair and had the same effect. I bought them and tried at home indoors, but sadly felt completely unstable in these do I returned them to the shop. I'm trying other Altra models and hope I find one that works.

I liked these shoes, but they developed a hole in the lining on the heel after very light usage. The hole is causing blisters on my heel.

I have worn Altras for many years, but never had them squeak like my paradigm 6's. I took them to the store and they exchanged them. Still squeaking. I called Altra and I was told that they know they are squeaky, put some baby powder or VASELINE in them. I tried powder, still squeaky. This time wasted my money

I wore these for about three days and wound up with the most excruciating foot pain I've had since recovering from plantar fasciitis almost 10 years ago. The arch and top of my foot were screaming in pain and this was only with walking. Six weeks later and I'm still experiencing pain across the top of my foot after wearing these.

After only 4 months of purchasing the Paradigm 6 in the white with light yellow trim, they have lost support in the forefoot section. The fabric stretched and is loose so that my feet now slide toward the outer side of the shoes when walking. They are now too wide and they give a very misshapen appearance. I still own the Paradigm 4.5 and they are perfect! The cushion and support are still going strong. I was looking for a new color when purchasing the 6's. I was not overly thrilled with the color but that was the only color in my size in this model at my local store. I cannot wear the shoes now because of lack of support and the cushion in toe area which I need for arthritis in toes just doesn't stand up to the 4.5's. Lost confidence and trust in Altra. If something isn't broken, DON'T FIX IT!!

It's just not as cushiony and supportive as the paradigm 5 was. I think their whole collab they brag about made the shoe worse.... if Kara Goucher wanted a custom shoe they should have called it something else.

Purchased 1/5/23, got out of box 1/11/23. Tried to relace and found that the end of the lace is defective so I cannot unlace/relace. CustService refused to help and told me to buy my own new laces.

Toe box is smaller and so is the length of the shoe. I bought the size or normally wear in Paradigm and before I know it I was having foot pain. Wish Altra didn't sell out and made the large Altra toe box they used to.

I have worn paradigm Since 2018. I work in a hospital and go through them fast. I loved them so much I bought a few pairs a year. The paradigm 5 and 6 are not anything like the paradigms before. Luckily I found a place that still had 4s and I bought about 5 pairs. But they are about to be done and I suppose I'll have to find a new shoe again. I loved the old paradigm and roomy toe box. Bring the older design back. They are only getting worse each year.

This is my 3rd pair of Paradigms. I loved 4 and 5 so much I automatically bought the 6's when my 5's wore out. Sadly these are not the shoes I knew and loved. The toe box isn't as roomy as the 5's and I'm finding myself in pain if I wear them all day, which never happened with the 5's, to the point where I'm avoiding walking when wearing them. Completely opposite of the point of them!

I have bought and happily run in many pairs of Altra shoes, but all of your shoes except for the original fit are too narrow for my feet. I guess I'll have to stick to buying the men's versions, even though I much prefer the colours available in the women's shoes. Very disappointed.

Too narrow in mid foot, I returned 4 pair each a different model because they only offer the original wider foot shape in trail shoes now! Disappointedly, I ordered Hokas and will try reluctantly because I have loved my Alteas the last 5 years! Stop changing everything on us!

I only had these for a month and a half and ran 80 miles and wore a hebin one shoe at the heel. My heel doesn't even slip!! When I contacted altra I was told it was improper fit. MY HEEL doesn't slip!!! Any shoe at this price should last longer then 80 miles or the company should make it right!! TERRIBLE customer support!!

SO DISAPPOINTED! I have loved these sneakers. Purchased them on March 28. Started a walking routine at the end of May and have walked 1-3 miles a day. The back of the heel are completely ripped up. Holes in both sneakers. Contacted customer service and they told me it was wear and tear? Are you kidding me? I only wear them when I walk for exercise. This is insane and really awful product and customer service.

I have been struggling with plantar fasciitis for years and need a high cushioned neutral shoe that I can put my orthotics in. I previously was wearing Hoka's but I'm not a big fan of how they look. This shoe is absolutely great, meeting all my needs with one exception. Winthin 2 months the interior portion of the heel area on of the shoe started coming apart and within 4 month they completely came apart to the point they are uncomfortable to wear. If not for that I would be buying this shoe again and again but if the quality can last more than a few weeks I can't justify spending that much money on them.
