I bought Moab Speed Thermo Mid WP boots for winter because the Moab 3 Mid boots are the most comfortable boot I've ever worn. I did a lot of walking around town at First Night on New Year's Eve when there was a steady drizzle, and they were very comfortable with excellent ankle support, and they kept my feet dry. I originally rated the Speed Thermo 5*; however, after slipping on the snow and slipping on rubber steps coming off a bus and nearly falling, I realized that the treads/sole is not suited for either rain or snow, which is what winter boots are supposed to be made for! While they are very comfortable, I wouldn't not buy another pair unless Merrell added polar traction technology to the soft, slippery rubber soles.

So, after reading reviews, I bought a pair. Should have gone a size bigger, in my opinion they run a tad small. Way too tight with thermal socks. Laces could be 6 inches longer. If you're not going to be wearing more than one pair of socks or it's not that cold, I suppose they're fine. Happy with purchase, just won't be using them for what I bought them for.

I bought these a 1/2 size bigger than I normally wear and they were still too narrow. I tried wearing thinner socks etc. hoping to make them fit, but in the end they were just too narrow and I had to return them. Otherwise, very comfortable with spongy heels. I have heel spurs and planter fasciitis from running cross country, and work. If these came in a wide width I would definitely buy them again!

I was pleasantly surprised with the Moab's. I hike the NH48k The ascent, boots were snug and extremely comfortable fit. I change out laces in all my boots. Like laces with more friction so they don't loosen up. Best Merrells

Warm enough, but stepped in a few puddles and left foot very wet. Definitely didn't go over boot top with water.

Comfortable but not as durable as I hopped. The bottom sole has already started disintegrating

Nice boot. Fits good and is very comfortable for all day use. The waterproofing I feel held up for the first all day use in snow. Second day not so much.

It's pretty bold to label a boot as waterproof. When it's not. Supposed to be a winter boot. You'd think they would sustain walking in the snow. I am a postal worker and bought these because they were advertised as waterproof. They're not even water resistant. I take 5 steps in the snow and the water locking begins. After a day of work, they're drenched and my socks are in need of being rung out. Pretty disappointing considering the comfort level is great and the appearance is appealing. However, do not recommend these if you're looking for winter boots. These are casual hiking boots as best.

The tongue webbing is too short and leaves a gap where your socks can get wet. My right boot has a defect in the interior heal counter that I didn't feel until 4100' up Mt. Jefferson, the rest of the hike was very uncomfortable.

I bought these for winter hiking in Nova Scotia, which these days is more about rain and ice than it is about snow. They were included in the Merrel search function as waterproof, but when I got them they say they are only water resistant. I also got them because I thought they had traction spikes/studs. In the pictures they do, but when I got them I realized they are only soft rubber. On ice, gravel, rock, etc, I expect these rubber spikes will be gone in a month. They otherwise look like a decent boot if one was just looking for something to wear in dry snow.

Wolverines aka Merrell are some of the worst made shoes in the world. They think everyone has skinny ankles with wide feet. Fit is awfully designed.

First lace up and lacing system broke as others have reported. Awful quality control and my first pair of Merrell. The return pair they send back better last awhile or this will be my last Merrell I buy. I should have stuck with Skeen...

Had these boots for less than a month. The material on the left side of the left boot blew out. I wore them about 5-6 times for about 10 hours each in mild environments. The material was not cut or worn, just split apart close to the sole and are no longer wearable. Not a great impression being first pair of Merrell's. Otherwise they were light, comfortable and warm. Would certainly not recommend for Law Enforcement.

I normally wear shoes with a regular width (D) and size 10.5, or, sometimes, 11. With these shoes even size 11 is too tight - even with thin summer socks. And, of course, there is no wide version of these boots at all.

Wore them once and the hook-lacing system broke off. Mostly standing in them, so was very surprised about the quality.

Hardly worn, still like new condition other than defective seems already and really warn casually a handful of times if that! Not happy with quality at all and not sure I'd even give another chance. Still have to go through a complaint process to see what happens...

After wearing Keen hikers for a few seasons I wanted a change. These fit very well and are super comfortable. However, after 4 trips through fields with morning dew these are as waterproof as the Titanic at the bottom of the ocean. If you like comfortable hikers and soaked socks these are the hikers for you.

Bought this shoe to hike in Iceland for 9 days. The shoes came in and were amazing design but day two of some light hiking and the buckles on the top shoe lace holders came loose. By day 4 one of them was completely gone. I hope my shoe was a defect but I had to send them back.
