The instep was very tight. Hard to even get shoe on foot. The padding around the ankle was excessive, probably the cause of not being able to get foot in without a lot of difficulty. The Ghost 16 I tried fit the same way as this Addiction. I went up a size with the Ghost 16 thinking it would fit, but it was much too large overall . My old Ghost 13 and 15 did not have this problem. What's with the new Brooks? Why all the ankle padding? Why so narrow at the instep?

I had to return these - I ordered a full size above my regular shoe size and my toes hit the top. Also, I typically wear a narrow in a non-Brooks shoe, but the narrow width in this shoe was insanely narrow. If you have a very narrow foot and don't mind a short toe box, then you may like this shoe. It's too bad they didn't work out because I was excited to finally find a narrow running shoe in a nice color.

Love these shoes! I usually wear either Brook's Addiction or Adrenaline. Because of bunions and a hammertoe, I have a lot of trouble when they change the style. This was the first pair in a long time that I could just put on and wear all day without having to do any additional "stretching". And to top it off, they finally have a wide width that isn't an ugly dark color! I'll probably buy a second pair before they disappear (like my most favorite-adrenaline 20 did :( )

The size was not as wide as previous Brooks styles and the material felt very stiff and irritating so I will be returning these.

Brooks Addiction always fits, provide cushioning, arch support and comfort.

Such a horribly uncomfortable shoe! I usually wear NB and this shoe was comparable in length and width, and they look nice, but they're so stiff and inflexible that they cut into the sides and top of my feet. As others have mentioned the laces are too short to tie. If they'd been the slightest bit comfortable I would have replaced the laces, but unfortunately they're going back.

I have bought countless versions of this shoe. Originally I bought 7 1/2 D, then 8 D, and now this shoe is too small. I remove the foot bed and use custom orthotics (which have not changed). I will return them and order 81/2. Other than the current fit, they are terrific!

This was disappointing. I’ve worn the Addiction for more than 20 years of active work on my feet. I always loved it because of the wide toe box for my duck feet, the roomy height inside for my high arches, and the support for my long instep. But this design seems to have lost everything I loved about the shoe. For one, while the footbed was wide enough, Brooks is now skimping on the height of the side pieces. For an extra wide foot like mine (I ordered these in 9 X-wide), that translates into a gap between the tongue and the side of the shoe when laced up. When I removed the laces, I could see my socks through the holes where the laces go. That’s new because my previous pair of Addiction 14s were fine with no socks showing and no gap between tongue and side of shoe. I got them in gray because the black wasn’t available in my size. Yuk! I was ready to send them back just for the color alone. However, I tried them on just to see how they felt. Where did my wonderful Addictions go? No cushioning, just hardness under my foot. The toebox is different and nowhere near as comfortable as my previous Addictions. Plus, it felt like the height of the toebox and foot is now a bit lower. For someone with a very high instep, this is noticeable and uncomfortable. So, back they go. I wish Brooks would stop trying to improve the Addictions. My last pair of Addiction 13s are fine, but the outer fabric has never been durable. Going back to the Addiction 11 or 12 would be perfection. Sigh…
