After searching endlessly for supportive shoes since crushing both my feet in a near fatal car accident in 2009, I finally found a shoe that doesn’t make my feet hurt. That in itself is a miracle! I wasn’t a fan of the Clifton 7, and these I really like a lot. In my car accident, I fractured both feet very badly, fractured my hip in 3 places, and too many other things to list. After having 9 major orthopedic reparative surgeries in 11 years, I was burned out trying to find a shoe that doesn’t induce more hip, knee, and ankle pain. My right foot is my bad foot, after shattering my calcaneus (heel bone) in the accident. It’s a fused ankle, where I have very little up and down motion-and no side to side motion at all. These shoes make me feel like I can run again, even though I can’t due to my fused ankle and previous knee surgery. These shoes feel like I’m supported very well, and cloud-like. My only complaint is that the right shoe rubs & presses so badly on my 1 MTP joint horribly, and I have a lot of pain due to this issue when taking off the shoes. I have Morton’s Neuroma, and Metatarsalgia in the right foot as well, and the fusion to top it off. Overall, I wish this shoe would’ve been in my life when I was learning to walk again after being wheelchair bound back in 2010. They give you a spring in your step. I took off 1 star due to the intense rubbing on my right 1 MTP joint.

I've been an avid Hoka fan for a couple of years but with each new design and style my favorites change. I've been wearing Clifton 6 for a year and loved them but the new design was enough different that it didn't feel like comfortable pair of slippers. It was a bit tighter in the toe box and was loose on my heel. The Bondi 7 have a slight wider toe box that felt great but not as cushioned. I wear a padded orthodontic so that minor detail of less cushioned foot is almost a moot point. My first two pairs of Hokas were Mach 2 and 3. The Mach 2s had a horrible rubber tongue that cut into the top of my foot; cutting it back solved the problem. Mach 3 had a regular padded tongue -- hooray! I think the Bondi 7s will be my new favorite --- until everything changes again and I'll be trying on 5 or 6 pair to find which works the best. I'm almost 70 with "old lady" foot problems so finding a pair of shoes that keeps me walking is of utmost importance. Thank you Zappos for your fine service.

I'm a nurse and spend 12-13hrs a day on my feet. I've had serious foot and ankle pain and swelling for over a year. The pain and swelling was reduced by 75% the FIRST shift that I wore these shoes! They are very cushioned and have a wide base without feeling clumsy. I'm buying another pair to wear when I'm not at work. These shoes are extremely popular with nurses, and for good reason. I only wish there were a waterproof version to protect healthcare workers from bodily fluids.

I love to walk 4 miles a day, but I have plantars fasciitis & had intense pain and had to stop. Hokas have been a game changer for me! You feel the difference between these and regular running sneakers immediately. So much more support and so comfortable! I now recommend these to everyone I know. I already bought a second pair for cross training.

These are so comfortable. My podiatrist recommended Hokas to me to deal with a Morton’s Neuroma. These shoes are a game changer.

I have arthritis in my feet and my large toe needs fusion. I have enough room in the toe box to use my orthotic.

I always go up 1/2 size in an athletic shoe and that’s what I ordered. It fit very similar to my Clifton 6. I have a slightly narrow foot and pronate so the Clifton has been a great shoe for me as a walker. I may add an orthotic after I’ve worn it a week or two but so far the arch support feels fine.

This Hoka Clifton 8 was purchased to replace Hoka Clifton 6. The 8’s give all the superior support and fit I had come to expect from Hoka. The Hoka insoles don’t need to be replaced with orthopedic insoles as I have had to do for years with other brands.

Truly life changing. Drastically reduced my foot and knee pain. I am now walking for miles more often because of these. I am so happy. I usually fit between 7.5 to 8. I got the 7.5 and they fit perfectly and are so comfortable!

First timer here and I must say I am impressed. Love how Light the shoe is, almost weighs nothing, the cushioning is superior to other brand I've owned (Brooks, NIKE, Newtons, adidas etc), the shoe drop and width works great for my feet, great arch support and the Blue/Coral color combo is so loud and fun! I took them for a 5mile run this morning and they were superb! will update after i''ve ran at least 5 times!

My wife works in healthcare and is on her feet quite a bit daily. I bought these for her after a recommendation from a friend that is a runner for 28 years and now having problems with plantar fasciitis. she loves these shoes even more than her Acics or Brooks. Very supportive yet lots of cushion and forgiving as she has bunions. bought a second pair and will buy more for Christmas. Only disappointment is the lack of colors in an 8 wide!

Broke my toe 3 months ago and the boot provided by my podiatrist worked, mostly. These shoes helped me finally turn a corner. I can walk again without pain and they are so comfortable! Highly recommend!!

Hoka Clifton 8's are a whole new ballgame for me. As an 84 year old pole Walker I am thrilled with how stable my ankles and feet are on moderately challenging terrain. Comfort level is great. Correction for my over pronation feels perfect. Breathability is great, and an A+ for attractiveness.

I ordered these sneakers for walking through a recommendation of my doctor. I had never heard of Hoka's before. I love the color, and the fit is so comfy. They're very supportive when I go for my daily walks too.

I have purchased five pair of the Clifton 6!!! Wore the black ones out so I ordered the Clifton 8. Extremely pleased with the Hoka shoes. I have arthritis in my right big toe so with my orthotics and the Hoka's I am able to walk and work out pain free. Thanks so much!! Jan G.

Hoka is my most favorite brand. It’s difficult to find comfortable shoes with a morton’s neuroma. I can wear Hoka all day and my feet don’t hurt. I have multiple pairs and I love them all. Best shoes ever!

I have skinny, bony, low volume feet. I've worn Cliftons for years. Starting with the 7, the tongue is sewn in, which really bothers the top of my foot and makes it impossible to wear my orthotics. I was able to cut the mesh sling out of the 7 and that solved the problem. Now I purchased the 8 and discovered the tongue is attached in a different way, with a lot more fabric. I tried to get used to it, but the only way I can wear them is with the laces loosened so much that my foot comes out at the heel. I think the heel is wider than previous versions, and the toe box is a little narrower. I have narrow heels but need a generous toe box. So the shoe has been changed to the exact opposite of what works for me. I've never liked the look of them, especially the wild colors, since I use mine for walking and wearing them all day with street clothes. Neon is not a great look when you are trying not to call attention to your clunky footwear. I noticed the men's version comes with black on black, and I don't understand why that option isn't available for women. Now that they're not even comfortable anymore, I guess I have to find a new brand.

They're very attractive and light as a feather, though wildly oversized. But those with sensitive feet or pronation, be aware that the "arch support" in these shoe is a permanent, hard lump -- like walking on a peach pit. Thought it was part of the innersole, but it's built into the foot bed. Uncomfortable on try-on, would soon become intolerable.

I've had these shoes for a while now. I love how they look and how they perform. I really wanted to make them work but today was my last attempt. I have narrow feet, but find that these shoes rub on the tops of my toes and the outer side of my big toes. The rubbing is so bad that I end up with blood blisters after every run. I've also experienced rubbing on the back of my heel and the inner mid part of my foot.

The arch support dug into my foot and was very uncomfortable. I wore them for about 15 minutes. When I took them off, the area around my arch was very red. I also didn't like the heel tab that stuck out rather awkwardly.

I usually wear an 8 to 8.5 in shoes and boots. Due to previous reviews tried the 8 medium first. The shoe fit but it felt narrow on the inside arch, like that part of my foot wasn't going to have anything under it. Ordered an 8.5 medium and oddly the length wasn't much different or wasn't really noticeable, but on the 8.5 there was no narrow feel on the inside arch. There is a little more room in the toe box and heel but all around better fit with the 8.5. In my experience these run more true to size than small

Gamechanger: Broke my foot about 2 1/2 years ago, didn't heal for over a year. My Santa Barabara, CA Podiatrist said buy shoes with a lot of support. First I ordered Asics from Zappos - loved them but after wearing them all day on concrete floors I was limping and in pain. Saw an article on HOKA's running shoes and read about their support. Thought I would try them from Zappos (mainly because Zappos has the BEST return policy). It's easy to buy shoes and if they don't work - send them back. I love Zappos. Back to the Hoka's they are a GAME CHANGER - I can wear them forever. So comfy, love the styles, colors, etc. I have two pairs and will purchase more Hoka's in the future and after 8+ hours on my feet - they do not hurt. Try them if you have any pain in your feet. You have nothing to lose - except the pain.
I'd also recommend:

I generally wear a size 9, but after reading some reviews I ordered both a 9 and an 8.5. The 8.5 fit best. Great support. My previous go to shoe was the Asics Kayanos, but I have fallen in love with the Hoka Clifton 8's.

I work in a hospital setting. I walk around constantly and am on my feet 80% of the day. I was looking for a better shoe option. I have been an avid Brooks wearer for years but standing and walking around so much forced me to look for another option. I had intense foot pain - I have flat feet. Enter the Clifton: what a relief. I wear them to work with compression socks and I'm so glad I chose Hoka. I recommend them to everyone!

These are great. I walk all day at work on concrete and there was an immediate difference in the way my feet felt after my 10 hour shift.
