Already in love with this pack...and finally TNF is bringing back a little camouflage for us real men. What can I say more? It's just a great pack, with cool branding and a great layout of pockets and pouches...just buy it!

This is my second recon since 2008. I'm sure this one will last even longer. My 13 inch laptop and cords fits with ease in the computer compartment. The large compartment I can put anything, but I fold or role clothes up in there. I also like that some compartments are lined to prevent/reduce scratched. Comfortable to carry.

Not what I thought it could be. Looking for a new backpack for EU trip and even around town here in NYC. Looks great. Feels great. But as soon as you put anything in the front top section it wakes the rest of the pack feel useless. As it became so too heavy that I couldn't put anything in the main section.
I was unable to use it and returned it for refund. Great return policy.

This is a great versatile backpack for hiking, work, and school.
The daisy chain offer you an option to add a bungee cord system while you are use for hiking.
You can add or remove the bungee cord system anytime in this backpack.
I bought another North Face Borealis for my dad also, although both are same price, similar design, I like the Recon design more than the Borealis.

This was an impulse buy, and one that I don't regret at all! Feels very high quality and looks great. I highly recommend to other college students.

Purchased as my daughter's backpack for college. It's got plenty of room for her daily gear for on-campus and the side packets are big enough to hold her favorite water bottle. She loves it.

Returned it. Stiff, vinyl side pockets that don't stretch. Zippers don't zip all the way down so hard to open it wide to access everything inside. Most of the storage volume is in the height, not the width or depth. Was going to use it for going to and from class, but it's not for me. I had a Recon backpack before and this one isn't as nice.

I use this backpack for work. I like the shove-it pocket and the new shoulder strap design but miss the pockets on my Surge this pack replaced due to my surge needing repair. I went with this pack over the new surge due to the new front pockets on the surge being not very useful. The new NF packs are a step back in design. Hard ring around the bottom, pack does not open enough to get in, pockets intrude on interior, and the top of the pack area is wasted. The designers could do much better.

I purchased this bag for my freshman year of college and it has been perfect. It holds my laptop and textbooks perfectly and is lightweight and breathable.

I really like the durability and quality of this pack. My daughter had one and loved it so I checked hers out first and agreed.

Bought this pack for a trip to Switzerland. Great carry-on size for the airlines, fits a lot of gear, comfortable, and has great pockets. Unfortunately some of the stitching on the rear of the pack on the laptop sleeve was missed, but I should be able to put a few stitches in it to keep the seam sealed up. Overall a great pack, good size for what I needed, and fits well under the seat and in the storage bins of small aircraft.

Stealthy backpack, great for traveling and as an office bag. Has a pocket for all of your needs, easily fits my bulky 15" laptop.

This is my first North Face brand Backpack that I owned. I have my own Under Armour for 4 years already and I decided to order The North Face Recon for both back to work and hiking, and this backpack looks great fit to my needs.
I like front mesh pocket allowing you to clip small stuffs and the daisy chain also allowing you to clip things and adding a bungee cords to carry other stuffs.
The size is not too big, and not too small. However, I wish The North Face offer 20 or 22 Liter backpack between 16-18 inches height in the near future.

Overall great backpack to take into the office. I'm able to carry my laptop and iPad very securely.
The only thing I don't like is that it's too thin in width. I had the older model and it is a little wider.

I have old version of recon which I liked a lot. I gave it to my son who is in middle school. I bought the new version which is not as wider, good looking and sturdy as the old version. I am disappointed by the Northface product. Especially, I didn't like the material they used for the back pocket. It is looks very cheap. I won't buy back pack from Northface anymore.
