Love it, use it every day

I travel quite a bit for work and having a backpack that can also keep my laptop safe is a must have. This bag does not give the impression that I am carrying a laptop and the laptop has its own pocket. Construction of the unit is typical TNF standard - amazing. I hope to have this one as long as I had my previous TNF laptop backpack 8+ years. Worth every penny on the investment.

Great backpack for school a little on the small side.

Great Backpack!

I really love this backpack. In my opinion its size is optimal both for everyday backpack and for hiking backpack. This backpack is very well designed I can put in my laptop, headphones, Jackery power station, wind jacket, fleece jacket, a lot of small staff and go somewhere to work out of home. Best is that I can access any of things I packed in backpack without any problems and I still have place for additional stuff. But the most I love its back. My previous backpack had a soft back and as I have back hurts sometimes it was really uncomfortable for me. Recon has hard back and even with all this stuff inside of my backpack my back feels just great. Recon's quality and materials looks very good, but I believe it's possible to really evaluate backpack quality at least after one year of exploitation.

I use this backpack for work, and love how it has multiple compartments for the different types of things I carry in my bag. Also, it holds my coffee mug and water very securely which is much appreciated. Despite having the ability to carry so much, it is nice and compact. I love this backpack.

Amazing bag pack for travel

So much space, very comfortable, and lasts a long time. Best part about this is there's a warranty. I've had other North Face bags that got damaged some how, and they either fix or completely replace it.

There are a lot of great things about this backpack - it's light and comfortable to wear, lots of pockets and fits larger water bottles on the sides. If you are carrying a laptop there's a dedicated zippered area in the back instead of the normal pouch inside the main compartment. The problem is that by adding a new zippered area and not increasing the size of the backpack, the main compartment storage is very small. My son is keeping this one for now but it's a real stretch to get everything he needs to take to school in it.

I use the Recon as an everyday carry bag. It replaced a Jansport bag that I still love. I use it for travel and take it with me almost every day around town--work or play. My laptop fits and is well protected. Last summer I used it on a two-week trip to the Netherlands and it served me perfectly. I recently carried it, along with another carry-on bag, on a work trip to Arizona and Colorado and it continued to impress me. The expandable mesh pocket is a great feature. I had a tube of sunscreen in it with sharp edges, and I was afraid the edges would poke a hole in the mesh, but the mesh was not damaged. Plenty of pockets allow good organization. The stylish asymmetric side pockets are deep enough to hold an umbrella or water bottle without fear of it falling out. The softly padded pockets are nice too. After using the Recon for months, I discovered another pocket I didn't even know was there! The zipper is hidden under a flap directly above the mesh pocket. The straps are comfortable to wear, too. The North Face has done their homework with the Recon. Perfection in a bag is rare. Hope the design is not changed!

Love it. Exactly what I was looking for.

Been using it for school. Phone pouch is soft and wont scratch the screen.

Bag is just the size I was looking for when traveling as it fits perfectly under the seat in front.

Backpack is great! Lovely color and design, well constructed too. Space is very functional and holds more than I expected. Overall, very pleased with the purchase.
