As someone who has to store a lot of things in their backpack, it's not really big enough. Overall amazing quality tho!

I don't know how many North Face backpacks we've purchased for our children over the years--too many to remember. Not because the backpack failed to hold up, just because getting a new backpack was one of their favorite back to school purchases! We recently had a backpack where the fabric pulled away from the structural part after only a year of use---very different than all other experiences we've had. North Face was so helpful and quick to assist us with a replacement as they give a lifetime warranty! Thank you, North Face!! The quality of your products are second to none!

In one area, see pictures, not sure how stitch comes off so easily, is this part of design?

Great product! Fits everything I need for school! Also love that it had hidden pockets to hide certain things and even has a hard back where I like to place my laptop for it to be more secure!

Not what I expected. Poor zippers, easy to get dirty. not as comfortable as they advertise. This is not my first TNF backpack but I think it will be the last one. This is not worth the money. I do not recommend it.

My wife wasn't impressed by this present/backpack. She liked the color but it is too light to leave it on the floor. The main straps are hard to put on and the waist one can't be removed. It can't stand unless you have some big item at the bottom (hoodie). The zippers are really hard to pull. It seems that The North Face invest in certification and materials but they forget about functionality and ease of use.

I like how the backpack fits but with the harbor blue color. The texture and colors are two completely different colors from the backpack in the picture. It's not cute

I use this for grad school and it fits everything I need for class! Including an iPad, laptop, pencil pouch, accordion folder, planner, and other little things. I had my previous borealis since 2014 and had to replace it because the water bottle holders mesh ripped after heavy use finally. The new backpack has much sturdier bottle holders so I don't think it should be an issue! They fit my 32 oz hydro flask perfectly. I will say, I think this new version isn't as expandable front to back as the old one, but I'm hoping it will stretch a bit as I continue to use it. Excited to get lots more years out of it! Would definitely recommend, you can't go wrong with TNF

Great looking backpack. Especially like the padding on the back which is good for my daughter as her school books are quite heavy. Straps are good in case she wants to put a sweatshirt or jacket in there. Nice pockets on side for umbrella or water bottle.

I use this for college and I like it a lot better than other backpacks I've tried. It's comfortable and doesn't hurt my back and shoulders. I wish the middle pocket was a bit bigger for books.

The front two pockets would be better if they were deeper

I wanted to leave a review for people looking for a bag they can use for school. Currently, I am a high school senior and 5 years ago I bought the Borealis backpack. Overall my experience with the bag has been pretty great. As I have used the bag for many years, however, the bag has become a little ratty and worn. Due to the state of my old bag and starting college next Fall, I started looking for another quality backpack. I felt I had to check out the Borealis backpack again, however, after reading reviews, looking at pictures, and reading the features/details a few things make me a little hesitant to buy the same bag twice. I was hoping that over the years North Face would fix some of the design flaws with the bag, but this doesn't seem to be the case. Here are some of the cons of the old bag that seem to be the same with this bag: 1) The bag is very top-heavy so, even though it says stand-up design, the bag doesn't stay upright unless leaned against something. 2) The size of the pockets remains small. Over time the pockets do stretch out, but I find they still don't provide much space. The dimensions of my bag are the same as the new design and at most my backpack can fit 1 textbook and 2-3 notebooks max within the middle pocket. 3) The strings can be a little annoying at times. Sure it's nice to stick a sweatshirt in the strings if on the go, but I would say more times than not the strings get caught on things. On the old bag, the strings only covered the front but, with the new design, the strings now cover the side pockets too. This makes me very nervous as I feel that more strings mean they are more likely to get caught on things which means they're more prone to breaking. Now don't get me wrong this is still a great bag, but I do find the flaws a little bit annoying at times.

I use it everyday for school. It's great in keeping the weight off of my low back! The only downside is the water bottle compartment can get squished if the interior is fully packed. If you have a smaller water bottle then it shouldn't be an issue!

So small! Besides that, the string that is stitched through the front broke after 3 weeks of school. So did 4 others that my friends had. All purchased directly from North Face website. 2 black, 2 light grey, 1 pattern. Do not get this! Unfortunately, I paid full price trusting the brand name. I was wrong!

My granddaughters wanted the Borealis backpack for Christmas. I ordered them and the girls are delighted---- right size, right features---- everything perfect. They are well-made and attractive. The reason I am writing a review is that beyond loving the product, there was a problem with the delivery company which NorthFace corrected immediately. I was so happy with their service and I am a fan for life.

Great backpack with lots of handy pockets. It does not stand up on its own because it ends up a bit top-heavy but will stand if leaned up against something.

Will use it for a trip to Europe. Holds a lot and a small purse so its one check in bag!

My daughter uses this backpack for school. She loves it. Fits her computer, binders and all school items, Would be great if there was a front pocket to fit a lunch bag.

Great pattern, lots of storage features, and it easily fits a 15.6" laptop. The only drawback is that it's rather heavy in comparison to other packs of similar size.

I bought this as my personal carry on item and love it! Holds all I need to have on the plane with me!
