The sole is very comfortable if you're standIng still. Once you start walking it is apparent that this shoe needs some work- the fit is good, but because the shoe is too stiff, my heel immediately slips out.

These boots are both right tight in the toe box and sloppy in the heel at the same time. They’re a very awkward fit. I tried 3 different sizes, but they’re just too odd (and I’m used to wearing clogs daily).

I love these shoes, I have owned them for 2 years, but they are to narrow and hurt my toes. I should have returned them right away for a bigger size but I didn't so I don't wear them as much as I want to. After and hour my toes hurt to bad :( They are super cute though!!

These were a bit rough with bare feet, but better with socks. Still, I preferred the gumshoes.

These run really large. I followed the advise- if you wear heavy socks, keep your regular size; otherwise size down. I have 2 pairs of HEAVY wool socks and my foot still slides. I tried shearling inserts, but that only makes my foot pop out even easier. I'm still working on how to keep these. I normally wear a 7-7.5. I ordered a 7.

Third exchange's the charm! But for the boot itself, slips at heel. I'll keep them, but now have to look for thick socks. UGH!

It runs extremely big. I usually wear a size 7 to 7.5. I ordered the 6. It was way too big, even with thick socks. I exchanged the 6 for a 5. That was a bit too small. I returned the 5. Too bad you don't make half sizes in this shoe. Nice shoe, but these sizes don't make sense.

These run LARGE. I wear a 6.5 in tennis shoe and a 6 to 6.5 in dress shoes. I’m more than sure I needed a 5. They sure are cute though.

I ordered a size down from my typical, and tried on with socks. These were way too wide for me despite that I often wear wide shoes to get enough room in the toes. I've returned these to exchange for a narrow to see if that helps.

I exchanged my usual 8N for 7N. They're still large on my feet and very wide at the heels. Without thick socks I walk out of them. I hope I never have to run! If you have narrow feet know these are like mediums at best. I still like the waterproof feature for waking my dog in damp grass. I wish the leather tongue were stiffer so it didn't fold under when slipping the boots on. Please make a true narrow that slips on easily!

I like to shoe, but i needed to purchase a better insole. The insole that came in the shoe was not thick enough to give a good cushion or instep. When walking it didn't give much support.

I wanted these to fit so I could replace my shoes I walk the dog in when it rains. I normally wear an 11. But ordered down to a 10M based on other reviews. The length was perfect but the shoe was way too wide especially in the back part of the foot / heel area. It felt like I was wearing flip flops. They would not stay on. It's a good quality shoe, but the sizing is WAY OFF!!

See pictures. To the left in the pics is the moc I purchased 6 years ago; to the right is the new one. The redesign this past year expanded the heel width by 3/8"; the toe box remained the same. To try to get my new mocs to stay on my feet? No amount of extra thick socks helped; they only made the toe box way too tight. I took the shoes to a cobbler. He couldn't begin to reduce the greatly expanded heel area with shoe padding strips. After tripping in the rain with the mocs on my feet, I sent them back. Maybe the next run of mocs will be back to the original sizing for "wide." Or--maybe I will just order the men's mocs in narrow or medium. They don't have the "pointed princess" toe box like the women's shoes do; your toes aren't all smashed together and can actually function you when you walk.

I thought this being a Wide width that there would be enough room in the foot box, but no. My feet slipped out of the heel. It was just overall too narrow and long, but another sie wouldn't have helped.

My goodness who IS in charge of sizing? Not anyone with a normal foot apparently! I had to return my pair. Also my husband's had to exchange got those 2 days ago really great turn around on exchange, but they are still at least 2 to 3 or 4 sizes to big! What is the problem with the size of these shoes. Now I have to send his 2nd pair back and try a 7, but if it's sized so far off the way these 2 have been I don't know what to do next! He needs the shoes, but a pair that fits would be good not a pair that looks like he's 5 wearing his daddy's shoes and that's what he has gotten both times now! I'm sorry these shoes are so well made, but Lord knows they are not sized anywhere near the way they should be! Please someone with the company if you read these reviews do something fast to fix this problem! Thanks

I ordered these first in a size 11 but guessed them to be about a 13. Next I ordered a size 10they turned out to be about a 12. I was a size 11, darn it. I would order a size 9 but have lost confidence in these shoes and am not willing to pay return shipping a third time. Come on LL Bean. You can do much better than this.

Interestingly, I ordered 4 different boots/shoes at the same time; 3 different sizes and 3 of the 4 fit and one was too long. These Rubber Mocs were too long at 6 W(D). The snow boot was fine at 7M(B), but a little tight in the instep, the Rugged Wellie Chelsea Boot was perfect at 7M(B) and the Trail Model Hiker Low was good at 6.5 W(D), but a tiny bit tight on the instep. It's a shame there are no longer standard sizes. Wouldn't it save the manufacturer and consumer a lot of $ if both could rely on a standard size?

Why is it every time we order footwear from you it's a guessing game as to what size to get? Every shoe or boot my wife owns is a women's size 11, and they fit fine, but an 11 in these and she's swimming in them. Why?? Same thing happened to me when I ordered a pair of Bean Boots. I followed your sizing chart and they were at LEAST a size too SMALL. Why??

I really tried to like this boot. I wear and 8.5 medium womens. I order a size 9 and the boot fell off of my foot! I double checked to be sure a men's was not sent by mistake, it wasn't. I returned it and got a size 8. The length is fine but it is soooo wide! I checked and it is a size 8 M. I have NEVER worn a narrow shoe in my life. I bought inserts and now the heel slips. So I ordered some heel inserts, hopefully this will help. The boot does fit if I wear two pairs of heavy socks.

I wear a size 8 shoe. I've been size 8M with little variation all my life. If there was ever any variation I'd have to size up a half size in the past. I read all the reviews and despite people saying these shoes tend to run large, I ordered an 8M first. They were way too big. I felt like a kid trying on the adult shoes in the 8. I exchanged it for a 7m. I really hoped it would fit. Still a touch too big. It seems too wide and when I walk the back slips up and down. I reallly wish the sizes were more accurate. I doubt a 6M would fit, so I'm giving up and disappointed. I have to return the 7m, too. Also, the exchange process was odd. It was an even exchange, but they charged me another $99 before refunding the exchange. An even exchange should be easier than that. In regards to the shoes, I'm going to try a cheap knockoff of this shoe hoping it fits.

These seem to be really great boots/shoes - well made, comfortable. There is one big problem, though, and that is that the sizing is really off. I normally wear a size 8 (or maybe a 7.5 sometimes). Sizes 7 and 8 were too big (even with thick socks), and size 6 was too small with medium-weight socks. There are no half sizes available. I finally had to give up. Reading the comments, this sizing issue seems to be a common problem that LL Bean is well aware of. I wish LLBean could find a way to match its sizes with the shoe sizes of the rest of the world, and also offer half sizes!

Don't understand the sizing of these boots. I did see the instructions about downsizing, but they were still a minimum a full to 1 1/2 sizes too big. I do have wide feet and I think the width was more true to size. Had to return them. Not sure about trying another size just yet. Otherwise I'm sure they are good product.
