Before buying I read the reviews and based on those, ordered a size smaller shoe than I normally wear - they were like boats on me! So returned and ordered the next smaller size. These fit quite well providing I was standing still. Tried walking and the heel part just kept slipping up and down - I couldn't tighten the shoe enough to make them stay on. The product appeared to be well made but the sizing is very strange.

I'm still trying to decide if I am keeping them or not. I usually wear a size 9 but had to return, finally, a size 7 almost fits, but is still too small. They are quite uncomfortable and awkard.

After reading several reviews, I ordered one size smaller than usual. Fits okay except the heel, which is still proportionally large, even with thick socks, and flops when I walk. I'll have to return them.

I'm a size 81/2 and had to order a size 7. It took 2 returns to get the right size...and I still feel the fit is weird. I bought them to work in the garden and I think that's all I will use them for; they are uncomfortable after long wear.

I've always worn narrow width shoes--and these do not qualify. Had my daughter who does wear B width put them on and they flew right off her feet too. Something is not marked right.

The primary reason I purchased these shoes was to have a pair of waterproof slip on shoes for walking the dogs. I first purchased the LL Bean Women's Rubber Mocs in a size 7- they were too big. I called customer service and ordered a size 6. While the size 6 mocs fit lengthwise, they rub on the side of my ankles when I am not on level ground, which is often the case where I live. Also, I had hoped I could just slip them on instead of having to tighten the laces each time I put them on but that was not the case. Trying to tie shoes with 2 excited dogs milling about is a challenge. I'm returning both pairs due to the fit. I am disappointed- I really liked the mocs and thought they would be perfect for dog walking. They are made well and I wish they had fit better. Customer service is awesome- I will shop again at LL Bean, probably not for shoes though.

I really wanted to like these shoes because they were a well-meaning gift. Exchanged for size 7 (one size shorter than normal) narrow, and still the heel is way wide, so not comfortable, even with insoles, for walking. They may last a very long time because they won't be worn often. I would recommend only with caution.

These are useful, sturdy boots--but even in the narrow size, slip on the heel. I had to give them away to someone with wider feet.

I walked right out of these. Didn't like them. Liked the tie gumshoe boots better.

These are huge. I normally wear a size 9 but they were too large so I exchanged them for an 8 and even the size 8 is big. I need to wear a very bulky sock in order to keep them on. They really should be tried on in store before buying. I think they would be great if they fit.

I purchased these boots to wear in the garden or on rainy days. I ordered a size smaller than my normal, based on reviews I read but the shoes were still too long and too wide; even with a midweight sock on they were very sloppy feeling. The construction seems very good and they are made in USA so I was disappointed when I returned them.

Replacing the laces in these is a first class pain. While the Denver climate may effect the elasticity of the leather once the break, plan on 60 minutes minimum to replace them, vs 5 minutes for typical shoe laces.

The fact that these were women's shoes and not mens was not obvious during shopping/purchasing.

Had to send the first pair back even though I bought a half size down. Even though I usually take a 7 1/2 wide I went to the next whole size down a 6 medium. I'm going to keep them even though I had to put my shoe insert in them and take theirs out as it was not enough support for those of us who need it. They are still too wide at the heel even though it's a med. width. The toes are fine. I put another thin shoe sole that was too long so it would take up the room in the heel and it works fine. I'm only going to give two stars for the fact that you shouldn't have to go through this for a pair of shoes. I like LL Bean merchandise but they need to take a look at this problem.

I like the color selections and the option of narrow but the sizing is terrible. Narrow is NOT narrow in this model.

I recommend these to a friend with the following caviat: Order a size smaller, and the red and blue are actually a hot pink and blue. After sending back the first pair, a size 9, I reordered and received a size 8 tan and blue, and just love them. I find that LLBean sizing is somewhat dubius, but have always loved the quality of your products.

I love my 20-year old Bean rubber mocs, which fit me perfectly and have lasted very well. So I was disappointed when, on ordering a new pair, that the two sizes I tried did not fit--one was way too big, the other too small. Why the mystery re:sizing? Shoes are hard enough to order online. I will not order these again unless this is changed.

These are very cute, comfy (though heavy) - but the run HUGE. I ordered a full size smaller than my normal and they were still too big. I pulled the leather tie a bit to see if it narrowed the shoe and it snapped right off. I had to return them.

Love everything about this shoe - practical, cute, slip on - it's PERFECT. But, like many others, it's just way too big. I normally wear a 6.5 and sometimes even 7, but when I put on the 6, my foot flopped out of there like you wouldn't believe. I was so ad to hear they don't come in size 5. I would have gone down to kids' sizing, but they don't make this style in kids. I understand wanting to keep with the original make and style, but PLEASE make this in a 5 so those of us with smaller feet can enjoy them!!!!!!!

Boots were too big and would slip off even with a thick sock, and wanted to wear in wet weather, not cold. The next size down was too small, these need to come in half sizes!

Well the quality is good , but finding a szie was and issue. I had read others but after two visits (purcahsed for another party who wasn't with me- always bring the person who'll wear them.) the last with the person, we did not buy. The wearer had a problem with the heal coming out with 3 different sizes. The last was women's 6M, so try them in a store not mail order. As I said quality is excellent.

I love the style of this shoe and wanted them to work out but after ordering two sizes I had to return both. I ordered my normal size, the heel slipped, they were a little long. I ordered next size down, they were too short and the heel still slipped. I couldn't make either one work by adjusting the leather laces or by using different insoles or socks. They are very stiff which I wasn't too worried about. The heel slipping was the big issue. A friend has had a pair of these that has lasted (she says) for 20 years and she loves them. Sadly, they don't work for me.

i got these for my mom for Christmas and the first time she wore them (that day) the shoelaces broke in two places. very disappointing

They look well made but when you put them on they are very uncomfortable mostly in the arch of the foot. Mine came ane they were alittle big which is not fault of shoe but will not replace for different size because of confort issue
