I have been trying to convince my husband to buy Bean boots like mine (10 years old and counting) for years as he beats up and re-purchases his Bean hikers year 'round. Finally I gave him a pair for Christmas. When they were still unused two weeks later he said "I love them! I don't want to wreck them." Go figure. Well, he's still buying your hikers, so no loss here. S Holbrook

This is my 3rd pair. I live in Texas, so no need for insulation. They do run a little large but add some good athletic or hiking insoles and they are fine.

These boots are so comfortable, and no break in was required for me. I sized down one size as recommended and agree that they fit better with thicker socks. I've been using smart wool socks, which work well. Another thing I've noticed is how easy they are to clean. I got them really muddy building trails, then just hosed them down and they look good as new.

My grandson does Boy Scout camping and other activities that are outdoor. He borrowed my husbands shoes and really liked them, so for Christmas we purchased him his own pair. He was thrilled which actually shocked me because he has the teenage 'eh' attitude most of the time. Thanks for such a good product and getting a teenager to show appreciation over something other than electronics.

These boots are great! Gave them to my husband as a Christmas gift and he was so happy. They are a little big but I believe that is because they are made for thick, comfy socks.

I bought these for my son for Christmas. I did as recommended and ordered a full size down (he normally wears a 14 wide, so I ordered a 13 wide). When he tried them on they were entirely too big. He said he felt like he was going to walk out of them...even with wearing two pairs of socks. I sent them back and ordered a 12 wide. The second pair fit perfectly. Quality was good and shipping was fast.

My second resole after 40 years. If it ain't broke don't fix it. When it comes to form and function, still great 40 years later.

Finally bought my first pair of Bean Boots. Living in the Pacific Northwest, good wet weather footwear is a must. I couldn't be more pleased. First of all, I love the classic look. Workmanship is top notch. Super comfortable, fit is perfect. I normally wear a 13 but ordered a 12 and the fit is dead on with a nice pair of wool socks. Very satisfied!!

I read and followed the specific Bean Boots sizing and ordered a 10. I normally wear 9.5 or 10, depending on the shoe maker. I ended up being happy with a size 9 in this boot. I plan to wear them with heavy socks as I expect to wear them in Montana snow. But I might also wear them for rain/slush with crew socks, and I tried these on with both socks and can be happy with the fit in what amounts to 1/2 size smaller than I would normally wear. Aside from getting the right size (thank you Zappos!), the width was perfect (I need a EE), and the lace up was comfortable, even new out of the box. I've always admired this style as a practical answer to wet and cold environments. Very happy to have these for this winter season. I suspect they will be even more comfortable as they are broken in. Not bad for out of the box. Classic boot, Made in USA, too!

These are addictively comfortable boots and worth taking the time to get the right fit. Bean says order 1 size to 1 1/2 down and they are right! I wear a 10 1/2 - 11 street shoe. Many years ago I ordered a 10- didn't like the fit- I love the 9's! I've tried a number of styles; my favorites are the unlined bottoms but the shearlings are great too. The unlined boots just have the most comfortable fit. The tops need some breaking in on this model, I think the flannel lined ones would be the most comfortable uppers out of the box..

These boots have come to be good friends of mine, and I don't see any sign of that changing for the foreseeable future. I bought them over two years ago to get me through the long, wet commute to class, and have worn them just about every day since. Their bulletproof construction delivers on classic simplicity and rugged durability, and have revealed to me just how important those traits are in a boot. They have been a reliable go-to, day-in-day-out boot for me, especially during the extended rainy seasons of Portland, and constantly make me want to take the scenic, muddy route wherever I go. They are not without their shortcomings, however-- at least for my purposes. They are admittedly not designed to be comfortable after the 14-hour days that I have frequently subjugated them to, but are remarkably comfortable all things considered. After two years, I am thinking about complementing them (i.e., NOT replacing them!) with a pair of Bean's Cresta hikers for longer, active days/hikes.That said, these have been on my feet for most of the waking hours of some of the most active years of my young life, and the chances that I'll be skipping along in this current pair everyday in four years from now is pretty darn good. More importantly, they have also revealed to me that my feet run on the extremely cold side, and if you also know that you have cold feet, or live somewhere that gets even marginally cold, I would suggest considering the insulated versions. No insulation plus rubber lowers, combined with preemptive thick socks plus no breathability, means FREEZING, damp feet sitting out on cold nights after a full day. If I had to go back and do it over again, I would have gotten the thinsulate versions at least, even at the expense of summer wearability. I'm serious here --my feet have been really darn cold, even with/because of extremely thick socks. Yet, despite their sub-athletic support and susceptibility to cold, I wouldn't return them even if I could. Their palpable toughness has encouraged me to go anywhere, and their simple design has allowed me to fit in everywhere. After two years of getting to know each other, I like the idea of having a pair of bean boots right by the door for the rest of my life --and at the spry age of 21, I hope for that to be a long time. Hats off to you, L.L. Bean. You've won over my business with a 108 year-old boot. PS. Trust them on getting a size smaller. Usually a 12, a size 11 fits me perfectly.

Shoe is a little larger than expected if I wear a regular sock with the boot. If I wear a thicker hunting or winter sock, the boot would fit better. Most likely will return for another size

I bought a size 1 or so smaller than my shoe size. I like toe room. I have a narrow foot compared the the medium men's size. I wear 2 layers of socks to fill the boot and prevent any blisters. I like the fact I can wash the boots off with a hose. These are perfect for working around my farmette.

We have 5 pairs of Bean Boots in our 4-person house. They keep our feet comfortable and dry, even in the worst weather. The sizing is a little weird, but talk to customer service on the phone or in a store and they are great at explaining how to order the appropriate size. Many people do not seem to know that if your soles wear out (ours did after years of use) but the rest of the boot is in good shape, that you can get new soles put on by LL Bean for about $40. We just had two pairs of boots resoled and it is like getting new boots for $40 per pair. As expected, the LL Bean repair folks keep you informed during the process and they did an amazing job. Definitely worth it if you like the boots you have but the sole has worn flat.

On my Xth pair now - still love them, from the Canadian Arctic (74 degrees N Lat) to the Gulf of Mexico. -- Size is a bit tricky, but the L.L. Bean sale staff were awesome helping me figure it out (I am a Narrow, but a N Bean Boot did not work). The website forced me to give answers about size, but it can be more complicated. -- Plan on insoles! For serious Cold Weather, these boots are Great, IF you use the right insoles. -- PLEASE, Keep the Mens Hunting Shoe in the catalog. Plain, simple, not lined until the buyer puts her/his own choice of lining into it. Thanks!!

This is the second pair of this type boot I have purchased from LLBean. The boot lives up to its reputation and value. The first pair of boots lasted 15 years before they wore out. No other boot compares for the quality these boots are. Best Buy for your money!
