The quality is not good. Sheds feathers and makes holes in fabric. When exchanging, was told this was a known issue, but is considered buyers destruction.. why sell a coat with this issue and not tell purchaser ? Shoddy.

I love the warmth and weight of this coat. I have noticed multiple spontaneous tears in the outer lining. I've been doing a lot of repair that I never thought would be necessary

I returned this coat because it shed too many feathers, mostly from the seams, but some through the fabric in other places. It is flattering and did not make me look like the Michelin man, so I was sorry that it had this defect. The quality seemed lower than LL Bean products I have purchased in the past.

Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
For the price, it was very thin in weight expected it to be more substantial.

I bought this jacket for my daughter. She already had to exchange it once because feathers and the stuffing keep coming out in places, especially where there are seams. The replacement jacket is doing the same thing.Otherwise she is happy with the warmth and the fit.

Runs a little large in size, so if between the sizes, should go with a smaller size.

I have been trying to find an LLBean coat that fit. The coats I've tried in the size I usually wear have been to tight in the arms and shoulders, but fit everywhere else. I ordered up a size and it did fit in the shoulders, but it was way to big and unflattering from the waist down. Please work on your plus size measurements and remember, not everything needs to be slightly fitted. Sadly, Ireturned the coat.

Loved everything about this coat, except-- the shell material allows the feathers and stuffing to pop through. Feathers can be discarded, but the areas that contain poly fill just keep shedding. I only had the coat for three days and decided to return it. In my experience, LLBean quality is excellent, so this was disappointing.

Bought my original coat early in 2020 & I live in the Chicago area.
Positives:
-V Lightwt for travel/ Flattering unlike most puffer coats/ Colour (mid green/blue)
Negatives:
-V surprised to find 1 inch TEAR as we have no dogs now & I only wore for low outdoor activity eg shopping/walks but kept it anyway.
-This winter the ZIP (never seemed strong & plastic?? started to stick & became impossible to zip up! I only had the coat a year & it was expensive.
- Temp ratings way off! This is a good Spring/ Fall traveling coat but not warm enough for Chicago Arctic winters.I wore other heavier Down coats for Jan /Feb.
- Customer Service in store rates positively as Manager exchanged my coat for another identical 1 in store quickly & painlessly... Thanks & appreciated in age of Covid
However I do not think this replacement coat will endure given the Neg Reviews of tearing & the plastic Zips breaking so I will update next year....Stay Tuned!

I really wanted to like this jacket. It's warm, so that's a plus. The feathers have already started coming out of it and I've only had the jacket for a few weeks. I was pretty disappointed considering the cost of the jacket.

I like the coat, the color (green), the stuff pocket. However, the sizing based on website & chatting with a customer rep was too big. I truly needed a medium. The coat is wide around the legs & allows cold air to go up. I wish I had bought the medium & large at the same time and could have returned the one that didn't fit. The medium was sold out when I called to exchange.
I know have the packaway - not as warm, a different color (dark cinder), more expensive & not as warm - but fits much better & lighter. Great customer service!

This jacket does not look like the photos on the website. It was too big and almost shapeless, not nearly as pretty as the images suggest. It does the job for blocking wind and keeping you warm, but for the price I don't recommend it.

I had high hopes for this coat, but it was too restrictive in the shoulder area. From armpit to shoulder, too narrow. Or the cut was not good. Cant really lift your arms to the side, or forward, without it puckering on the shoulder. Also, too tight between shoulder blades. The arm length was good ( I have long arms). The body width and length was good. I am slim. I did not think this coat ran large, although if I got a large, it probably would have been too wide.

I want to give this jacket 5 stars. It's lightweight and warm. I also love the gunmetal gray color! I would love to recommend to friends. However there are already two holes in the arms after only wearing it twice without rough activity. I'm a little disappointed that the material isn't more durable!

This coat was so incredibly warm and the fit was absolute perfection. The hood was snug and the zippers were great! I thought my search for the perfect coat finally ended, until I started seeing feathers poking out. Pushing them back in didn't work, and I started seeing this in multiple spots. I just bought the coat two weeks ago. Downside of down I suppose. Although I was tempted to keep it, I can't be worrying about feathers poking out on a $250 coat. I bought the dark plum and the feathers sticking out really show. Sadly I'm returning it. I have other petite jackets from LLBean and they're all great!

This coat is stylish, warm, light and comfortable. However, every time I wear it feathers come through at the seams and sometimes they just poke through the fabric itself.
I'm concerned that at this rate the coat is not going to last me very long. Also it looks odd to see the white down coming out of the dark grey coat.
It's an attractive coat but I'm disappointed with the feather situation.

Great coat . Warm , comfortable , easy to wear .
Was very disappointed after washing in cold water., mild detergent gentle cycle .
The puffiness loft) of the coat after washing completely diminished. Sending back to llbean returns.
Will get a replacement coat hopefully .

This is a warm coat and I like that the hood has a way to draw it tight around your face so the wind can't blow it down. After wearing the coat for about 2 weeks to work, I noticed a hole on the front, mid thigh. I called the store and they exchanged it for a new one. The sales lady told me that I would need to be careful with the coat because it's a little more delicate than some of the others. I found this incredibly disappointing for a store that has the reputation that LL Bean has and considering the price of the jacket. If it gets another hole in it, I'm not sure they will replace it again. I have been very happy with every purchase that I have made and the quality of their clothing until this purchase.

Unfortunately I really wanted to keep this coat but the extra small was too big. I thought it would fit as I bought the unhooded style several years ago in that size and it fit perfectly.....

I come from a proud New England family, and when I was looking to finally invest in a long down coat to get me through the frigid winters in Minnesota where I now live, the first place my parents suggested I look was L.L. Bean. We have all been customers for years, and have found the Bean brand to be synonymous with quality.
Unfortunately, we have all agreed that while currently warm and serviceable, this coat falls down in the "quality for cost" department. As many other reviewers have stated, it sheds down at an unseemly rate I got the coat right before Christmas and bet by next Christmas it will no longer be 850-fill due to the death of a thousand feathers lost. The material of the coat is also not anything I would want to catch on a shrub, in a car door, or under the claws of an exuberant dog. This is most definitely a "city coat" and not something you'd want to take out into the wilderness, unless rips and tears are your thing. As my mother said, she's glad we got this coat on sale, because paying full-price would have been over-paying for it by a lot. I would look elsewhere for a sturdier coat if you're an outdoorswoman and planning on getting a lot of wear and tear. I'll have to baby this one.
As an aside, I originally ordered the large and had to return it for a medium and find the medium to still be roomy; if you're afraid of ordering your usual size because you plan on layering or are afraid of sizing down, don't be this coat runs very "generous" in size.

Too short by 1-2 inches. Wanted this coat to hit just above knee like ones in the past! A hood is good but must be detachable! This weight coat great for fall to winter and winter to spring. Too short.

I ordered a 1x, it was to large, exchanged it for a xl. I would recommend this coat, but I don't like the cords for the hood, they stick out of the jacket and protrude on the neck! Also the hood is really large, when i put it on it flops down in the front, down by my nose. I do like the length and its a good windbreak. A little pricey!! I gave it an average rating.

The coat looks nice and fits great, but I do not think it will keep me warm enough. The weight of it is extremely light, which is what is advertised. However, I expected it to be warmer. I will be exchanging it for something heavier and hopefully warmer.
