Purchased this coat and liked it. Unfortunately, within a month or so, the zipper.failed. I exchanged it easily and new zipper works fine. Coat is warm but light weight which I love.

Like this coat. Long enough and wide at bottom so you don't have to unzip from bottom to drive. Warm without feeling really bulky. Good for moderately cold, above 0! I usually wear a couple of layers under coat and sleeves are still long enough.

This is my 1st season with this coat. I really like it so far. Until this year, it really didn't get below 20 degrees very often in the winter...but this season put this coat to the test. With temps in the teens and 30 mph winds - I DEFINITELY needed a mid weight sweater under this coat. It can't handle 20 degrees forget 20 below - LOL! As for fit - I love it - it's design flatters my hour glass fig. - however it does hug a bit around the hips...but the double zipper helps with that - especially in the car! What I like about this coat: it's light weight, packs very well - fits very well in my carry-on luggage; the blue is very flattering; the 4 pockets are deep and roomy. For me, this is a good coat for shopping, running errands, shoveling show; general walking around & traveling. While I do like the feel of the shell it does not seem tough enough to handle serious hiking, an hour in windy cold temps (e.g. - blizzard) or any extreme weather.

Love this coat. It is so warm. I typically wear a medium, and I wonder if I should have gotten a small. My one minor complaint is that the zipper is a double zipper, and it is sometimes hard to get it to zip up. Still recommend this coat though!

Minus 13 is the high today and this coat is just perfect. The length protects my backside and the zipper/hood comes up and covers my chin. Great coat.

I love the coat, comfortable fit, warm. My only concern is feathers keep coming out

It's my new blanket with a zipper. Wore in 27 degrees ice-skating party. Granite I was only outside to deliver cupcakes, sing happy birthday, then round squirrels for pictures, but body parts that were covered by coat were comfy. Hands and below knees, not so much. I had enough space to wear layers under coat.
I agree with feather complaints, however I only noticed feathers poking out after I tried stuffing coat in it's pocket when I packed for suitcase. I agree it doesn't stuff all the way into it's pocket.

The coat is very comfortable, warm, light weight and the hood is perfect protection from wind and rain. My concern is the quality of the zipper. This is my second season wearing the coat and the zipper is becoming increasingly more difficult to operate.

This is a lightweight down coat which is sufficient for most winter days in Wisconsin. I found the coat to be loose fitting so could easily wear a heavy sweater or undergarment for extra warmth. I would have preferred if the sleeves had a protective liner to help insulate. It does provide protection in light rain which was a pleasant surprise. Also would have appreciated an inside breast pocket.

I originally ordered a large which is what I normally wear. It was too big. The medium fits much better and is more flattering. This is not the most flattering down coat out there, but it is very warm. My only issue is that after a month of wearing it a lot of feathers are coming out of it. My husband has the shorter jacket and has had it a month longer and he does not have this problem. I got the ash color which is a mixture between tan and grey.

Overall. I am pleased with this coat. However, I'm not sure it's warm enough for January in Minnesota. It fits best with light layers underneath instead of a bulky sweater.
Love the colordark maroon!

The coat is lightweight and I especially like that it unzips from the bottom. You can wear a sweater comfortably underneath. However it isn't as warm as I expected. Plus I noticed that after only one month a down feather came through the sleeves.

Very light wieght and comfortable but would have preferred the hoodless one from last year. I expected the outer fabric to be of better quality for the money but we'll see if it holds up.

I tried and checked many times it won't protect cold weather in Michigan( I wore 3 layers ). Otherwise the fit and comfortable are the best.

Everything about this coat would receive a ten rating except, it was not warm enough. I live in lower Michigan and the winter temperatures so far have been in the 30's. I'm usually warm enough in most coats but this was described as being warm in much lower temperatures. Otherwise it's a great coat.

I wanted to love this coat but it was surprisingly large for a size small and I wished the hood were removable or stowable. It was very soft, quiet, and light weight. Returned it and bought another brand. Definitely buy one size down. Even with a sweater on the coat felt large.

I have 2 other similar coats bought over the years and love them and I still wear them. My only complaint with this was the color isn't what the webpage showed. Much more olive than the browner hue.

In the catalog it looked to be a warm shade of beige. After wrapping and labeling it for return, I did keep it in spite of its ugly no-color. I bought another of the same style in Black, which came very quickly. Meanwhile, we had really perverse weather, so I unwrapped the dirty-color coat and wore it through three days of heavy rain, cold downpours. and vehicular splashes. It sheds wet and dries quickly. So it lives up to its LLBean pedigree. I don't like it but do respect it and know that whatever it survives so will the pretty black version.

I ordered this coat as I have the short hooded jacket made with the 850 down fill and love it as it works in all but the coldest, windiest weather for general and active winter wear in the Chicago area. The coat is a few inches longer than it appeared in both the hard catalog and on-line (maybe the models are taller than my 5'6" with much longer legs), just skimming my knees. A little longer than I wanted but doable. The 2-way zipper takes some trial and error getting closed, perhaps because the coat is lighter weight than the other coats I've had with this type zipper. I hope it will get less frustrating as I wear it more often and get the knack. I just wish it would have been available in the lighter purple as my shorter jacket. The fit is spot on, as coats I've ordered in the past from LL Bean have always been.

I am happy with the coat, but I ordered the plum color, which looked like a pretty purple color on my computer screen. The coat is actually burgundy - almost brown - not at all the cheerful color that I thought it would be

I love that they put a hold on this jacket. It is a good fitting hood. However the hooded version doesn't seem as fluffy as my previous unhooded 850. It is the perfect length in petite for me at 4'11. The zipper does give me trouble on occasion which is annoying but overall good jacket!

I tried several down filled coats in other brands but found the fit, style and quality at LL Bean suited me best. I am 5'3", 112lbs, small fit well. This coat had room for heavy wool sweater, the hood closes nicely around my face and the shoulders are roomy. I got the marine navy which is a dark navy blue. We have had a lot of cold weather in NY and this coat keeps me warm. I wish there was a elastic adjustable cord around the waist to give the coat more style. the coat is very lite and packs into it's own pouch. Wish Bean would have more colors. All the zippers work well.

I just received this. I love the light weight and it should be very warm. Zippered pockets on sides are great and I love the deep pocket inside that will fit a big phone or wallet.

I love the coat. Keeps you warm but feels like a light jacket. My only complaint is the sleeves are a little too short. I bought and extra large and I wear a size 14. The sleeves should be a little longer.

I wanted a nicer looking coat for church and semi dressier occasions. I already own a very warm extra long Bean coat from years ago, which I love.
I ordered a petite medium in black. It fits over a suit jacket. It does look nice. However, I will say it is not super warm. It is okay when the weather is in the 20's or above, but with this recent very cold snap, this coat does not make the cut. Cold breezes still go through a bit. Hence, I rate it only 4.
