I always wash new clothing before wearing in cold water, gentle cycle. I set the dryer on low. Upon removing it from the dryer, the zipper no longer sat properly. The shirt shrunk and the zipper puckered up stiffly and could not be flattened. I think the quality of the zipper is poor and the construction of the shirt not up to LL Bean standards. Regrettably, it's on it's way back.

I washed the shirt when I got it and the leather zipper pull color came out on the shirt, then I was not happy with the quality after I washed it because it pilled up. I order flannels all the time for my husband from Beans and have not had a problem so I was surprised.

Love my flannel shirt and size and fit is great but the material balls up and looks bad. I think for the money this should not happen. I hand washed it and hung to dry but material look bad. Put in dryer on cool to fluff

I purchased this shirt for my wife and after she wore it several times I asked her about it. I forward her assessment. Usually a plaid shirt is a winner in anyones closet and grabbed first. This one, not so much. First of all, it is bell shaped at the bottom. Possibly because there is a one inch wide ribbon sown around the periphery giving the shirt rigidity allowing it to bloom out. Another drawback relating to quality are the two pieces of material sown on the lower inside supposedly representing pockets. Their appearance is more of an indication there was material left over so it was sown in. Last, but not least, is the zipper tab that fits into the zipper housing. This little metal tab is somewhat buried in the material of the shirt making it difficult to get into the zipper tongue used to pull it up.
It is also what my wife and I call a cold shirt. No matter what you put under it or on it...... it's just cold. It pains me to give this type of review because I love L.L. Bean products and usually give them very high ratings. But, my wife and I are honest.

This was a gift and looked absolutely adorable when I took it out of the package. It fits like wearing a large, square cardboard box.. Not sure how you could make something like this actually look bad when you put it on, but it does.

Everytime I sat down it puckered in the front because of the zipper. Very annoying. Returned.

I bought this shirt with high hopes. I got it and washed it before I wore it. I could not have been more surprised, it looked horrible. I ironed it and it looked a little better. I thought maybe washing it it again would help, I wore it a second time and my daughter said it looked awful. I am retuning it.

This is a great looking hoodie initially, but after the first wash (cold, tumble dry low), is faded quite a bit and pilled like crazy! I was hoping to wear it to work on casual Fridays this Fall, but now it looks more like something I'd wear to do yard work. I have a men's flannel shirt that's about six years old that looks better than this hoodie. Very disappointed!

I have used a razor on this for 2 days and I cannot remove all the fuzz after it was washed.

I really liked the look of this shirt and it appeared to be well made. I normally wear a Large (12-14 girl) but ordered a medium based on some reviews and some intuition. The body was large enough -- too large (very puffy in the back), but the sleeves were way too short. I'm not sure what body type this would fit, but sure wasn't mine.

I was very disappointed in this shirt. The shirt ran large to begin with, but it also is very boxy and out of proportion for even a jacket fit. I did not return it because I thought washing it might help to size it better, but unfortunately it didn't help. It is not comfortable as an over shirt or lightweight jacket.

Love the color and love the fit. Exactly what I wanted, but it looks like a box. It is way too short, at least for me. I sent it back.

I ordered a misses regular size small and I am 5'3". This shirt shrunk up so much in length after being washed that is too short to wear. The sleeves also shrunk. The zipper did not shrink, however, so now the zipper curves and bends because it is longer than the shirt. I want to return it for a refund but do not have the receipt.

I wanted to love this and a friend of mine has one that fits okay, but mine ballooned out in front and made me look seven months pregnant when zipped. I don't know if it varies shirt to shirt, but I had to return mine.

this shirt was soft and comfortable and warm. Just what I wanted to wear around my house on cold winter days. Then I washed it. Everything shrunk but the zipper. Now I have a wavy front where the fabric meets the zipper and it looks like a cheap discount store special instead of a quality product. I am returning it.( I did follow the care instructions when I washed it.)

Don't waste your money. This shirt is cut like a tent. Flares way out at the bottom..needs to be banded or a drawstring. I returned it and ordered the regular flannel shirt.

I do not like the quality of this shirt. It is not worth the money. The flannel is a very light blend and not soft on the skin.

I am very disappointed in the quality of this shirt. I loved it at first and it was very comfortable, but after I washed it, the zipper is very wavy. When I wear it zipped up, the zipper is still wavy and it makes it very unflattering to wear.

I loved the colors and look of the scotch plaid zip hoodie (I bought the Colquhoun color). However, when I washed it (following the garment washing instructions), I could not believe the huge quantity of shedding -even after washing it several times. I have purchased flannel shirts from other companies and have never had a problem like this. I am definitely sending it back. What a shame - LL Bean has had such good products in the past, but things seem to have gone downhill.

I was so excited to get this shirt to wear for a bachelorette party and it ended up being too big for me. It made me look way bigger than I was. I had to return it.

What is happening with LLBean standards? On a positive note, like other Bean flannel I've purchased, the cloth was lovely. The shirt, however, fit at very high waist, totally unsuitable for this style. The hood was so large that extended down into my face, making it useless as it would block one's sight. I am very disappointed - and this is not my only recent experience with shoddy quality. I had been a loyal and satisfied Bean customer for years, but will be leery regarding future purchases.

I loved the idea of the flannel hoody. I loved the material color everything about it and was very disappointed when it was huge in the front. You could have gotten 4 of me in the stomach area. Very disappointed when I had to sent it back!

I loved the idea of a zip up version of the flannel shirt with the hood. As I expected, the flannel was the same soft quality that I have come to expect from LLBean. That being said, tried on the zip flannel when I received it, liked the loose fit and sleeve length was a little long, which I like. As always, I washed (warm water) and dried (low) this along with a new button version in the black watch and the black watch button up came out fine, fits well, and the scotch plaid zip hoody sleeves are now too short for me to wear it. Even though the body shrunk, it was not as drastic as the sleeves. Am very disappointed that this happened as it would have been a great addition to wear over a t-shirt in the cooler mid-western weather.
