I read the LLBean customer reviews on this one and was concerned regarding the multiple comments on difficulty of taking it off/on with the sweat sleeves not being lined. I mostly solved this concern by purchasing a one size larger (ie, I normally wear a L so I purchased an XL). I had also planned on wearing a heavier shirt/sweater under this sweat, so the XL was a good choice for me. The XL size did come with a too long (for me) arm length but I knew that was going to be the case so I am OK with a short roll-up of the sweat sleeves. I do believe that a next LLBean design with lined sleeves would be a winner!

I'm much more concerned with it's use than just fashion-plate looks---which are just fine! So, I spoke with a product specialist RE: pocket sizes, and was given measurements (which were adequate), and was my major concern---problem is that the zipper size doesn't allow either wallet or phone to fit into the chest pocket. (Zippered pockets do offer far more secure use, however, they're too small for everyday items)---zipper pull-tabs are also "tiny." Fit & finish was fine, and the lining definitely allows layering and more versatile use---would have preferred a standup synthetic collar material that would wear better than this one. Also, I told the rep I wanted to use my $10 rewards, and that was not applied---seems to me that should be an automatic HEADLINE on my account for those taking orders???

This sweater fleece material isn't what I expected; it's finely ribbed, not as thick, and doesn't feel like my Bean's fleece vest on the outside. (The inside is more what I expected.) It fits great around the shoulders and chest, but the sleeves are 4" too long and there's no way to keep the cuffs from extending past my fingertips. (I wear a 16/32 dress shirt.) And there's a small hole in the left sleeve just above the cuff band. I'll return it and see if another fleece jacket will work.

I was looking to replace a well-worn LL Bean mid-weight fleece jacket and wanted something similar. This is not it. This feels and fits more like a sweater than a jacket. I don't need another sweater and this sweater-jacket is no warmer than my cotton sweaters. It is too snug to wear anything but a shirt under it. The sleeves are fairly narrow and clingy on the inside. I am dissatisfied with this product and will return it.

Typically top notch L.L. Bean product with one exception: the sleeves are way too long and there is no elastic in the bias tape to control the sleeves like other well-designed fleece jackets. Disappointing to have to take an $80 jacket to a tailor to make it like it should have been in the first place.

My husband did not like the styling of the collar. He also felt that the arms were a bit snug for his body type. He did like the fabric and color, but I returned it because he was not a real fan and I knew he would not wear it as intended.

I bought this to add to my collection of fleece. I have two other LLB fleece jackets and was looking for something in charcoal grey. I purchased this and was somewhat disappointed. It's been about 5 years since I bought a fleece jacket and was not aware what "sweater fleece" is. You hold this up to the light and you can see through it, to a degree. Not like my older fleece jackets. I decided to keep it but after wearing it a few times I wish I had sent it back. I guess I can live with the material...in fact I kinda' like it...but the inside of the jacket is fleece looking but for some reason this type of fabric makes it very difficult to slide over my dress shirts.
Next purchase I'll be more aware of the fabric type and read all the way thru the item description. The jacket says "slightly fitted" in the back/top but didn't notice that description until way down towards the end of the web page description.

I think the best way I can describe my disappointment with this product is that I feel it is billed as and built like a standalone fleece jacket, but it isn't. The fleece feels heavy, but it wasn't all that warm, and it has absolutely no wind resistance. It feels too bulky to wear comfortably under other jackets I already own, and you can't add much underneath.
So, while it looks great and fits well, I can't recommend it and will be returning it.

Initially. I loved the top, it is warm, and comfortable. However, after just a few washings, wareings it "pills" pretty badly... I usually wear a top like this 3-5 times before washing. I bought two of these in October of 2018, and by early 2019, they already look shabby... this would be after on 6- 8 washings and less than 20 wearings. They are not durable, compared to other LLBEAN fleece tops I have bought in the past. Not recommend.

I like this jacket. It's warm and comfortable but like the reviews by others,it's piling badly after only two washings.

I wear large/tall and have purchased many jackets and shirts from LLBean over the years. This particular jacket was too large around the waist and does not have any band to adjust fit either.
The jacket material is good quality and it seems like it would be a warm jacket.
I am exchanging for a tall/medium and will see how that fits.

This is a nice looking jacket. It is sized well and the material has held it's shape so far for the few weeks I've had it.
Problem is that it really does need to have a lining. Taking it off and putting it on is a real chore as the inner material grabs the arms of your shirt or sweater like it's a Chinese Handcuff.
The material does not block the wind very well but it does breathe. Good jacket for cool but not cold weather.

I normally take a large size jacket and this was verified by the size chart, however, the sleeves were way too long. There is no provision for tightening the cuff to shorten. Quality appeared acceptable.

Because the blue wasn't available, I went ahead and ordered the Deep Mustard. Bad mistake. I must not have zoomed in on the picture, because the color is awful.

In what has become a disappointing trend w LLB jackets, sleeves are way too narrow and tight. This is now the third jacket type product I have returned for the same issue. Never had this problem until about 2 years ago and I've been a loyal LLB customer for 30 years. Other than the sleeves and shoulders being too tight and restrictive, the rest of the sweater fleece jacket is great. Nice quality and weight. Large body fits perfect in width and length. I wear LT sport shirts from LLB for comparison. But the only way I could wear this is to wear a sleeveless shirt under it.

Thinner quality, but overall nice jacket. I'm 6"2, 265lbs, athletic, and normally wear a XXL in jackets, the one I ordered entirely too big, I'm swimming in it I'd size down for sure.

Nice full cut and green color but not having a cinch around the hem was and should still be standard equipment on this style sweater jacket or fleece... MAJOR let down...

I purchased this two months ago. The front zipper is not stitched straight, and has a noticeable curve to it. This affects the fit negatively, and makes the collar fit weird. I'm bummed that I can't send this back because I did not notice this until after the tags were off and I had worn it.

Received this item as a gift. The size is the one I always buy from Bean's. The sleeves are absurdly and annoyingly long

Lightweight and durable. Probably best for use during activities like hiking. On its own it offers little warmth and zero wind protection. Not what I expected from a product with sweater in name

Fit is poor. Arms are tight and torso is bulky. I am 6'1 and 175ls. Purchased the same product in different color a couople of years ago (at the same height and weight) and it fit great. Too much inconsistency in sizing.
Disappointed,

This doesn't taper and doesn't hang straight down, but actually opens up larger at the bottom. Nice thick, warm material. Might be nice for someone with extra-extra large girth, but not me.

I've had this for about a year and really liked it (and the vest) but the zippers have broken on all of them. Looking for a better quality option

I have noticed a significant issue with my fleece from L.L. Bean recently. There appears to be an adhesive between the inner and outer layers of a jacket that has caused them to adhere together, resulting in a very wrinkled appearance that I cannot seem fix. This problem started after my last wash, despite always following L.L. Bean's recommended care instructions. The adhesive has compromised the jackets, aesthetic appeal and functionality, making it unwearable. I am a big customer with L.L. Bean and have many fleeces from them without any prior issues. I'm genuinely curious about the cause of this issue and hope that L.L. Bean can provide me insights into why this occurred. Give my positive history with their products, I'm also hopeful that they can offer me a replacement or solution to rectify this situation.
Please see attached images, as you can see the layers are just stuck together despite me trying to separate them.
