I've purchased these flannel shirts for years. I ordered two new shirts to replace ones that have worn out over the years. The Grey Stewart shirt is replacing one that was 7 years old and the elbows wore out. It's also the 3rd time replacing it as it is my favorite pattern. Unfortunately the one I received is not of the same quality. First I had to remove several loose threads sewn into the stitching. Second there is white backing fabric on the collar buttons that if you wear the shirt with the top button undone (who doesn't?) you see these visible white "dots". And finally the fabric is pilling and fuzzy after a few wears and 2 washings. While it is said that llbean has been using the same Portuguese fabric company for the past 10 years something has changed. I will be wearing the second shirt I purchased and if it also pills I will be returning both to the nearest llbean store. Spending $6.50 to return these shirts is just a slap in the face. I will not order these shirts again. I would rather llbean raised the price of the shirts and sold the same quality product it used to.

I have been buying LL Bean flannel shirts for years for my husband. This shirt is the first one that is not up to standard. The plaid lines are completely mismatched not even close.

I remember when these were the greatest shirts. Made in Canada, year after year. Solid quality shirts. Then they switched to an overseas manufacturer, which was a step down but, over time, they became the comfortable norm. There was a consistency among both every shirt, size wise, both across and within tartan designs. Then they switched to a second overseas manufacturer, and these are nowhere near the quality of the last manufacturer, let alone the Canadian one. They're terrible. The dimensions are inconsistent both within and across tartans and the flannel doesn't seem as nice. It's a shame. I've been wearing these shirts for at least 35 years. Please reconsider your commitment to quality control with these items. These are Heritage LL Bean shirts and should be treated as such. Make these a no compromise, high quality, dependable product (again). Charge more, if you have to. I suspect you won't lose money. I hope there is a day in the near future I am able to rate five stars every time I order one of these.

Bought two of the scotch plaid shirts in the last 2 months. Both have pilled after one washing. I have others that are years old that still look new. Guess they changed their offshore manufacturing location. Or are just using cheaper material. Either way I won't be buying anymore.

I tried to replace a great shirt I'd gotten years ago - the sizing had obviously changed and the quality deteriorated.

First time I've been disappointed with an LLBean purchase. I confidently ordered this shirt as one of my husband's Christmas gifts, because his other LLBean flannel shirts were great. When I opened the package, I thought I had mistakenly received a pajama top - the quality of the fabric was terrible (thin, fuzzy). It was too late to return it, so I gave it to him (along with 2 LLBean Oxford shirts that were their typical good quality). Not only was the quality of the fabric pathetic, but the price was three times what I would have paid for a good quality flannel shirt from a membership warehouse.

I'd been denying myself a shirt for a couple of years. I sprung this year. The L had sleeves two inches too long. I drove to Kansas to exchange at your store and the Medium fit like a small and literally made it hard to breathe. Thus, I exchanged the shirt for a pair of mittens for my wife.

This shirt feels great. Care tag states: Do Not Iron or Dry Clean. How do you get 100% cotton wrinkles out?

Miss-sized or LL Bean has changed the way they size shirts. This one is cut much smaller than Bean's usual fit.

I'm not sure why I'm being asked to review this product because after ordering it the order was canceled by LL Bean and my money refunded. They said they would not be able to fulfill my order.

I've bought several LL Bean flannel shirts, and this was the first epic fail I've encountered. The fabric of the shirt was puckered, which was accentuated by the plaid design. It has stayed puckered since I bought it, despite many washings...and IRONINGS. I have to iron this shirt every time it is washed, and the ironing does little to alleviate the puckering of the fabric. I've never bought a flannel shirt from LLBean since I had this experience. I have no idea why this particular fabric was of such poor quality, as my previously purchased LLBean flannel shirts were perfect. Guess I should have just returned it, but I didn't... and have been unhappy with it since. I bought this a couple of years ago so hopefully the fabric has been improved since then.

I have several LLBean "wicked good flannel" shirts made in Indonesia that look and feel like new, soft and smooth, after years. This made-in-Nicaragua shirt is scratchy and pilly after only 2 washings. Yes, I know it's cheaper but it's still a disappointment.

I bought two of these flannels and im am completely annoyed. I cant even wear these because they fuzz off on everything. Why would LLBean sell shirts like this. How can anyone like wear this type of flannel. Its like wearing a shirt made of dog hair. My undershirt was completely covered in fuzz. It was all over my face, and was super uncomfortable. Im not happy because these were expensive. Im going to try and wash the fuzzy flannels to see if it makes them better, if it does not, I am going to return these. What i wanted was a flannel like item 253770 but of course llbean doesnt make those anymore. Id love two of those in XXXL

A comical amount of fabric for the body. Shoulders, chest, neck, and sleeves fit perfectly but when it came to the body I could wrap it around me. I understand traditional fit is more relaxed but I'm genuinely perplexed as to what body shape this fits.

This shirt is way oversized for a 44 chest size. Sleeves way too long, shirt tail also too long. The fabric is beautiful. Too bad I don't need this in my wardrobe. Returned it.

Two years ago I purchased this flannel shirt at the LL Bean store in Freeport, ME. At the time, I liked it for the rich look, fit and soft feel of the cotton. After wearing it a few times I washed it per the instructions. Upon removing it from the drier I was surprised on how much the shirt lost its luster and softness. I wore it again a few times and washed it a second time.... BIG disappointment. No way could I ware this shirt out to friends homes or anywhere else where it could be seen in public....it now looked like a very well worn flannel shirt that I had owned for 10 years. I kept it in my closet and wore it a few times afterward to do yard work but then never wore it again. It sat in my closet for a good 18 months It wasn't until having a conversation with a. friend of mine who was also shopping with me at the Freeport store suggested I return it given that LL Bean had a very good return policy. So the following day I headed to the LL Bean store in Paramus, NJ. You would think that they could not make matters worse but they did. Upon entering the store I noticed the shirt I was looking to replace stacked with other flannel shirts on a table off to the side. There was a sales person there carefully folding shirts. I showed her my shirt and compared it to a brand new shirt on the table and she quickly agreed that there was something wrong with my shirt and to see the cashier for an exchange. At the cashier I spoke to a polite gentleman who asked for my phone number. I provided it to him. I could see him looking for something on line....He asked me when I purchased the shirt and I said well over a year ago. He the began to quiz me .... " Did you follow the washing instructions ? " " Are you sure this wasn't a gift ? " " Are you sure you bought it at the Freeport store ? ". He said that he could not find the purchase. I then gave him a second phone number and again he could not find anything. He then called over another cashier who after spending 5 mins looking also could not find anything. A good 15 mins must have transpired and I looked behind me to see a line of anxious customers waiting to pay for their purchases. At this point my cashier calls over his manager who tries to explain away the disheveled look of the shirt..like I never owned a flannel shirt before. I reminded her that the shirt was washed only twice and it should never look the way it does. She then proceeds to grill me with the same questions ... " Are you sure you bought this shirt ?" Again I told her that I purchased it over a year ago at the Freeport store along with some fig jam and that my friend also purchased some items there. " Did you give the store your contact information ? " By this time a good 20 + mins must have passed and I could see the other customers in line staring at me like I'm holding everyone up.... very embarrassing. Finally , the store manager states that she can't help me and comments that the return policy is limited to one year from purchase. At this point I told her and the cashier that I had clearly stated a few times during our interchange that I had purchased the shirts over a year ago. Instead of wasting my time and creating an embarrassing situation in front of other customers they both should have said from the start .... " I'm sorry , but our exchange policy is limited to a year." At which point I would have said thank you and left the store. But no.... I was being grilled as though I was trying to return something I didn't buy or even personally own. At this point I left the shirt and walked out of the store in disgust. Upon entering the Paramus store, LL Bean had a customer initially disappointed with their product but upon leaving the store now they have a customer disappointed in BOTH their product AND their customer service.

I purchased 2 of the plaid flannel shirts and only one of them has the plaids matched at the side seams. The unmatched plaid looks like a cheap shirt picked up at the local discount store. Unfortunately, the shipping cost for an exchange or return, doesn't make sense. I wouldn't spend the extra for this shirt.
