Bought this shirt for my husband and initially we both loved it. Beautiful color (red plaid), soft and warm. Unfortunately after the second washing, the collar seam opened up. I used iron on tape to mend it rather than return the shirt. The opened seam is mostly hidden when the collar points are buttoned down. Hopefully the mending hold up through many more wearings. It's a nice shirt but I certainly didn't expect the stitching to come apart this quickly! Otherwise I'd have given it a 5.

I ordered the scotch plaid flannel - black stewart for my father for Christmas. Having never ordered him an LLB shirt before, I wasn't sure on size, so ordered an XL Tall. Turns out it is too big, so I was going to order the L tall and it is out of stock. Will this be available again? My father LOVED the shirt and was really disappointed it didn't fit, so I'm hoping I can still get it for him eventually.

This is a great shirt: it looks good, is very warm and soft, and is obviously a high-quality shirt for $29ish (I had a $10 gift certificate from a previous purchase). Unfortunately, it is enormous. My chest measures about 35" and I can wear a small or medium in just about every brand out there. So, I ordered a small, which is advertised for 34-36" measurement. However, it's too long in the sleeves and torso and too baggy in the sleeves and chest. If you're a bigger guy then go ahead and buy it - you shouldn't be disappointed. As for me, I'll have to return it or give it to someone else.

Macbeath Scotch Plaid Color does not match description. This is a red flannel shirt NOT blue.

I've gotten two of these shirts in the same size. The first fit perfectly, but the second feels half a size smaller. Since I tend to prefer my shirts fit snugly, that half size is the difference between just right and unwearable. The cuffs seem to be about a quarter inch tighter, the sleeves a half inch shorter, and the collar a full size down. Other than the size disparity, both are made out of really nice material. Very soft. The first has kept its shape after four washes.

This shirt would rate 5 stars except that it lacks fire retardant. I'm hesitant to wear it to often because I may unknowly get to close to a fire/flame.

Resent purchase of this favorite fannel shirt in Blackwatch pattern... Resent buy was XL (a bit big).. My original same shirt L fit close.. The next purchase same shirt L too small... This product has a irregular fit size I've not experienced with LL Bean shirts before... The fabric quality and stiching is superior to your competitors... When I next replace my "Blackwatch" it will likely be an LL Bean...

I'm not overweight and find that this shirt is cut so generously that I can wrap it around myself and button it in the back. Well, not quite, but I'd order more shirts if they fit me reasonably well.

It is a Xmas gift but altho the fabric is nice, I think the button down collar is too short and therefore skimpy looking. We'll see if my husband feels the same.

Bought this shirt for my husband and when it arrived noticed that the material is too thin. It is said the pattern is very beautifull but the material for a winter shirt is not thick enough. It is not flannel like the add said. Kind of disappointing.

I washed this shirt new and was surprised at the amount of lint that showed up in the dryer lint trap. The shirt is tailored very nice, and is warm, but after the second washing, and more lint, I'm wondering how long it will last.

I'm usually a medium, but this shirt in medium was so roomy I felt like I was wearing a coat. The flannel and design were beautiful, but either sizes are expanding like crazy or I'm shrinking.

I like the shirts but they were cut rather small. I washed them according to the directions and they shrunk about an inch in the sleeves. Will try a larger size to see if they shrink to fit.

Overall a good comfotable well fitting shirt for the the money. Soft flannel and should wear well based on weight. Somewhat surprised and dissapointed that the front button holes are not sewn arround the cutout portion, that is from front to back of fabric. Buttoning and unbuttoning the buttons causes the raw fabric in the button hole cutout to fray and give the buttonhole an unfinished look.

I've had LLB flannel shirts before, but now they've make the fabric too thin--not cozy and warm enough.

I've ordered many flannel shirts from LL Bean, but was slightly dissappointed with the last two. I love the plaids, but the flannel is quite thin, compared to others I've gotten. It is very soft and otherwise quite nice.

Nice shirt, but wash it by itself as it sheds flannel everywhere for at least the first three washes which is all I have done. The loose flannel sticks to any other shirts you may have in the wash. Other than that, the shirt seems good.

I thought this was gonna be a great shirt but after a few washings the sleeves started shrinking up and now they're too short. My man has long arms (he's 6'2") and I probably should have ordered the tall size shirt but the length in the torso still seems OK - it's just the darn sleeves! So frustrating and disappointing!

Overall this is a decent shirt. The flannel was thinner than I expected and the colors are a little different than the way it looks on line. I purchased two shirts in different colors. I would say that the quality is average and the price a little high for the quality of the shirt. There is nothing wrong with them, they just aren't really as nice as most LL Bean shirts I have ordered before for my family.

Nice fit in body and neck. The sleeves are too long. If there were a selection for shorter sleeve, I did not see it when ordering. I would recommend this item if you have long arms.

The quality of the material is great, especially for the price. The one big flaw (which took it down to 3 stars) is there is 1 too few buttons at the bottom. I am only 5'8" and the last button is about 2-3 inches above my belt line, leaving a gaping hole in the bottom of the shirt above my belt. I will not order anymore because of this flaw. This lack of a bottom button was on 2 shirts, so it was not a one-time error.

This shirt is a light-weight flannel sufficient for moderate warmth. One complaint with many shirts of this type is that there is only a general sizing available which doesn't allow for proper neck size, a measurement that is crucial to comfort.

L.L.Bean plaid flannels have worn well in the past and last a long time. This "new" model has thinner material (apparently lower thread count). That is OK for fall wear but may be light for winter. The greatest drawback, however is that the two pocket version is much more expensive now and this version has a smaller front pocket. It will no longer hold what I carry. So, while a comforable shirt, it definitely has been "downsized" to meet a lower price point.
