I normally wear an extra large so I ordered an extra large. When I put it on it was way too big. I decided to give this one to my son-in-law for a Christmas present because it's a good quality shirt. I ended up ordering a large and it fit just perfectly.

I have loved LL Bean's tartan shirts for years. They are well made and comfortable. The only thing I don't like is that the material seems to get thinner over the years.

This shirt was a good fit, but a bit overpriced, even with discount. After two washings, colors are becoming dull.

Visually, the plaid doesn't match up at the seams, a sign of mediocre construction. Surprised me when a friend pointed it out to me during Thanksgiving. I'd think twice before ordering again considering the high cost of this casual shirt. From what I can see this was not the case in the past.

My new first or second favorite shirt. It took Ten days to get here. It wasn't cheap, and I had to pay shipping. The size is LARGE, the material, at first, seemed thin and cheap, but after washing a couple times seemed to fluff up somewhat. I am satisfied and recommend it.

I liked the pattern and colors but was disappointed in the size (traditional fit) because it had a very loose fit and the material was lighter weight than I was expecting.

Nice flannel shirt, but a bit large. I would have preferred to be able to wear shirt outside pants, but looks a bit tent like. Ok when tucked in. Hopefully it will shrink a little after being washed and dried. Considering returning it for a large. I always find xl fits me well, but this is a little bigger than expected.

Little disappointed. I buy most of my husbands clothes at L.L.Bean, and for the first time, I am not thrilled with the shirt. Only complaint is that the collar, after laundering, does not fold back the way it should, so it needs to be ironed--not my favorite thing.

First purchased the large in traditional fit but it was much too large. Exchanged it for a medium in "Slightly Fitted" and that fits perfectly. It is warm and comfy and washed without shrinkage, but does require a little touch-up ironing.

The material is fantastic and fits great throughout the shoulders and chest but is pretty blousy in the lower trunk so it fits more like a pajama top. It's fine for lounging or working outside but I don't think I'd wear it out of those circumstances. It'd be perfect if there were a slim or athletic cut available.

This review may not make it into publication because it's pretty out there. I had been DYING to order the women's Black Stewart relaxed fit shirt and thought if I waited till mid-Oct, I could certainly still get it. Wrong. My size in that women's shirt has been sold out for a long time. I actually bought this men's shirt out of desperation. Since I am pretty good with a sewing machine, I figured I could remodel it. It didn't turn out too badly --- I added a slight curve to the waist and shortened the sleeves. But I now think I should have just accepted the fact that the women's version was no longer available. So that's my story.

I have washed this item twice now and have had a large amount of lint in the dryer. The fabric is not as soft as the one I bought last year. Very disappointed

I really liked the styling, color and feel of this shirt. It's warmer than many flannel style shirts but I was concerned since the sleeve length was so long. I ordered two more shirts in medium and they fit perfectly. Since many other Bean shirts I purchased were a Large, I think this style runs a bit larger than others.

Too big doesn't mean it doesn't fit. The shirt is awesome quality. Bet I'll be wearing it for lots of cold seasons. It is a little too roomy in the torso and I have seen a lot of reviews saying sleeves were too roomy and long. I don't have a problem with that. Normally buy flannels in L and just don't dry them to avoid shrinking. This I will dry once after the first wash (before I wear) to see how well it shrinks to fit better. Overall not displeased at all, just if you don't want to hassle with what size is best, my bet is go 1 size down from normal flannel size; but drying often may make it too shrunk after a while. Sizing and fitting style is not bad, just a little bigger than you think it will be. (Depending on if you're a guy with mass or with a scrawny build)

I normally wear a size large but this shirt swallows me. It fits fairly well on the shoulders but the sleeves are about 4 inches too long and it's very roomy through the body. I really like the look and feel of the shirt and have ordered a size medium, hoping that it will be a better fit. Fingers crossed.

This shirt is great! So soft and comfortable. The only thing is that it seems that all clothing companies (not just LL Bean) seem to be making everything bigger. I had an old XL shirt like this that fit great, but this one fits a little bigger than I would have expected.

I mistakenly ordered this, not realizing it was NOT a chamois shirt. I wear chamois shirts from October to May. But this shirt has its place. It is between summer (canvas shirts for me) and winter (chamois shirts). It seems well made and fits nicely in the period between summer and winter (in Wisconsin).

This is not the same quality of material as the one I've had for 2-3 years as it needs more touch-up ironing. Otherwise the color is great and it feels good to wear.

I bought the shirt online and really liked the blue in the MacBeth Old Colours version. When I got the shirt, the blue was darker and a muddier shade. When I opened the package, included was a flier for the plaid shirts, and the blue in the flier was a prettier, lighter, clear blue. The color in the catalog was also a prettier blue. I was very disappointed, and sent it back. Four stars for not being the same color as all their advertising.
