This is a perfect mid/light weight flannel shirt - not too heavy, but not too light either. I'd like to comment specifically on the Grey Stewart color. This is a wonderful color - goes great with my mid-60's grey hair. You may laugh at the previous statement, but if you've "been there, done that" you'll know what I mean. If not, try it - you'll like it!

I purchased one each of the "Black Watch" and "Grey Stewart" X Large. Both fit very well and look great. Wore one up to the local mall and a complete stranger asked me where I purchased the wonderful looking shirt!! Way to go L.L. Bean!

I'm about 6 feet, 165 and I ordered the small. I like my shirts pretty fitted, and this shirt fits me perfectly. It has enough room in the body so that it can still be layered, which is great. The quality is excellent and if cared for well, I see this lasting many years. The best thing about these patterns is that they're timeless. I own the blackwatch, and will be ordering a couple more patterns once I catch them on sale!

This shirt is great! The flannel is very soft and a medium weight so it is warm but not uncomfortable to wear indoors. The stitching is very nice and the buttons are thick and sturdy. I am 6' 0'' and 160 lbs and wear a 40 reg suit jacket and the SMALL fit perfectly in the shoulders and torso. The down side of ordering down a size is that the sleeves could handle being another half to one inch longer. If they made a small for the "tall" selections (even though I'm not that tall) that is what I would buy purely for the sleeve length. Overall, I think this shirt is a great value for the money. If it holds up as well as I think it will then I'll definitely be back for more.

I love the vibrant colors and soft flannel feel of this shirt. I wear it over light weight long sleeve tops and it adds an extra bit of warmth OR if I'm a little warm, I can shed it. It is colorful and attractive and I don't hesitate to wear it as a light weight "jacket" when I run errands in the Fall.

These shirts has been very good at keeping me warm during the winter. The flannel and is nice and soft and snug as a bug. I would recommend these to my family and friends especially those who have Scottish in their family like I do. Well worth the money!

My husband has been wearing these shirts for over twenty years. I hang them up to dry to avoid any shrinkage, because he likes the fit exactly as it comes out of the package. He is 6'1", 166 lbs. and a medium fits him perfectly.

Just received the Wallace pattern in XL yesterday afternoon, and I've been wearing it since it came out of the package! This is easily one of the nicest shirts I've owned. The fabric is soft and not too thick. The sizing is perfect for me. Now I'm back to order more colors.

Thank you, I asked and you listened. The Buchanan pattern flannel was brought back after many years. My husband was surprised and happy. I bought a few so he has some spares.

I have owned a few flannel shirts from other merchants over the years, but these have proven to be the best by far. I own two at present, and expect to pick up a third in the near future. The flannel has a wonderfully soft hand and keeps you warm in the chilliest of weather. I like to match mine with a River Driver henley shirt on the coldest of days to stay toasty warm. The colours are wonderfully vibrant and work equally well with jeans or chinos. I even match them up on occasion with dressier pants and a chino blazer for work-casual Fridays at the office in the late fall and winter.
Another Bean favourite.

I love these shirts but I'm unbelievably disappointed to see that the three styles that have been out of stock recently have been removed from the site. I find a number of the new styles somewhat ugly compared to the three that have gone.

These shirts are truly outstanding, I own 12. The fabric is so comfortable wearing with or without a t-shirt, the colors never fade, the material never pills, the button caller retains its shape even after a bazillion washings, the Tall Medium size fits me perfectly overall and has just the right sleeve length to cover my wrists without affecting my hand, and they look great on. But I have three requests: (1) Please offer this shirt in two different Scottish plaids (one large pattern and one small pattern) with dark brown as the main color, even better if they have have lighter shades of brown, tan, and cream for the remainder of the plaid (NO oranges, yellows, aquas, teals, or purples, in other words only man colors); (2) Add a pencil slot to the pocket; and (3) Please keep making all your shirts in size Tall Medium.

Just received the Buchanan plaid and was initially wondering if the wrong selection had been sent as the colors were much more brilliant than what is shown online. I actually love the plaid just fine and my wife was really in favor of it, so it's a keeper for sure. I searched on Buchanan and found images that matched the shirt exactly - rather than what is shown online (which is much more muted towards olive and maroon) - maybe it's just my eyes. Otherwise the flannel is outstanding as usual and I'm really going to enjoy wearing this when the weather cools.

This shirt arrived in the mail yesterday down here in Hobart, Tasmania. I immediately put it on. Absolutely fantastic. Comfortable. Well made. A great fit, and a good length so it wont pull out. Just perfect for our mild winters down here. Can't get shirts like this locally. Thanks Mr Bean!!

Received as Christmas gift and have been wearing all the time since then. Still looks great after many washes, and maintains its softness and warmth. I will buy another one soon. I wish these came in plain colors.

Fabulous shirt. Soft, warm, great colors. I wear it over a sweater around the house as added layer; this is my fourth Bean's flannel shirt -- I couldn't live without them.

I got 5 of these for my husband after reading the excellent reviews here: these shirts are so wonderful that we purchased the other 2 tartan patterns as well! Absolutely incomparable, luxuriously soft and thick flannel; have never seen such nice fabric! Shirts are well-made, wash and dry perfectly, and the tartans are classic. These will last for years, as several reviewers have already noted. A quality shirt!

I am a bit of a flannel junkie during the colder part of the year, and there is no other flannel shirt out there by any other maker that retains its original shape and soft feel like these. I own 10 of these and they are all I wear from October to April. They all look as good, if not better than when I bought them! Thank you, LL Bean!

I bought this shirt for my husband for the holidays, and he loves it! He says the quality of the shirt's material and construction are superior to others, and loves the colors. The fabric weight is not too thick, which is nice for Florida winters. The shirt washed beautifully and is immediately wearable.

I received two of these shirts for Christmas and enjoy them a great deal. The fabric is warm and feels wonderful. The colors are rich. They neither shrink nor fade in the wash -- and they feel superior to brand name flannel shirts I find in department stores.
My only (minor) complaint would be about the monogram. I got the classic style monogram on each shirt and you can't even see them. The monogram is on the chest pocket and only about the size of a dime. Adding further insult to injury, the monogram on the black watch shirt is a dark navy color, practically invisible to the naked eye. We have the Bean Visa card which means the monogramming is free. That said, I would not pay for that feature with these shirts.

My wife bought me a nice Pendleton flannel plaid shirt, and I liked it even though the price was about $60 retail. It felt good, so I thought I'd get a couple more, and Bean had a sale on. I purchased one Kingfield and one Scotch Plaid. They arrived and looked very good. I washed them both (neither bled or faded), and they didn't shrink much at all nor were they misshapen by the washing and drying process. They actually came out thicker and softer feeling. The shirts are very well made for nearly half the price of the Pendleton shirt, and they look better after washing and drying than that shirt (which did fade a little). One indication of the quality is that the placket is double-stiched, so that it doesn't flair up in the drying process. The button-down collars keep their shape, too, and aren't so large that you can wear them buttoned or not. I think this is one of the best buys I've seen in recent years from Bean. The shirts are true to size, too, and do not follow the disturbing trend of size creep that seems to make mediums too large these days. This fits like a classic-fit dress shirt, and I'm a 15-1/2" neck, 33" sleeve person. At regular price, they are still a good deal!
