I bought them to replace my 1st ever pair of TOPOs ...hot pink Hiking boots.... they were/are so comfortable on my feet. But after 2 plus years of hiking the local trails of Arizona, including the Grand Canyon and backpacking in Yosemite, the tread was shrinking. I have been wearing these new TOPOs on daily walks. Today I took them on their 1st hike up a local mountain trail, on my feet of course. I am missing the ankle support but the overall comfort is still there. Even though I liked the color, the shoe felt a bit tight in the width. I am going to try another pair to see if there is any difference. Give it a try, Zappos truly is the best!

I was going to return these, but they worked well with new orthotics. More supportive than my older Topos and with a Vibram sole for better traction.

These are too "shallow" to use a custom orthodic.....they are quite comfortable with the insole that they come with

I haven't done daily long miles yet but so far 7-12 mile hikes with my pack they are great! I had plantar plate surgery in July. Padding and protection are important. These already seem like they will work. Loved Altra Times but not the 0mm drop for long hikes over weeks. Tried Hokas but the toe box is too narrow. I can't wait to do a long hike with these. My only complaint is they come off as greedy by making them compatible only with their "special" gaiters. Not thrilled to need Velcro patches that tend to come off.

I loved these when I first put them on. I have narrow feet, and they fit pretty well in my true size. Walking around the house, these rubbed my little toes as the shoe folded.

Love the initial feel of them, but wasn't sure if they were too small or not. I usually wear between a 7.5 and 8 in hiking shoes and these were an 8. The fit was snug around my mid-foot, which is what I wanted, but unfortunately these were just not wide enough for me. Either that or too short. On a long hike, my toes were killing me going down, down, down hill. If they had a wider version I would definitely try them again.

Compared to the Topo Mtn 2 racer these were too narrow in the toe box so I returned. I was bummed because out of all their trail shoes I’ve tried these had the cushion I prefer.

I use these mostly for trail running. Grip could be better, I still slide on wet rocks and loose gravel. The fit is great, plenty of room for wide feet, but not too loose. The color is great.

I run through the woods about 3 miles every day. I was looking for a shoe that was more secure in the mid foot and heel as compared to my Altra Lone Peaks. The Topos delivered except that the toe box still is not wide enough. Also, they run short. trying a half size longer did not cure the toe box issue.

Lot of trail hiking. Sure would be nice to have a removable rock plate for the shoe. Adding my inserts really changes the fit and not in a good way, but saves my poor feet from rocks and scree.

I’m new to this brand and wow my toe box has never had so much room. If you have any issues with this I recommend this brand. I believe this shoe has a higher drop than their other styles. It was between this pair and Brooks Cascadia (their toe box is wider than most athletic sneakers to me). I went with Brooks because of style and drop even though I think the Topo wins out on toe box width just slightly. I will try again in future. I recommended to my mom as she has same issues as me. Highly recommend it just might take time to get accustomed to the drop and look of them.

These feel and look great. A little more give in the toe area than I wanted, but I’m going to give them a go for some moderate hiking. Please note these shoes run super small. Order at least 1/2 size up from whatever size you usually get for athletic shoes.

Love the snub nosed look of these shoes. The purple color is actually quite nice and more muted than I would have thought. With my prescription orthotics in, they are very supportive and fit my wide toes and narrow heels perfectly. The soles don’t have a lot of bend to them, which is what I wanted. Unfortunately, the other reviews were correct and these really do run small. They are shorter than most running shoes. My big toe is almost right up against the end of the shoe in my normal athletic shoe size of 9-1/2, and I don’t have long feet! I have ordered a size 10 to see how that works, but in the berry color since purple is sold out in that size.

I usually wear a 9 in running /athletic shoes. I originally ordered these in a 9 and they were too small. The 9.5 fits close to my usual size 9. Unfortunately, these were a little too narrow in the toe box for me. I have been wearing the Topo TERRAVENTURE 3 and prefer the fit of that style.

These have been the only shoe I can wear for years, other than birk sandals. I can put my orthotics in and they are tolerable. I did not like the lugs on the sole and had those removed. I love the width of the toe box and the laces. It would be perfect if the heel counter were more extended. I actually prefer more padding on the sole of a shoe but the Phantom did not suit my needs as my orthotics were not comfortable in them. I'm going to order another pair but in half size smaller this time, which is my true shoe size. I think since this shoe has such a nice, roomy toebox, you may not have to size up as you usually do with other athletic brands.

The shoes are comfortable, the only issue is that the arch on the right foot feels like it's in the wrong place, the left one feels great.

Why, oh why did you change the lacing and the toebox?! Sigh. The shoe is still great, wears well, and with good cushion for long days on the trail. Had several pair of the original in women's size 7 that were wonderful and I had zero foot or toe issues. This version has a more strictive toe space and fancy lacing that has led to toe knuckle callouses and side foot blisters. I tried size 7.5 but those are really sloppy. Put the same toe box on these as the Mountain Racer and it's a winner.

I so wanted these to work out! Overall its a beautiful shoe. The idea that the toe box was expanded was hopeful for my arthritic big toe metatarsal. However, the lowest area of the laced area rides exactly over that foot area and is extremely tight without any possibility of re-adjustment. It was instant excruciating pain as soon as I tried these on. Unfortunately these are getting returned.

I love this shoe. It's the only shoe I have been able to wear for a long time. I need some stability and I need cushioning and with a pair of Hapad Kompf orthotics, these deliver. However, the lugs on the bottom of the sole bother my feet, hence the four star review instead of five. I really wish Topo would make a road shoe with cushioning, light stability and a moderate pliability like these. I'd be all over that, as I'm sure others would too. And thank you for making these in a 10.5!!! All your shoes should come in that size. Some other color options would be great for this shoe as well.

This shoe felt really comfortable right out of the box, but after walking around in it inside my house for a couple hours my feet began to ache. Apparently the way it is structured doesn't work for my foot. I loved how light weight it was and thought it might work for hiking on easy paths long distances, but it just won't work for me.
