I always tell people that Topos are the perfect mix of a Hoka and an Altra. The cushioning with the "truly" wide toe box is so comfortable. I don't even have to break a new pair in. They're just good to go right from the box. The only issue I've ever had with them is sizing. It can be tricky to find just the right size. I feel that they tend to run a little small... at least the Ultraventures do.

I've had these for two months and the bottom tread is already wearing down and there are worn spots developing in the heels. They look like I've had them for a year. I wear them to walk 10-13 miles per week on a cement walking path. They are super comfy and my bunions don't hurt as much, but I would expect a shoe at this price point to last longer than 2 months!

I love these sneakers. They are amazing. I have been searching for a great pair of sneakers after other brands I was wearing changed styles. They are so comfortable, offer support, and don't feel heavy/clunky. I typically run on road and off road on trails/cranberry bogs. I've had them for a few months, and they are holding up well. I will definitely be buying these again.

I wore these everyday for 38 days straight of hiking/walking 500 miles across Spain. They were perfect for the varied terrain (mixture of rocky hiking and road walking). The fabric on inside of the heal started to wear and expose the inner padding, but I wasn't surprised for how much I was wearing them, and they still made it the whole way. I also did a bit of trail running in them before the hike, and loved them for that as well! 100% am buying another pair.

These are by far the best trail runners for my picky feet. I run on rocky trails in AZ and I have plantar fasciitis. When I discovered the Topo line 3 years ago no other brand of shoe can compare. I've owned the Terraventure and Ultraventure. The Ultraventure 2 upgrade has a much better feel on my foot. I love how the offset laces allow for a tighter fit on the foot versus the Ultraventure 1. My only suggestion is if the lugs can be made of a stronger material so that it doesn't wear down so quickly. Otherwise these are the #1 trail shoes on the market.

I picked up trail running for exercise earlier in the pandemic but within months, started developing plantar fasciitis and Morton's neuroma from wearing wide width trail running shoes that were too narrow for my wide feet. After researching trail running shoes designed to to provide ample toe room for my toes to spread, I decided to try the Topo Athletic Ultraventure in size 8.5 under Zappo's 30-day Runlimited program, after reading positive raving reviews about how it reduced foot pain. (I also tried the Altra Timp in size 8.5, which fits great, and has enough width to easily fit my feet.) To my disappointment, despite wanting to love it, the Topo Ultraventure is a bit narrow. It also has a weird design where 1 line of webbing goes across the top of the foot, corresponding to the area above the metatarsal / ball of the foot). I thought maybe I would need to try breaking it in to really experience the benefits, but after running for a week, I found it squeezes my feet in a way that causes pain at the base of the big toe joint and the pinky toe joint on both sides of the feet. So it worsens my neuroma and plantar fasciitis issues in the metatarsal arch area.
I'd also recommend:
Altra

A friend recommended Topo for their wide toe box. While my neuroma did not flare up thanks to the toe box, I wound up returning these. I experienced cramping in my midfoot still trouble with plantar fasciitis. Also, after two days wearing them, the upper began separating from the sole on the inside of the right foot. Not what I'd hope for in brand new shoes. Luckily, the 30-day trial and customer service made returns easy. Would recommend these for someone else with fewer foot problems!

The mid sole of these shoes feels cushioned but not too heavy underfoot and makes a really nice combination with the grip of the Vibram outsole. These shoes have worked great for me out on the trails as well as on icy and snow-covered sidewalks and roads this winter. The fit feels very secure. The third and fourth lace holes from the bottom are offset from the rest which enables me to lace the shoe with a nice hugging fit around the middle of the foot. Overall, I have really enjoyed the fit and feel of these shoes on trails and winter streets!

I was trying to replace an older, wonderful Topo shoe, and this model proved to be too flexible and not supportive enough. It is probably a fine shoe, just not for my feet.

After searching for a light trail shoe with a 5mm drop, I tried these and love them. Wide toe box. Stiffer than Hoka but not terrible. Doesn't dry as well as Hoka. But overall quality is so much better. Order a half size bigger than normal size as it seems they run small. These were under 8.3 Oz with same drop as the Challenger and I am permanently switching to Topos. Great cushion for ultra races but a light shoe. Less bruising of toes for wider feet in downhill races due to wide toe box. Feels like quality while earring.

The Ultraventure 2 is a top quality trail running shoe that is now my go to shoe. I have been an Altra fan for many years but decided to try the Topos because the Altra shoes are not what they use to be. These Topos have plenty of natural toe room and wonderful support through the arch and heal. It makes for a nice feel on the trails and my feet are always comfortable through high mileage running. The cushioning is also really nice and supportive throughout the shoe.

I do think the new version is slightly bigger, but not enough to size down. I had to do a runner's knot, and tie them more snuggly than in the past. Otherwise, they are the same great trail shoes. Perfect marriage between comfort and minimalism.

I run trails 3 days a week. Love the wide toe box, and the heel stays put... no slipping. The traction is great in mud. They don't have a rock plate, but the cushion is perfect. Rock plate not needed.

The fit was excellent and there was plenty of room in the toe box without the shoe feeling loose. The arch support is built in to the shoe, not just in the removable insole. The shoes feel very cushioned. I chose a different pair in the end because the other shoes accommodated by orthotics better.

My wife runs approximately 40 miles a week. She has worn Brooks, Altras, Salomon, and Hokas. She loves these shoes the most! They wear well and have great traction on the trails!

Great toe box. Well stabilized for supination. Nice dirt grip. I'd love a more zero drop in this level of padding, but it's a favorite show die long trail runs.

I have almost completely collapsed arches and flexible feet. I have a bunion and a neuroma and arthritis. I have been misdiagnosed, had a botched foot surgery, had a nerve in my foot injected, broken toes, you get the picture. I have not walked more than a half a mile in ten years. I must have tried on fifty plus pairs of shoes, with and without inserts but could never wear anything but a birkenstock sandal. That's cold in the winter in the northeast. Today I thought I 'd try one more time and went to a local running store, requesting a broad based shoe with a wide toebox, firm but flexible support. This is what he suggested. I'd love to be able to wear them without an insert but for right now, I have to wear a foam insert to assist my arch area. I'm actually wearing them now and I love them!! No one has any idea how happy I feel right now! Thank you, Topo, for this excellent shoe. I will buy more colors when they are available. I hope this review helps some other person who struggles as I did, for over ten years, to find a shoe that works for me.

I wear my Topos for everything, but particularly for walking. I do a lot of hill walking in my neighborhood and they seem perfect for that. The wide toes make them really comfortable and the cushioning is great. I use them with orthotics for plantar fasciitis and this works well. I've been wearing Topos for several years now and I think these are the best ones so far.

I love my first pair of Topo Ultraventure trail running shoes which i use for hiking not running. Wide toe box is fantastic. They are showing wear and i have bought and returned the Ultraventure hiking boots, the Ultraventure 2 trail running shoe and now the terraventure trail running shoe. None have the wide toe box (all seem pretty standard) and the edges of the interior where the tongue is feels lumpy and doesn't sit flat. Version 2 is NOT an improvement. Very disappointing.

These are my 4th pair of Ultraventures. I find them comfortable out of the box. I normally wear wide in road shoes but these fit my feet perfectly and my feet do not go numb.

A pedorthist recommended this shoe to me when I was suffering an intense bout of plantar fasciitis. I could not hike or garden or even walk comfortably. These shoes were the only footwear I could tolerate and I'm convinced they helped me heal. I've just ordered another pair. Can't imagine wearing anything else for my outdoor activities!
