Needed 990 4E Latest model at least two sizes too narrow!

I've worn nothing but 990's for years due to foot problems. Unfortunately the V5 has lost the magic. I ordered same size as last time and they were too tight in the toes. There was also a lump in the sole under the right toe and made it very uncomfortable to walk. The softer insert led to more unwanted motion in the heel and pressure on my bone spur. I had to return them and go back to my V4's which are terribly worn out. I'm feeling pretty discouraged about what to buy next because I really do need a new pair of shoes.

The tongue had a very thick seam that dug into the bone on my foot and caused a bad bruise forcing me to throw out the shoe

After less than one month wearing this senakers for daily walks of 2-3 miles, I developed Achilles tendinitis on my right side. Very disappointed because these sneakers are my second pair of 990V5 purchased this year and this particular pair are not the same. I'm stuck with them as they have been used for 3 weeks.

I own the 990v4 and really like them. When came to buy a replacement, the 990v5 was a no brainer. Unfortunately, they were too small. My toes touched the end of shoe. I bought the same size and width 12 2E. I returned them for a refund. For $170+ per pair, the shoes touting made in USA, should be true to size. I don't know how the garment and shoe industry get away with making products that "Run Small" or "Run Large". Instead of making shoes true to size, New Balance forces consumers to send back shoes. New Balance pays for the return shipment and now has to ready the shoes for resale. Wouldn't it be cheaper to just make the shoes true to size?

The shoes I received had been worn by some before they were sent to me. The topside were dirty and there was a hole in the top of the toe area of the right shoe. The ball of the foot area, as well as the heals were worn, the shoe liner was worn and dirty. Not what I-expected for shoes costing $180.00. I could hav purchased shoes at a second hand store for $1.00. I just returned them, and can only hope that the replacements I ordered will be in a New Balance box and not a unmarked brown cardboard box. I hope that is was just a mistake and not Zappo's policy of not inspecting returned shoes, and just sending them out to the next customer. I am far from happy as I waited almost two weeks for them to be shipped.

Size was ok but the shoes feel big and heavy, not what I would expect from a running shoe. I've had the previous models and love them, not sure why this pair feels like I'm clomping around.

I have used the 990 series (990, 992, 993) and different versions for 30 years. The 990's that came out a few years ago were great. They lasted longer than the 993's I had been using. But the new version (V5) is terrible. My legs and hips ache after walking for an hour with the v5's. Not sure what changed but for me it has been a disaster. Now have to shop for other brands unless you can bring the V4's back.

Paid over $200.00 for each pair and upon receiving the product the sizing was a 1/2 size large and little arch support? Than after one month of wearing the product the soles started cracking loose from the upper and the actual sole coming loose from the main body. One pair was for my son and both of us have had to quit wearing them.

After trying to give the new Version 5 every benefit of the doubt, I have concluded that the changes made to the Version 4 shoe are an outright disaster. With Version 4, I could switch to either my work or dress shoes with no problem, however with the newer Version 5 that is not possible. I would recommend that New Balance keep senior citizens in mind before making changes to their line of shoes. Those of us seniors who have lower back problems rejoice when we are able to find a shoe combination that allows us to maintain an active life style. I would strongly recommend that New Balance re-evaluate the changes made to the 990.

Used to wear these shoes as walking shoes but I find them too heavy nowadays. I have switched to another product.

I have worn this shoe before and have really liked it. This time I wore the shoes before realizing they were so large. They are marked “7” but are 1/2 to 1 size too large and I feel as though I am wearing clown shoes. Not happy.

I have worn New Balance Stability shoes on and off for years. Had great hopes but was painfully disappointed. I'm 71 and need fore foot cushioning. The 990v5 was like walking on a brick. No support and no cushion. After 5 hours at the warehouse, I hobbled down to get real inserts. They heloed alittle but can't overcome the poor design and the tongue falling over every 5 minutes. I would have returned them but theyr'e soiled from the warehouse. Width was closer to 6E than 4E.

I've purchased the 990v for years...the 990v5 is simply uncomfortable...a distinct lack of cushioning and the fit is wonky. I guess I'll try to find another running shoe, darn.

These sneakers are by far the worst pair of new balances I've ever purchased. I decided to splurge on them (I normally pay 80 or so a pair) The back of the sneakers are bent and can no longer wear them after 2 weeks of use. They also won't give me a refund. This is the last pair of new balances I will ever purchase. Terrible customer service.

Worst pair of 990s I've ever owned. The heel doesn't have enough padding so the plastic used to stiffen it, jabs through. I had to return one pair after a few weeks because it was wearing a hole in the fabric...the second pair is doing the same thing. Stick with the 990v4.

I had previously purchased these in size 8 but returned those because they were a half size too big for my son. These came covered in pet hair.. I will not keep them.

Firth thing is the tongue. It is too short and slipped down in the shoe within a very short time into my run. The shoe just feels too bulky to be a running shoe. It is not light and breathable like my other running shoes. If you're buying this as a casual bop around shoe, thwen it may work for you. Still, you may have the tongue issue as well.
