These are legit skate shoes.
I use these to skate transition. I like the high-tops because I'm in my 50's and pretty new to the sport. I took a fall on a roll-in where I think the support these provide were really helpful. I did get a sprain, but I think it would have been worse with less ankle support.
These also have more suede than other models. Suede is critical for abrasion resistance. More is better. The soles are very durable.
To be honest, these aren't super comfortable to walk around in. But, I didn't buy them for hiking or wearing to the mall. You need board feel, which is hard to get in more cushiony shoes. I feel like they've struck a good balance here. I really appreciate the fact that they've maintained the features important for actually skating.
Everybody says they look great. I didn't buy them for looks, but this is a plus.
I would love an option for a lace cover so the laces don't get torn during knee slides.

I love my pair but yes as others pointed out they are hard to get on if you have wide feet. Make sure you go a half size bigger.

This is the perfect sk8-hi. I wear them everywhere everyday. From the office to the range or the skate park they hold up to serious abuse. Great shoe

I use these for weightlifting as I need a flat shoe with ankle support and they're great. Definitely not for any cardio workout or long distance walking but awesome for weightlifting and everyday use. They look really good too!

I remember my first pair of Van Doren shoesmy parents dear friend used to work for The Van Doren Company in Anaheim and bought a pair to metan suede with blue solelove them. This is before yhe "Van" heel logomy pair had the full last name "Van Doren"so, I've worn them for a large part of my life. My latest pair is the best paireach pair I purchase will be my best. Oh, and I am a skater and 59 years old!!!

Prior to a couple years ago, I always bought the regular canvas slip-ons. I needed something nicer to wear to work though, and got my first pair of these. They do look nice, and I was surprised at how comfortable they were. Kinda trashed my first pair wearing them so much, and got another pair of canvas ones. They just didn't hold up as well, so I got a second pair of the skate to keep nice, and still have my original ones to mow the grass in and stuff. Also recommend the water and stain shield.

I would marry this shoe if it were legal. Amanda Vans...how does that sound? This shoe has a more comfortable, responsive fit than the base model. Internal tongue straps keep the tongue in place without constricting your feet -- you can't even feel them. And when you want a more relaxed fit, simply remove the POPCUSH footbeds. The checkerboard flag on the side adds a nice visual touch. Why are you sitting there? Buy this shoe already!
