I LOVE this hat. It is lightweight and of great quality when you hold it and wear it. You may think you'll look a little nuts wearing it, but there's something kinda cool and sporty about it. Plus it covers your neck and sides of your face! It feels more protective than wide brims due to the side flaps. I wish I bought one sooner.

I don't like sun exposure, but I'm not a hat person. I bought this for my husband because we explore outdoors a lot, but we were so impressed with it, we bought one for me too before a big trip to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. We had people asking where we bought them. We love their practical diversity and comfort, and the customer service cinches us as happy campers! BTW, I'm petite and he's not, but the medium fits us equally well.

This is the PERFECT hat. I've purchased several other models in the past, and just bought 2 more of these so I always have one handy. The opening in the back is in the perfect place for a pony tail, and the size adjustment makes it fit like a glove - er.... a perfect-fitting hat. The neck gator is removable and the hat looks fantastic without it.
You will not be sorry if you buy this hat!

I hiked up the old mount Lowe trail in Pasadena Ca. and this hat protected me wonderfully. It did get sweaty but it felt good against my head as it remanded cool during the day hike. I am determined not to get skin cancer.

Most sun protective and functional hat I've ever owned. My whole family has them, in multiple colors. Only downside is that the colors as represented online are not true to the actual colors. The blue is less blue-green than pictured, and the green is a drab olive.

This is my go to hat when it is hot and sunny outside. Literally, this hat
Is the only hat I trust to keep the sun off of me. However, it has one major flaw. In the back above the adjustable strap is there is a hole there that exposes the back of your head to the full sun. Not a big deal to you folks that have hair, but for a bald man it has to be modified. I have purchased three of these hats, and everyone of them I have to get my thread and needle and sew up the backend I would give this hat five stars, except for the fact that I have to modify it a little bit. I don't know why they left a little patch in the back where someone like me could get severely sunburned.

Soon after buying this hat, I took a four-day sailing class, so it was a great test situation. I got some sun on my lower face because of UV rays reflected off the water, but it would have been much less if the side flaps had one additional snap up higher to close the flaps higher over the chin and mouth. Other than that shortcoming, the hat performed superbly.

I appreciate that Sunday Afternoons designs accommodate my large (24 1/2") head, but the elastic on the cape of the Guide is so tight that the sweatband digs a furrow in my forehead and I get a headache after a few hours. The production quality is excellent, the fabric exceptional, and I can replace the cape with a SPF bandana underneath the hat so all is not lost, but beware if you have a large head -- you might not be able to tolerate the fit of the cape.

An excellent cap and cape
I have full coverage in the constant hot sun, I can wear collarless tee shirts and the nape of my neck is protected
Much better than the Ultra Adventure
I really like how the cape detaches and I have a regular cap
The Convertible Ventilation is dorky, the flaps do not stay in place with wear, the look like odd ears
Please get rid of these silly flaps and use the UPF 50+ mesh like you have on your Ultra Adventure (one star off)

The cap is light & comfortable. Based on the lack of rash outbreak on my neck (photosensitivity), the fabric is effective sunblock = YEAH :-). My only complaint is that the sizing strap on the back slips. Prior to purchase, I communicated with Sunday Afternoons about the cap sizing (small head - contrary to what ex-wife says... :-) ). From the communications, I knew the small would be too big. But I hoped with the sizing strap fully pulled in, the cap would fit properly. It does. However, the strap slips; resulting in me having to pull it in a few times while wearing. Other than that, the cap is just what I need.

I recently replaced my well-worn Sun Guide Cap. It has been my favorite go-to outdoor cap. The new one, however is bigger and deeper (both are medium). It does not fit as well and slips down too low over my forehead and on my glasses. This is a disappointing discovery. The one improvement I do like is the little tab for tightening -- even though I am unable to tighten it as with the previous design. I wish a small size were available.
Service is great.

I've had this hat for a few years - love its lightness and style, and sun protection as far as it goes. What's missing is a cape large enough, with a couple more snaps, for better nose and mouth protection. I've had skin cancer on my nose, so it's an issue for me. I know I'm not alone. Other hats/scarves/neck gaiters are dumb-looking or too hot. This hat is so cute and has such potential if only the designer would design in an option for more lower-face protection!.

I like the hat. Used it on the a long distance hike. It would be great if it came in a few more colors.

This is my 2nd hat just like this. I've just about worn out the first. I have skin cancer and won't go out in the sun without this on. Great for out on the lake or anywhere that has full sun. Thankful to find this hat. It is very durable.

Have owned beige for yrs with no issues. Recently bought blue but it's made differently and leaves a giant ridge across my forehead.

I've had three of these over the last 2-3 years. I actually like the hat but... problem is that the folding seam wears out in 6-8 mos. Seam tape gets a hole and fabric wears through. This is an expensive hat for such a short lifetime. I'm unable to attach photos from my iMac, FYI.

Hat was working great but blew off my head and sank to the bottom of the river. In terms of sun protection it was great, but a real design flaw that it doesn't float and doesn't have a chin strap. I had been hoping the adjustable back part would be enough, with the chin part buttoned, but alas it wasn't.

The "curtain" material is very flimsy and when I unsnapped it, the snap ripped out of the cloth. So, I recommend not buying it.

I really wanted to like it, but the button got off the first time I wore it.
