I just got three cross hikes a few weeks ago and I love them so far. I took them on a 5 mile hike and they didn't require any initial break in time. During my hike, there was quite a bit of elevation gain and the shoe performed well, great support, and felt comfortable and breathable with the goretex material. I am so happy Salomon has come out with a line of new hiking shoes this year that are lightweight without sacrificing support and comfort. The cross hikes work well on my wide toe box. I have bunions and flat feet and these are going to be my new favorite hikers and ones I wear on the daily, running errands. I usually wear a size 7 in salomons and they did run a bit larger than usual Salomon's so I would size down a half size. If you like extra room and thick socks, then stay with your true size. I do always like extra room because my feet swell a bit after long hikes.

I took these up North to the Sierra Nevada before the snow melted. I used them for the first time to hike to Kearsarge Pass. As always with my experience of Salomon shoes, these were comfortable and did not require breaking in. The traction was so good that I didn't feel the need use my microspikes. I would definitely recommend hiking with these in snowy/ wet conditions. My socks stayed dry and my feet were comfortable the entire hike. I ordered my usual size but found they were as bit loose, so consider sizing down.

Along with hitting the trails with these, I have worn them to the grocery store, while doing yard work, dog walks etc. thinking that I'd have to break them in due to the shoe being so sturdy, but I was wrong! Great comfort from the very beginning. I typically wear a size 7.5 and have a wide footprint, so I must admit I was a little nervous when I ordered that size but to my surprise they fit so well. No pinching on the sides, no blisters. I was also very pleased with the stability/grip from these shoes. I hike with my 11 month old who rests in a carrier on my back so there is little to no room for unstable footing. Highly recommended to all the other hiking moms out there! Now I must add, if you're planning on doing lots of side steep terrain I suggest you just spend the extra $10 for the Mid version. This past weekend i took these to a very very steep hillside trail and boy did my ankles feel it. My soles felt great, but my ankles got a workout. Overall, I think I've found my new favorite hiking shoe!

These are the perfect shoes for springtime hiking in Colorado! I wore them while hiking in mud, shallow water crossings, and melting snow and stayed comfortable and dry all day long. The Cross Hikes have great traction which allowed me to walk across slippery logs without falling in! I love that the laces tuck away into the tongue so I didn't have to mess with muddy laces at the end of the day. I typically wear a size 9.5 but have to go down to 8.5 in Salomon shoes. The sizing of the Cross Hike is very similar to the Speed Cross running shoes.

I love this shoe for the access it gives me: rain, snow, mud, or rock, the Cross Hike lets me go anywhere my feet will take me....DRY! I've never before had a shoe that lets me run through muddy puddles and melting snow to still have dry feet after 3 miles, and so I'm now a lifer with the Cross Hike. Thank you, Salomon, for the best shoulder season shoe a girl could want!

Bought for dog walking/walking in Scottish hills and some DofE work. Love the comfort and ease of on/off, although not as laterally stable as my XAPro3D's which remain my goto show for stability and activity. Love the comfort cushioning in the sole on the Cross hike though. Already have a friend and mum wearing these for their comfort! have had them around 2 months and just beginning to show signs of wear/tear on the upper at the sealed rim area.

The boots were a Christmas 2021 gift from my hubby. We live and hike in Colorado. I've worn them only a handful of times. The boots are very comfortable, keep my feet warm and dry, have great traction and been stable in rocky, snow and icy conditions. My only issue it that I cannot keep the quick laces tightened and then my feet don't feel stable. I have to stop several times to tighten back up as the laces have loosened. I have to tie them around the fastener and knot the lace to keep it from moving. I'm getting frustrated as i know this is not how they are intended to perform. Any suggestions?

These shoes are extremely comfortable. I have a wide foot and like having a bit of extra room in the shoes, but some people might prefer to 1/2 size down for a tighter fit. I could have gone down to an 8 from my normal 8.5 and they would have fit perfectly, but I'm keeping the 8.5 for the roominess. If I order again, I might try an 8.

Used these shoes on a few hikes now and are very durable. The downside is that the quick laces are designed very poorly. The laces get caught on the "eyelid" piece like a pinch point and makes it extremely difficult to take the shoes off and difficult to tighten the laces. If it wasn't for this feature they would be 5/5.

They were comfortable from day one, but I found that because they were all gortex and it is now winter my feet felt colder than wearing a mixed material shoe. When they got wet it felt as though they were leaking, this was due to the weather temperature and the sensation of wet gortex on my toes. As a previous review stated once mine were wet the smell was horrendous and nothing seems to remove it. These shoes I feel are better suited for Spring and Summer wear rather than very cold and damp days.

I have had at least 20 pair of Salomon hiking and trail running shoes over the years. I love everything about them. However, my recent 2 pairs of Gortex trail running shoes started to have an overwhelming cat urine odor. I tried everything to clear the odor and nothing would remove it. They would smell up an entire area. None of my hiking shoes, or any other shoe for that matter, has ever had this issue. It happened both times with these shoes. I did contact Salomon and they apparently haven't had this issue before but if you go on-line, you will see it is an issue with several shoe brands. So love the shoe, but had to throw out two fairly new pair in great condition due to the intense cat urine smell.

I hiked in a torrential downpour with these shoes. My feet kept dry, however, after I had let them dry, they smelled terrible. I washed them with baking soda, vinegar, Downy Unstoppables, and Tide TWICE, removed the insoles, let them dry in the sunshine and they still smell absolutely horrible. The odour smells like cat urine. On a positive note, the shoes are incredibly comfortable and supportive. I walk approximately 15-25km 5 days per week. Love the gortex option, but I've never experienced such a smell after washing and drying other gortex clothing/articles that I use.

I think the shoe runs true to size. I ordered 1/2 size smaller based on reviews and it was too short. I have a narrow foot and he side of the shoes rubbed my ankle bone.

I'm a real outdoors enthusiast from camping, to hiking, to walking my dog, to just always being outside. Comfortable, gripping and reliable shoes are super important to me. Feels like it should be a good pair of shoes, but too many defects. The area where the front of the foot sits is way too big. My foot slides when I'm hitting the trails. Creates a lot of friction and hurts my upper foot. Couldn't go smaller cause then my toe would touch the front. Not the greatest size conception. No grip on wet wooden surfaces (almost fell when crossing a slanted wet wooden bridge). Pros: waterproof layer is superb. My foot never got wet when purposely walking in puddles. Can't stand boots, so the shoe format is great. They look nice. But that's all. Way too much bragging in the description of the shoe. Doesn't do justice. I prefer older models of Salomon shoes. What has happened to good old well fitting durable shoes ? Also I had to size half a point down, so beware when choosing your size.

I bought this at the beginning of the season and they were ok for the first 4 hikes. At this point, the shoe has really bad gore-tex and any amount of water soaks right through the shoe. I really wish these had worked out but I don't see myself wearing these for much longer.

Until Salomon started redesigning the tongue area on their shoes, I was completely unaware that they were ever an issue! Now, I find them too tightly restrictive on most of their current designs, pushing down uncomfortably on the top of the foot, with no means of easing without cutting fabric. On the plus side, this particular shoe is one of a very limited choice where that is not the case. However, the tongue is unusually short, barely long enough to hold the laces, and so gapes at the top when secured. The fixings for the laces on this shoe are as prominent on the inside as they are out, so perfectly positioned to rub against any bony points at the top of the foot. After only two short walks in them, I was contemplating finishing my walk barefoot! The shoes are lightweight and I'd hoped good for warmer weather, but thick socks are essential because of this, or socks with extra padding other than where hiking socks would typically have it. Who knew a simple pair of waterproof, Quicklace, hiking shoes, as I've worn for many, many years, would become such an ask?! Time to look beyond Salomon, I regret :-(

The Cross Hike were a replacement for my very comfortable X Ultra 4 Gore-tex which had developed a hole in the tongue after a few wears. The Cross Hike were not as comfortable as the X Ultra but I kept them as they appeared to fit, and were the only other shoe Salomon produce which are waterproof with a high level of support. The first time I wore them I developed a pain under my left foot. I now wish I had opted for a direct replacement of the X Ultra, or got a refund from the retailer, as there is no way I can wear these. I can't understand it as I have worn Salomon for several years, with no problems and love my current Quest 4 Gore-tex.

I really love these shoes however they emit the most awful smell. I have tried everything to resolve the problem without success. I see other customers have the same problem but there is no indication how it was resolved. Please help.
