The size and comfort is great. The color wasn't the best.

I broke a bone in my foot several months ago while wearing a recognized brand hiking boot. I jumped a few feet down and out and somehow didn't land right. My son convinced me to try a trail shoe rather than a boot because I didn't want to put the boot back on that resulted in my first-ever broken bone. I have used this new NB on three mellow hikes (both about 3 miles one way and an elevation gain of 1500'. So far they have been fabulous. The trails were dry, so I don't yet know how these will hold up in a wetter climate. If I could change one thing, it would be the width of the toe box...it's a tiny bit narrow. I ordered a .5 size up because I've read a lot about the need for the .5 when descending trails. This was the right advice for me. The arch is still in the correct position, but my toes do not hit the end while hiking down. I'm happy with the purchase!

I am 5'11" and about 128 lbs. I use either my custom orthotic inserts or OTC inserts (i.e., I never use the inserts that come with the shoes). This NB model is true to running-shoe size (I wear one size smaller in street shoe). I was more than ready to hit the trails following 2 months of post-arthroscopic knee surgery restricted activity (NO running). These trail shoes didn't disappoint. A 12-mile trail run the first week out of the box yielded no negative comments. Would recommend.

Love the shoe, however I bought these for their heel toe offset of 8mm to help with Achilles pain/recovery. The heel of the shoe rides up so high and puts so much pressure on my Achilles I cannot wear them for running.

Good looking shoe except the "flap" on the back-not sure what that's for. One and a half sizes short. I sized up one size already, still short.

I really wanted to like these shoes, but the length and width were just a bit tight for my feet. Definitely, did not feel like a wide shoe to me.

I bought two pair cause they fit and NB shoes are the only tennies/sneakers that fit my feet. 4 stars because New Balance should be ashamed of such a ridiculously thin 'insole', if it can even be referred to one.; why not just use a piece of cardstock if you are going to go cheap. Why not consider making a great one that can be purchased and replaced and will absolutely give the best fit? When I finally need to buy a new one, I hope these shoes still fit and feel as great. Anyhoo, nice job on color selection; it's different but calm....kind of a purply-brown and also the tanner beige with some bright green.
PS I would LOVE to be able to buy an older style that were super tough and fit like a dream. Is there somewhere to reference an old style that is comparable to one of the newer styles? It would be very helpful.

I had high expectations here. After wearing them to work for a full day I noticed that my feet were sweaty. The padding around the ankle is so thick, almost too bulky and boxy looking. Even though I feel that I have the correct size, my feet feel huge under all of this shoe. Definitely didn't blow me away. I'm hoping over time that they will form to my feet.

These are comfortable but the sole is not stiff enough for a trail. I could feel every rock.

I bought these to incorporate into my trail running. I went to the beach in them before hitting the trails and while on a very light jog on the downslope of the hard sand, I twisted my ankle due to lack of support. I couldn't run for a week. I finally got them out on the trails and my foot moved around all over the place in the shoes with almost zero stability for the ankle. This was my biggest concern. These shoes are fantastic shoes for hiking (walking) and maybe flat only trails with no challenging varying terrain. Your foot just slides off the sole of the shoe when you land on a rock protruding from the ground while running down hill, which creates a huge liability running in these shoes. It was scary running a full speed hitting these racks and having my foot just slide all over the place. I kept them because they're comfy for walking or hiking basic paved or no rough terrain trails and they look cool. Get them for hiking with friend on your local trail. You'll love them. I do not recommend for trail running backcountry style. NB, I'm still looking for that perfect trail running shoe with support.

I've worn the 1080's for years. I was hoping by the look that these would fit the same. No. Not really wide and did not feel supported. Returned
On the positive- absolutely love the color. Perfect for outdoors

I purchased an 8W which has been my normal size but this shoe felt smaller and narrower than other New Balance styles I have purchased (almost like it was a 7 1/2 medium width). I love the color and style but reluctantly had to return it.

This is my second pair of these shoes, I walk 10-20 miles a week on trails. In general, shoes of these type no matter the brand do not last very long for me. They get very uncomfortable quite quickly. I've noticed over the past 5+ years that shoes have a very "foamy" sole with little to no substance to them. These particular shoes seem to be a little bit less "foamy" or "squishy" hand have held their structure a little better. The first pair, I replaced the insole when they began to get uncomfortable with an insole that had a beefier arch and some "cushion" to it. It was designed for runners. This helped the shoe last longer.

All of my other running shoes are New Balance, so I was excited about the Hierros for trail running and hiking. However, they are so much narrower than other models that I could barely get my foot in. Once I got them on, it was clear they were going to cut off the circulation to my toes once I started running. They don't seem to be available in an extra wide. Definitely cool looking, but just too narrow for this 9 wide New Balance fan. Going back.

I have wide feet and I wore 9.5 W in New Balance before. These shoes were not large/wide enough, by about half a size, at the toe bed. I am ordered 10W now in this style, and trying a different New Balance style in E wide. I'll report the outcome. The cushioning of this style Fresh Foam Hierro feels very good. Hope the next ones fit. i will use these for urban walking.

This shoe runs 1-1.5 size smaller and was too narrow for my foot. There was no protection for toes in toe box area unlike Altra shoes I prefer. Toe box area runs tight and shoe rubbed mu skin raw against ankles & heels because the fabric is cheap low quality and abrasive. Must wear these with socks but they run too small to even get dress sock in them. The hot pink shoe laces & soles were the best thing about these shoes. I have narrow heels, bunions, edema at ankles and need a wide deep toe box. People who don't have these issues would probably like these shoes. New Balance used to have way better comfort, quality, styles & color selection than their shoes now. I prefer Altra & Asics shoes these days.

I love my NB Hierro V5s. I think the V6s don't have the same quality - the laces and mesh are low quality. I had to return these shoes.

I work on a farm/garden center. I expected this shoe to be perfect for the gravel/asphalt/dirt surfaces. It might be, for someone with a curved foot. My foot is much too straight, and 3 of my toes on each foot are equally long, so a rounded- toed shoe works better. For my straight foot, my big toes ended up in the center of the shoe's toe, and my other toes were squished to the side. After a week of trying to make the shoes work, but with blistered and shredded toes, I abandoned the somewhat pricey pair of Fresh Foam Hierro v6. I miss the 1365 shoe (I had bought many pairs over time). If you have a curved foot, it could work. But not with a straight one!

I was really excited when these came in and they felt comfortable at first try on. I went for a longer walk in them (about 4 miles) and was starting to get this sharp pain on the ball of my foot. This is my first pair of New Balances and I've never had these kind of issue with other brands before. I'm normally a 9.5 but would recommend sizing up as they are right on the cusp of being too small. Sadly since I've already used these, I cannot return. I'll be sticking with my usual Hokas in the future.

They looked and felt very cheap, very stiff and nowhere near worth the price or even half the price.
