We were looking for soft-sided bags (no wheeled bags) that did not weigh more than 35 lbs packed for travel to Australia for 17 days, including remote parts of the outback and the Great Barrier Reef. We are two parents and three teens, one girl (16) and two boys (14.5 and 13). We originally ordered the next size down and discovered that that measurements in the descriptions were way off this bag is closer to the measurements for the bag the next size down. This smaller bag was too small; this one was perfect. We did not have issues with the divider moving. It stays in place if the bag is packed relatively full, but it is meant to be a bit flexible to accommodate sized items, such as shoes or a dip kit. The zippered sizable compartment at the end was excellent for storing wet, smelly, dirty hiking sneakers and keeling dirty laundry from clean. The inside zippered compartments were great for isolating toiletries, meds, underwear, etc. The bags were left in the rain and nothing was wet. They were all packed pretty full (not stretched, just full) and we dis not have to check them on any flights, either internationally or domestically. We all used the backpack straps to carry the bags through the airports easily, although they did get heavy when we had a lengthy walk between terminals at LAX. We're so glad we can use them as carryons going forward roomy, but cheaper and easier than paying and waiting for checked bags.

As soon as I opened the box I was impressed with this new duffel bag. The material is lighter weight than the standard base camp duffels and has a softer feel, but I don't think durability will be an issue. It seems really well built just like the rest of TNFs travel bags. I like the interior organization panel that can be attached in two different places to change the size of the interior compartments.
Im using this bag right now to carry my mountain biking gear to the trailhead. I can hold my medium size hip pack, knee pads, helmet, sunglasses, a light jacket, and nutritional stuff in the main pocket, with two water bottles and my shoes in the exterior pockets. Even with all of that, there is still some extra room in case I don't want to drive in my riding clothes.

I have used this bag for 2 week trips through Egypt and Peru. It fit everything with room to spare! The backpack straps are so convenient and it really comfortable to carry around. There were multiple days where we were in between hotels/cities and walked all around town in our bags (my husband has the same one) and were never bothered by them. The two side pockets are roomy, one has all our travel meds/I call it the pharmacy drawer and the other fits one to two pairs of shoes. Highly recommend this for the active travelers or for weekend getaways as well.

I've been using this bag for years. After losing my last one I had to buy a new one immediately because this is the perfect single bag travel item.

Got this as a gift and the recipient loved it. Vibrant color and great for weekend trips! The laptop pocket is also a nice addition on this one that the other bags in this series do not have.

Bag is rugged, made well, and checks all my
Boxes for functionality while still true to the brands philosophy.

This is the perfect size! I use it to pack gear for yacht racing and it's great for day trips or overnight. Comfy, zippers are great, durable and packs down small.

The bag seems well constructed with quality fabric. I like the padded bottom (instead of just one layer of fabric like a lot of bags I looked at) and the interior divider to keep clothes from shifting around too much while being carried in different orientations.

Best traveling bag out there. I just took a three week trip to Europe. This bag holds so much, it's comfortable wear, and can be a carry on.

Really like this bag. The only thing I wish they would add is a place to strap the handles to when you are using it as a backpack. It's a little uncomfortable especially when the bag is full. Other than that I love this bag.

This bag is everything you need for a weekend trip. It comfortably fits 2-3 days of items and is very convenient with shoulder straps that snap off at the bottom and hide in flap. I was going back and forth on the size but the 42L is perfect, anything smaller I wouldn't be able to put all my item. The material is amazing, softer than the larger camp bags I have and also looks cooler

I had a very old, I would say Gen 1 North Face duffel from the early 2000's but this new generation of bag is FAR superior! I was so impressed when I received this 42L. I choose to keep it over the Cotopaxi version. The material is lovely, smooth and soft. The straps are very padded. I really like that it folds into itself for storage when it's not in use. I also like that there are way more pockets than the Cotopaxi version. It isn't really shown online but there is a large slip pocket (no zipper or snap) where the straps come in and out for storage that is perfect for items you need to easily access. The shoe compartment at the end of the bag is also very roomy. I like that there is a hidden laptop compartment built-in that rests safely on your back while wearing the bag and I also like the move-able divider inside the main compartment. I would recommend this for weekend camping or as a carry on for flights.
