My older designs model (old lace system) lasted me 5 years in Vancouver Ca. Hiking in British Columbia in some tough mountain hikes, Grouse Grind and beyond. They lasted years and only degraded in the final year The update here isn't that boot of old. I've had this unit for a year and it's been uncomfortable due to the lace system (centre brace) digging in. Breathability feels reduced and the textile where it meets the leather is already fraying. I'm now living in the UK and. Have only been walking through county lanes and grassland. How is this possible, they look worse than 6 years of wear in Canada. Disappointed

I have been wearing Salamon boots for about 5 years . I bought 2 pair of Quest 4 this spring and have already tossed one pair after the side ripped out, the 2nd pair is no longer waterproof and the rubber is separated at the toe. I walk 5 to 10 miles a day in all weather conditions and need a good boot. I bought the Quest Element last week and have worn them in the house , I hope this pair gets me through the winter .

I've bought Salomon boots for years due to the wide toe box and high ankle support. But when I got these boots, I noticed the laces tended to get stuck in the hooks at the ankle, which can make it hard to get the boots off. I figured they'd loosen up, but it's gotten worse over the year. As of a few days ago, I can't even get the lace out of the hook on one boot, and I'm pretty sure it would just happen again if I managed to force the lace out. Nothing like coming down from a long hike with a lot of elevation gain and sitting in the parking lot desperately trying to pull a boot off. Also, as others have said, the rubber around the boot peels away much faster than on old versions of this boot.

I've had these boots for a bit over 1 year now and the toecap is peeling away! I wrote a review a few months back praising them. They are very comfortable and I love these boots but I'm extremely disappointed in the quality of these hiking boots. I expected much better!

I buy these boots (third pair) because they fit my wide feet and they feel good right out of the box.hence the two star rating. Unfortunately, the quality is poor. On all three pair the soul shows significant wear within one season of normal hiking use, plus the rubber rand around the toe cracks, letting in water. I would love to see this boot built with a more careful eye to quality and longevity.

I wish I had paid more attention to the fit before going out on the trail where I had a miserable time trying to walk in them since they were too long. My all time favorite boot is the Quest 4D GTX - if only it were still available and in new colors like Navy Blue or even Black. Both boots should have a notice posted that they run a half size big.

The Quest 3 fit like gloves. These, not so much. The color choices for the ladies boots are a little childlike. I will never understand why companies insist on using pastels for women's gear.

I LOVE my Quest 4 hiking boots I ordered a year ago so I ordered another pair. However, the new style for 2021 has a totally different fit. The fit is wider and the shoe is longer; I'm a size 5 so I can't go down a size either. Overall, I'm disappointed that they changed this boot because it was already amazing and had awesome reviews. Unfortunately I will be returning this pair and hope for the old version to return.

Comfortable boots and good in dry weather. Good ankle support. However they are not fully water proof and very poor in wet weather, very slippery with very little grip. I kept on slipping coming down Ben Nevis in the wet, I had a fall as a result and sustained bruises on my leg and had several more misses. I could not see anyone slipping like I was on the way gown. Worrying as these are expensive boots I recently bought a few weeks ago. I ve had a pair of Solomon boots ultra mid 2 GTX for neatly 8 years and I have never had any such issues and I ve hiked 300,000 miles with them. Just disappointed and realistically can only use them in dry weather. At this price it is not acceptable!

Purchased recently and used for the first time this week. Hiked 8 miles on Look Out Mountain in preparation for upcoming arduous trip to New Guinea, they were totally inflexible and I had no foot awareness on mountain terrain, hiked second day in sneakers.

I've owned and worn these boots for 2 years. I would first like to say that these boots are extremely light durable and water resistant. Also love how comfortable they are. The issue I've had was that I've slipped wearing them in sunny conditions. When I saw others traverse the same area where I slipped they got through just fine. Now I know what you're thinking maybe I'm clumsy? I've slipped and fell only 5 times in my life 3/5 times was when I was wearing the Quest 4 Gore-tex. Great boots just watch your every step. If it weren't so slippery it would easily be 5/5. Injury is a real possibility, would avoid this one.

Had to return these. They were OK in the shop, but the light grey plastic supports dig into the sides of your feet terribly after a while walking around the house. Unlike leather, these will never soften or mold to the shape of your feet. Gimmicky design.

Just bought a pair. Walking around house they are like walking on concrete. I have a screw in each ankle joint and have been using the quest 4d for 15 years with the support and cushioning that I need for my ankles. Why change a perfect boot design with excellent cushioning and toe box area?

This is my fifth pair of this boot over the past 20 years; I've been buying different iterations of the same pair of Salomon boots since my first Smoky Mountain wilderness expedition in 2002, when I was a teenager. They have taken (literally) years and thousands of miles to wear out, usually with the rubber starting to dry rot before any other components wore out. I bought my last pair in 2018 and hiked the Canadian Rockies twice, the Alaska range, the Smokies, and the northern Great Lakes Region on that pair. In 2022, I finally needed to replace after thousands of miles. This newest version is terrible (not because anything broke, but in general they're just worn out). Not even 15 miles into this new pair, the toe cap is peeling off and the sole is separating from the footbed. The boot feels really poor quality compared to all the others I've owned: less cushy in the footbed, less spring in the rubber sole, less strength in the metal components and lace locks, etc. After so many years making an incredibly durable and fantastic product, why mess with a good thing on this? I thought I may have been experiencing a bad pair, but seeing everyone else's reviews of repeat buyers, it seems I'm not alone in this. Unfortunately, I've switched to Danner and am having a much better experience. I want to come back to Salomon, but for the price point, I need my old wonderful boot back!

Why in the world would you change such a perfect product? This was my SIXTH pair, I am a buyer for a large sporting goods store and have sold 100s of these but they changed it and for the first time ever I got blisters and have delt with countless returns at my shop. What were you all thinking? In search of a new perfect boot. Also the quality is crap now, toe caps peel within days of use. Dont waste your money.

I have owned 5 pairs of the previous models in the past 10 years and Salomon changed the fit and sizing so they don't work anymore. I used to be able to wear the boots out of the box but I had to return these as my regular size was too large and the size smaller was too small. I own multiple pairs of of Salomon trail runners and xc ski boots so disappointed I have to find a new hiking boot as Salomon's have generally been my go to footwear. If they fit you they could be a good product, just sad they changed the boots so they no longer fit me.

So I bought these shoes May 2020. I have had these shoes for 2 yrs and have wore them to two camping/trekking trips (essentially about 4 days total). My first wear i came back with skin peeled at the top of the shoe because it was rubbing against my lower leg. I tried loosening the top but then my ankle support would disappear. I wore longer socks and still it would rub and pinch against my leg that I had to wear bandaids to help with the pain. After my first camping/trekking trip, I gave them another shot thinking I must have broken them in after the first use. I was completely wrong and I had to cut my hiking short because the pain was so bad. My shoes are practically new. I spent so much money because I trusted they would feel confortable but they were unbearable. You'll see that my shoes are still like new because I just couldn't use them after two times in 2 yrs. I purchased them here directly because at the time only the salomon website had the color I wanted in my size. And they did not accept used returns so I was stuck with them. Save yourself the trouble and do not purchase these overpriced hiking shoes.

Having trying on the new version of the Quest 4d, it is apparent that this new style runs at least a half size bigger than the old styles. Extremely disappointing as I love the Quest 4d.

There is a hard piece of material in the top of the boot over the metatarsal area of my right foot. It was digging into my foot. I wore them once and called Zappos to return the defective shoes. Thank you for that flexibility. In general Salomon boots are poorly manufactured in their construction and fit. They’re at least a half size larger than their older styles and are made more cheaply. Very disappointing. I had an older pair of Quest 4D’s that were perfect but I wore them out. Finding a replacement for those older perfect boots has been very difficult.

I loved my old Quest 4D Gtx boots and have used them in Ireland, Uk and the Alps, as do the rest of my family who also love their 4D GTX boots - these boots are like hillwalking /mountaineering in a pair of runners and were a great light weight yet sturdy design. I needed to replace my boots due to wear and tear and bought a pair of Quest 4D boots, I am extremely disappointed with the fit of the Quest 4D boots, I am usually a size 5 in Salomon boots/shoes and the Quest 4D are wider and longer, I do not like the lace tightening system, Salomon appear to be trying to make a lacing system to adjust the width of the boot which does not work for me. The boots do not fit me properly and I can not wear them which is very unusual for me as I have always worn size 5/38 Salomon boots and runners before, I am so sorry I bought the Quest 4D boots online. Salomon - please please make the Quest 4D Gtx boots available again in the same fit as before.
