I think this will be a good addition to my sun hoody collection, but it will have to be utilized in cooler weather. This sun hoody is thicker and heavier than previous The North Face sun hoody versions I have. I don't think I'd be comfortable wearing it in the alpine on a sunny approach because I'd get too hot. The plus side of the thickness is that I think it'll endure sharp granite abrasions way better than my older hoodies.

I had to return the medium for it was too small. Model is 6'2" and wears a medium. I am 6'0" 194 lbs and need a large.

I ordered three of these (XL - 5'10, 225 lbs). The fit nice and is comfortable, but the fabric does feel a bit rough out of the package - not nearly as soft as my other active / dry-fit style hoodies. A couple of washes will soften it up a bit, but still not that silky feel you'd expect from this type of material/hoodie. The thumb holes are a touch, but note that the North Face chest logo is white, not black as pictured. This was a bit of a bummer as the black on black look is much sleeker and was what I was expecting when I placed the order.
- 1 star for the rough material
- 1 star for the white logo
I'd probably buy a couple more of these if they were on sale or if someone at The North Face happens to read this review and wants to give me a discount code for the product description not being completely accurate. All-in-all, if you're looking for this type of hoodie, you probably won't be disappointed - and I'll continue to wear the three I purchased - but I'm left feeling a little "meh" as this wasn't entirely what I was expecting from a company like The North Face.

The first time I've ever been disappointed with Northface was purchasing this hoodie. It ran too small for being a 2XL. Hopefully next time I order I won't have this problem I haven't never had this problem in the past and I trust in north faces quality and reinsurance the next go around will be a better experience

My closet and drawers are filled with size medium shirts, sweaters, tees. I purchased this item in medium and was swimming in it. Loved the color and style, though.

Made for slimmer people. I am 5'6 at 165 and shirt is very tight at my chest and arms/back borderline uncomfortable. Am I buff or just overweight? you be the judge.

If you are looking for a sun shirt that does well as a base layer and is a little thicker than other sunshirts, this could be for you. If you like walking through the brush or climbing, doing anything where this could snag on anything, or want a very lightweight sun hoodie, this is not for you. The material breathes well which is nice when there is a breeze (and you want to feel the breeze), and therefore also holds air as a base layer well. For someone with longer arms, this shirt is great. I am 5'11" that standard my wears 15.5" neck, 34"sleeves, 31" waist. The medium fits me perfect.

I didn't like the material used to make this shirt. I needed something that shielded my skin from the Texas heat. I ended up choosing another brand

The size, color and feel were great. I used it for backpacking in the mountain on Maui to shield from the sun. I only wore it once and washed it and it already has threads coming out so not super quality.

The shirt was a heavier UPF and not the thin type I prefer.

Very heavy. I returned because it's not really appropriate for wearing in sun.

I purchased this a week ago, and was wearing it around the house during the recent snow storms. I haven't even gotten a the chance to wear it outside, and it already has several holes are starting to develop. The fabric just seems to snag on everything, and this was after mostly being a couch potato!

Initially this hoodie seemed to be the perfect lightweight layer. Worn once and it has snags all over it. It's yet to be washed because it is hand-wash only. Would not recommend for anything other than sitting on your couch due to its delicate nature.

Would you wear pantyhose in the forest? You will be if you buy this. I don't know what the heck North Face is thinking with making outdoor clothing with material that snags and runs like a pair of pantyhose! The fit and look was perfect for my husband. One hike on a wide open trail (no bushwacking going on) resulted in three snags that ran. Got one wear out of this before it was ruined due to horrible quality fabric. Do not buy! North Face really?!? The majority of the people that buy this brand intend to use the clothing for outdoor purposes. It should be usable and durable. It should not be ruined after one wear! Definitely not the quality that I expect from North Face and very worried for future purchases.
