I was a bit iffy what size to but since I am an 8 1/2. I went with an 8 and it fits a tad bit big. I did not want to risk it and get a 7 since it may be a bit small. They are so comfortable and go with pretty much anything.

I have plantar fascias in both feet. Wearing these don't hurt me. I have very narrow feet so I have to tie the string a little tighter.
