This was my first Altra running shoe purchase. I ordered my typical shoe size of 9.5 but it was a bit snug/narrow on my toes. I sized up to a 10, which helped eliminate the rubbing on my pinky toe, but they are still a half size too long. I decided to keep the size 10, but I really hope you Altra makes a wide in this shoe since a 9.5 Wide would've been perfect.

It fit my foot, and I loved the wide toe-box. But I'm not crazy about the zero drop or whatever it's called, and it felt like it might rub against the side of my heel after awhile. Returning.

This was the first pair of Altras that I ordered so I went with my normal size 9. Only reason I gave a 3 and 4 star is because they run small and I had to return them. I will need to size up to a 9.5 or 10 when they get back in stock. Overall though I would be interested in another pair that’s the right size. They had a lot of cushion in the sole which is what I look for.

Tried to find alternate to the Altra Torin shoe that’s always out of stock in my size. This one doesn’t have lower heel placement of natural foot standing on the floor like my Altra Torin’s I’ve grown to love. They have your heels lifted up at a higher angle more like traditional running shoes which creates ankle issues for me. Sadly had to return.

I've been wearing these for a few months now and I'm ambivalent about them. They fit my wide forefoot, but seem a bit big on the rest of my foot, which is narrower. I've had other Altras before and these seem, for lack of a better word, mushy. I guess I need to find something with a more minimal sole. Another annoying thing about them is that the tongue will not stay in place, ever. It slides constantly to the outside, even with the lace through the tab on the tongue. So yeah, they fit, they're comfortable enough, they don't hurt my feet when I work out but I wouldn't buy them again.

I love Altra shoes for the feature of both the zero drop heal toe differential and the wide toe box that allows my toes to grab the ground as I walk. However, I bought these specific shoes hoping to solve a major issue I am experiencing after ankle reconstruction surgery. My foot ( am an amputee) supinates (roles to the outside) and 99% of shoes seem to be designed to push people's feet outward to correct for pronation. So, I was thrilled to see that Alrta created shoes with the guiderail system, and the photos on Zappos made it look like the guiderail was on the lateral side of the shoe. However, once again one more shoe catering specifically to those who pronate was what I ended up with. Even the back heal has a wedge on the outside edge that also exacerbates the problem of having an roll to the outside edge. Thankfully, I did end up finding that Altra Olympus's did solve my issue, with the added bonus of getting to keep the features I love about Altra shoes: roomy toe box and zero drop.

I always purchase Altra's at a size of 8.5 women's. This is 1/2 size larger than any other brand I buy and that is standard for Altra. This pair is no different. They fit (length-wise) the same as my Paradigm, Olympus, Timp and Lone Peak shoes. 8.5. Note: I wear inserts will all of them except the Paradigm.
I have multiple pairs of Paradigms because that supportive style works well for me. I wanted to try out the redesign of the Provision because I wanted the support but a little but less cushion. The Provisions are great.
Responsive, light, nice cushion.
The heel is also nice and snug
Unfortunately, the forefoot, particularly at the junction between the phalanges and metatarsals, is too narrow. So, you still have decent space in the front of the toe-box but then the shoe narrows down and your foot spills over the outsole. Not comfortable and not supportive. A larger size addresses this issue but results in a sloppy fit everywhere else.

While I only wore these around the house overall I wanted to keep them as they seemed like a well-fitting comfortable running shoe. I've been running in Altras for over a decade and love their fit for my wide feet. I do, however, prefer to run without socks and these shoes have the most uncomfortable tongue, it does not stay in place as there is no way to loop the laces through it and the side of the tongue has raised stitching that digs into the tops of my feet as it slides around. Had to return.

I thought that the heel and arch of the Provision 5 felt sloppy and the forefoot much too narrow. The shoestrings were too short. For a stability shoe, I did not find them comfortable. I usually find Altra shoes generally comfortable even if the fit is not quite right, but I cannot say that about the Provision 5.

I am begging Altra to bring back their original wide toe box. There shoes are amazing except that they no longer have a wide toe box and my toes get squished.

Unfortunately, I'm not as happy with the Provision 5 as I was with the 4. The innovarach bands are skimpier. Also, I can feel the bar that runs the length of the sole in the right shoe.

The shoe fits fine, but is disappointing. I bought an earlier version of this shoe in 2019. This version is made crudely, with some differences that do not improve it. The lace cage and tongue do not fit nicely together. There are raw edges at the end of seams. And oddly, the laces are not long enough to lace fully! Additionally the laces are not high quality. The shoe is well cushioned. I do agree that ordering 1/2 size up is best for this shoe. But this shoe is quality challenged. And it is disappointing.

I was disappointed because the design of Altra has been revised apparently. The seam in the left arch cuts into my foot. The signature wide toe box with appropriate leveling of the support for wearers who pronate seems to be gone.

I have never been so let down. I have two other pairs of Altras- Escalante Racers and Lone Peaks. They bother fit better than any shoes I have ever bought, and right out of the box. Wide enough, amazing toe box, not tightly. These Provisions are nowhere near the same fit, and I bought the same size. The Provisions are narrow and tight, the toe box is not as wide, and the shoelaces are a joke. Seriously uncomfortable, and don't even get me started on that little piece of stretchy whatever made to hug your foot on the inside. I was so disappointed. Sending these back immediately.

These shoes I wore all of one day and couldn't walk on my right foot ever again in these shoes. I limped around for a week or more. The left foot felt okay no problems.I think maybe they need a nice insert to keep my foot off the left side of my right foot. I dont know what to do to be able to wear these shoes. Help.

Immediately after receiving my shoes, I looked them over and was upset to see the bottoms had dirty treads. I was sent used shoes someone had worn outside! I expect Zappos not to allow used/returned shoes to be sold as new without a disclaimer. This really disappointed me and I will return them.

I am disappointed in these shoes. I had to wear them for a bit to really realize how badly they hurt my feet. I have a lot of foot issues, and now I know these are too narrow and too short. I wonder if they would have been better in a bigger size.
