The Provision 5 is the perfect balance between the support and stability pre-4s and the arch structure of the 4. I'd forgotten how much I missed this shoe.

Let's start with the good. Love, love the toe box. For a running shoe it feels great and the cushion feels awesome. Now the bad. For some reason, just after running in the shoe for the first time, the guard rail is losing color. I've had this happen for some other shoes but I'd still recommend it.

Ok gave review on day 2. No too positive however these shoes are light and supportive. Wore them everywhere on vacation across the country and back and my feet felt great. So don't trust first impressions as these are a favorite. Going to buy another pair before there gone

I love the innovarch feature! With Escalantes I needed an insert for additional support. These are slightly more difficult to lace, but very satisfying because I can feel--and adjust--the support as I put them on. I'm not sure why but the wear pattern on my Provisions is entirely even, with no notable wear spots as in all other running shoes I have used over the years.

I've been running for 45 years. All that time I've had over-pronation issues with my right foot. I've tried so many versions from most of the other companies. I gave up, switching to Altra perhaps eight years ago. I loved the feel and fit, and my feet were finally happy. The over-pronation was still there but the shoes were better than any others I had worn. Then I discovered Provision 4. I had the comfort I love from Altra and just the right control for my pronation. I now am on the Provision 5 and it is great. Wonderful shoes.

I've been wearing Altras for years. Not all have fit perfectly, but this one has. Stack height is a little higher than I'm used to but I'll adapt. The toe box is better than anything out there. I tried this model because of recent ankle surgery (wanted the guide rail and more cushion) and I'm really pleased.

The way Altra makes their shoes in the shape of your feet is the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn. I haven't bought any other shoe since. I highly recommend trying one of their products, you will never buy any where else.

Size 15D. Much more toe room than other running shoes (Brooks, Hoka, etc.). Very happy with these shoes. They look good too.

Absolutely love this shoe! Fits great. Offers the extra support that I need. True to size. Nice toe box. InnovArch secure fit which creates the fit around the food is a nice new feature. Keep it up Altra! Please drop more colors.

Provision 5 is the best shoe I have ever worn from a comfort prospective. I'm a podiatrist and have been solicited by many shoe companies and altra has made my feet happier than any other company.

Great balance of some support and a light, responsive feel.

I had an injury that resulted in knee surgery back in 2010 and running has been a challenge since. Bottom line, running woth these shoes feels like running pre-surgery. So thankful.

I normally wear a women's wide shoe and often the women's size wide isn't wide enough for me. These altra's have been a god sent. I tried on over 50 pairs of shoes trying to find a shoe that would help my food condition. I have HR and need special insoles and a wide toe box. This was the first pair of shoes in almost 50 pairs I had tried on that actually worked for me.

I live in Provisions. New ones in the house full time, last pair out in the yard or walking. They have not changed the basic structural qualities of excellent stability (for my pronation) plus light weight and comfort. (You know how frustrating it is when a brand changes the shoe you love to one you can't wear; Altra doesn't do that). The toe box is roomy, sizing accurate, durability very good. Writing this makes me plan on getting another new pair to pickle in the closet. Full disclosure: I can't run anymore; a nerve block behind my knee permanently damaged all the nerves below it, causing my arch to collapse, requiring a brace and ending my running and squash. Provisions support my foot better than any other shoe I've tried, although on occasion I'll wear a pair of very cushioned shoes if I'm hiking on gravel trails. Otherwise, it's Altra all day long!

My initial opinion is that the Provision 5 has restored some of the value I loved about the Provision 3.5. I don't run anymore due to a slight disc problem, however I do walk a lot. I also probate to some extent, and my feet love the way the shoe keeps them from pronating in to the big toe. Also, I have plantar fasciitis, and the outside heel relief is huge for me. I'm not completely sold on the inside two straps that can be tightened to help support the instep, but will give my opinion later as I wear the shoes.
