I've only owned this jacket for fifteen minutes, but it's already kept me dry when the elements turned on me.
My daughter had macaroni and cheese and some grape tomatoes shortly before I picked this jacket up, and had I been wearing a lesser jacket without the DWR finish, I would be reeking of barf right now, instead of drinking this beer.
Thank you.

I love this jacket, it's my third one. Arcteryx, PLEASE make it in the INK COLOUR you have on the beta Sv jacket. Good for fall and spring and high activity in the winter. This is a must for any arcteryx fan. I LOVE the fit, slim with no extra, makes you looks like a European model while doing your outdoor activities lol

I came across the Atom SL Hoody while looking for a windshirt lines with microfleece type jacket for cutting wind, providing a touch of warmth, and packing down small for climbing. I guess no one makes those any more but this jacket is much better.
The jacket stretches and breathes well due to the side panels, while still providing a touch of warmth and protection from the wind. The cut is trim so it doesnt get in the way while climbing in it. Both the exterior and interior are mostly nylon so the fabric is slick enough to put it on over a poly shirt or put a poly shirt over the coat without an epic struggle. At first I was bummed that the hood is not lined, but with use I found that in the temperatures where I had it on with the hood up a lined hood would have made it too hot.
I had to have shoulder scummed for at least a couple of pitches in it and expected there to be holes, but there were none.
I love the coat. It's just right for taking the edge off a cool breeze and climbing in without overheating. It is soft and comfortable. My only gripe is that it does not pack down a little smaller in it's own pocket and there is not a loop in the pocket for clipping it to a harness. Nevertheless, it's a great piece and Ill probably buy another so I have one in case they quit making it.

It is a piece that does it all, provides warmth and is windproof with water repellent material. It's light, compact and stylish. Super comfortable with stretching material. Perfect for mountain use/climbing as well as a city wear!

I can't believe I'm saying this but for the location I live in and how I my body reacts to even the lowest levels of exercise (I tend to run warm) I would pick my atom SL over my atom LT. Don't get me wrong I would never get rid of or stop wearing my LT but I usually only need my SL. This is the perfect jacket for me. Currently I weigh 158 and I'm 5'7". Wear a size S and fits perfectly. Close to body but tight, I have a 30" waist and the mid section is spot on, other brands seem to make even their trim fit too baggy in the mid section. Sleeve length is right on for me. I have longer arms for my height and all my Arc'teryx gear address that. No exposed wrists but not sloppy length where it bunches up over and over etc..

This is an amazing jacket that surprisingly delivers on many functional levels. I have used it from crag climbing to 6200m in the Himalayas and it rocks. It's weight to warmth ratio is outstanding and, with the wind resistant fabric, it provides a great outer layer when on multi pitch routes when the weather picks up. I have climbed in just a t-shirt and the jacket in windy, cool conditions with light precip and it's kept me toasty warm. In heavy precip it fits well underneath a goretex outer layer. The fabric is surprisingly abrasion resistant given how light and thin it is.
At higher altitudes it functions as a great layering piece giving an added layer of warmth with less weight and the breathability allows you to shed excess heat. I take this jacket absolutely everywhere I adventure outdoors and wouldn't leave home without it. Arcteryx you nailed it!

I use my gamma LT on the daily, as I commute to work, or during hikes, when skiing in the backcountry. 100% would buy again.
could use a ski pass pocket and under-arm vents tho!

My favourite jacket/mid-layer right now! Super lightweight, and surprisingly warm for it's weight. Great for high output activities in colder conditions

I LOVE this thing. I wear it everywhere, most recently to a summit in Kananaskis, in rather warm for winter temps, but still chilly at the summit, and VERY windy. I had a thin base layer and fleece and was perfectly comfortable, even with about a -20 deg windchill at the top.

I was weary about purchasing this jacket last year as some of the reviews were mixed at the time.
I run very hot and was trying to think of any reason to purchase this jacket for the summer. I am glad I did.
It is such a great fit and I wore it Spring, Summer, and Fall. it exceeded my expectations with how much use I got out of this jacket. Perfect for slightly chillier nights, and keeps you warm and somewhat dry in the spring/fall.
If you had any reservations about this jacket, drop them. It really is a welcome addition to my Atom family

I bought this jacket for a hiking/climbing trip on Mount Katahdin, this fall. The temperatures started out unseasonably warm but then dropped quickly. I was super impressed with the range of temperatures in which this jacket was able to keep me comfortable. The small amount of Core Loft provides just the perfect amount of insulation to keep the chill off on chilly fall mornings, but the need to remove this jacket when things warm up or you are pushing hard is minimal. I was able to put this jacket on and keep it on...all day.
The fit of this jacket is awesome! While hiking and scrambling, I completely forgot I was wearing it. I can't think of a higher compliment to pay a jacket. It quietly does its job of keeping you comfortable and never reminds you it's there. Breathability is great, wind resistance too. The zipper stays put and the hood is barely noticeable, even after you put it on. The articulation of the arms is perfect. It has minimal ride-up when reaching high overhead. While it won't keep you dry in a steady rain, the DWR is fantastic! Water continues to bead right off after a few washes.
The fit is absolutely true to size. I wear a large in the Atom AR and LT. The SL is no different. I am 6'-2" tall and weigh 186 LBS.
I questioned the need to own this jacket, but now would not do a spring/summer/fall trip without it!

This is a great piece for days that start chilly and warm up or days when you want just a little extra sun protection without sacrificing breathability or comfort. I have worn it from the crag to the summit and never regretted bringing it along! A great lightweight piece, especially here in the PNW where you never quite know what the weather will bring!

Love this jacket. Live in Vancouver where it rains a ton but isn't too cold. This is perfect for city living and even works on top of a fleece for a ski shell. Not waterproof, so not designed for downpours, but light rain and snow is no issue. Breathes very well.

I've tested the gamma lt in a variety of weather climates, from 20 F to 65 F, with a different layering options. I chose the cypress green color, which is subdued and very functional for athletic and city life.
Underneath, the small gamma lt fits beautifully with an atom sl hoody, atom lt hoody, and the cerium lt hoody. All are sized small, but the cerium is by far the snuggest fit (but still very functional).
The true strength of this jacket is its breathability, but windproof qualities. I can layer this jacket over a midlayer and exert a lot of energy during long hiking ascents or scrambling, yet remain very warm on exposed, windy peaks.
The fabric is bombproof, yet stretchable. Scraping against rocks, ice, and trees doesn't worry me. The waist cord adjustments means that your less durable layers underneath can always be protected. The jacket also layers wonderfully underneath my Beta SV when things get really severe.
Some tidbits that I'm less enthusiastic about.
While the hood is amazing, and the back head adjustment is quite simple and easy, the neck drawcords are lacking in their ease and adjustment. Its very hard to get a good fit with this adjustment unless you take your jacket off and consider the length of each drawcord.
I've washed this jacket once and found that the no-slip zipper had come completely undone. I've noticed that with some movement during exercise that this can also occur. Again, not a huge problem, but sometimes it is unexpected.
All in all, this jacket is perfect for a variety of conditions and energy outputs. I'm sure that for snowshoeing and backcountry skiing that is will also perform admirably.

Current favourite Autumn jacket.
Surprisingly warm.
Good wind resistance and light insulation.
I have gone up a size to XL for alternative layering options (L usually is fitted on me).
Happy purchase for sure (I'm 185cm tall and weigh around 100Kg, active/father-figure)

Of all my Arc'teryx jacket, this one gets the most use. It's super lightweight, so I always stuff it in the bottom of my pack on the hottest or coldest of days. It's a great quick layer when the wind kicks up and also great as a midlayer. The warmth to weight ratio is very impressive. If I put a thin wool layer underneath, I'm good hiking in 40 degree weather. I regularly throw it in my handbag when commuting around the city as an emergency layer. I've owned my jacket nearly 2 years and washed it a dozen times and it still looks great!

Bought this jacket last year and it has served me well! A lightweight, versatile jacket that I use almost everyday- it goes from the trail , to work, to the streets. It is good in light rain, and is very breathable- and the stretch is a bonus. Most of the time I can wear just a t-shirt underneath and it keeps me quite warm .The fit is also very flattering if you have a larger body type. I would definitely recommend this jacket for its versatility and overall excellent quality!

A great do-it-all layer, I use it as a light sheel when i commute or as a midle layer under my shell jacket under harsher conditions. I love the feel of it, it feels absolutley wheightless.
When I bought it I wasent sure how much use I would have for it, now I use it almost everyday for everything, very versetaile.
If I would change one thing, I would ad muds to the sleves to not let in air and be more adapteble to different arm lenghts (which I have with my sewing machine).

Great jacket! Wear it hiking, climbing, around town, and even inside if it's a little chilly. It's one of the only few jackets I've never over heated in!!

I bought this after a friend raved about it, and was skeptical that this jacket could provide significant warmth, given its weight. I was wrong. It provides great insulation even through chilly foggy evenings and layers effortlessly under heavier layers. I love the flexibility of the fit - I feel total freedom of movement.

I love this layer. The versatility is amazing. I wore it on a hike in sleet and it held up like a champ. It's not water proof, but the water resistance is very good. I was only wearing this and a wool base layer and I was fine. I also have the Atom LT, but I reach for the SL way more than anything else. I wear it around town under a zip hoodie, and with the addition of a warm scarf, I can make it through 90% of The Colorado winter! For the rest of the winter it's this and the Gamma MX hoodie... and only rarely will I need the LT. I don't regret a single penny I spent on this!

So I got this "jacket" (more of a high tech shirt) about a month ago and I enjoy it. I love my Atom Lt and wanted something I wouldn't overheat in when the sun comes outand its just about 10C. Definitely don't expect the same versatility from this hoddy as the Lt but if you're active with temps below 10C or at rests it's pretty good. This piece isn't something that everyone needs but its a quick sweater I throw on all the time even when I don't need a jacket.
I've seen a review that says the sleeves are too long and I agree that they feel long but at full extension they're perfect (just an odd shape so they rub on the back of your hand) (ape index of ~1.1). The cuffs aren't the same heat sealing cuffs as the Lt but this seems better suited as a windbreaker with the looser fit. This also lends well to layering the SL over the Lt (jacket) to add a few degrees of comfort. The fit of the Sl is not as roomy as the Lt but definitely not tight.
A few things I would tweak about the design is to add an inner chest pocket and have hand warmer pockets. If you're familiar with the Lt then you'll know that Arc'teryx has ingeniously placed the pockets underneath the coreloft layer plus a fleece lining so you can actually warm up. With the Sl the pocket has no insulation protecting your hands from the elements (just 20d nylon). This also presents a problem if you do use the Sl as an outer layer in cold conditions (maybe it would be possible to put a slit in the inner nylon so you could get to your Lt pockets underneath but that wouldn't happen). By placing the pockets underneath the coreloft you wouldn't need the fleece lining so the weight and materials would be the same.
So put the coreloft on the outside like the Lt please!
