I purchased the gaviota 3 about 2 months ago. I originally thought they were a great shoe. However, after wearing it several times, I found I was getting a pain on the lateral sides of both shoes. I discovered that I underpronate and that is probably the reason for the pain according to a Hoka customer representative. I also own the Bondi 7 and the clifton 7 which feel great.

From beginning to the end, all I can say is what a disappointment and mistake this purchase was. First, these shoes fit a half size too small; which happens from manufacturer to manufacturer, however, after about a month's wear on the shoes with the correct size, the tread started coming off and presented a tripping hazard, which is what these shoes are. Two months after getting the replacement, the same issue happened again. Customer service won't give the money back for defective expensive pair of shoes, but they will give me a coupon for $30 towards the purchase of a new shoe; I just got a $30 coupon emailed to me from Zappos the other day...so thanks for nothing. Suckers Beware and caveat emptor. This product is unsafe and the seller doesn't stand by the product. You are warned. And so you know, I have ordered many pairs of shoes from Zappos before and, aside from a size issue which was resolved without incident, I have never ever had anything but praise for my purchases, but in this case buyers beware.

I walk 6 miles a day at a brisk pace. Have had multiple pairs of Bondi 6's. Loved them all!! Had a pair of Bondi 7's and it wore poorly on the inside of the heals within a month. Was told I needed a show with more stability and was sold the Gaviota 3. After 6 weeks, the bottoms of my feet still burn like crazy at the about the 2-2.5 mile mark. Started doing two 3 mile walks each day to compensate. Even took a week off to let my feet rest. Have tried multiple kinds of socks to help to no avail. Like the stability, but these shoes will not break in. Bought the 7's from a small local retailer who told me if he has to replace shoes from Hoka, he has to eat the price......feel guilty about taking the 3's back. So will probably throw out an expensive pair of shoes since they are just not comfortable.....would like Hoka to stand behind their product without hurting the small retailer.

The product has really gotten cheap compared to my other Hoka's Not nearly as much. Cushion as before they have cheapened the shoes

It seems i could not find the right pair. I returned 3 different pairs. The Gaviotas and Bondi 7 were too narrow and really hurt my feet even after several days. I did get one pair of Bondi 7's that was wide. It was better. Maybe in hindsight, I should have given those more time. I was really looking forward to Hoka shoes.

I bought these shoes seven months after foot surgery. They caused more pain than my regular Traing shoes.

The shoes seem tighter than the other size 11's I've ordered. Maybe just new but the others weren't this tight

Ordered a 10.5 Wide. Shoes were too narrow and toe box was overall (width and height) too small. I have several pairs of shoes from other manuafacturers in 10.5 wide that fit just fine.

I am so disappointed that the Gaviota 3 are so different than the Gaviota and Gaviota 2. These are the only shoes I can wear and now I can't wear the Gaviota 3. Too narrow, even though I have a narrow foot. With hallux rigidous it is always a hassle finding shoes so I will wear my Gaviota 2 until they fall apart or I find another shoe.

The buildup I saw before buying these shoes led me to a big let down. They're ok at best. For the price, I would have thought these would be way more comfortable.

This is my 2nd pair of the Gaviotta, my 1st was the Gaviotta 1, and neither fit my foot at all. I've returned them. I just recently bought my 3rd pair of the Speedgoat and I love em. I exchanged my Gav 3 for the Anacspa low GTX and so far they feel fantastic.

I wear these shoes at work where I walk about 12 miles per day. Good shoes are essential to me. I like the support I felt with these shoes but the heel strike is ROUGH. As your foot rolls through the step. There is a very perceptible, and actually an audible clunk as you roll off the heel and onto the sole of the foot, not smooth at all. This created a very uncomfortable step and actually new knee pain after a day of walking. Sorry Hoka, this one is a hard pass from me.

This is my 2nd pair as Zappos was kind enough to replace them. After exactly 2 months the sole had shredded in parts of the shoes (left front near the pinkie toe area). I have the Gaviota 2, about a year and a half old that still look better on the soles than these did (appears to be different design). I really hope it was a defective pair but I'm leery about the replacement pair being any different. For $170 I expect A LOT more. If these do the same I will probably switch back to Brooks Beast. Time will tell. And I am not a large person (150 lbs) and wear these exclusively for when I do my daily walks 4-8 miles daily) on asphalt or concrete surfaces. That's it, no hard running, etc. With that being said, they are comfortable and supportive and fit my custom orthotics with no issues.

I ordered size 14 2E wide. I have three pairs of Hokas that are 14. 2E wide. These shoes are not wide - they are regular width. I can't wear them. Box says 2E and tag in the shoe says 2E but they are not 2E.
