I'm a middle-aged former paratrooper who is an orthopedic physician assistant. I had all but given up on running until a fellow arthritic retired Soldier showed up for his knee injection appointment sporting a pair of Hokas. I gave 'em whirl and am happily, albeit slowly back on the road and treadmill. I recommend them several times per week and even got my wife hooked on Hokas. Great product y'all!

I have been wearing the Challenger ATRs since version 3. They were true to size, very comfortable, light and great for trail or road runs. Now however, version 6 is completely different. The shoe is longer than the actual size and more narrow. The narrowness is quite a problem. So much so, that it has caused a bruise on the top of my foot. The weight of the shoe has also increased. The shoe still has great cushion but that's about it. So unless HOKA changes the style back to something closer to version 5, I won't be buying the Challenger ATR series again.

Ordered Women's 9.5 Out of the box, shoe and running. Absolutely no break in required. Please do not change a thing. Have spent the entire spring and summer looking for a shoe that does not hurt to wear. Thank you so very much for offering a quality product!

Bought these for everyday indoor use and for working out. So far they are great. They fit different from my other hokas but are just as comfortable. The fit is great for workingout.

The Challenger is great when your state park road run turns into a trek through the woods or a horse pasture. On the trail days I don't need a rock plate, they're light and yet springy. I tend to have to size down a half size from other brands. I go with the EU sizing instead of US for this reason.

I wear a 9, bought a 9 wide because I have a wider toe box and narrower heel, they fit perfectly. The tread is “sticky” and a little noisy on hard surfaces. I climbed 600 feet, pretty much 15-34 degree angles, rocks and sand, in California and felt like a frog with suction cups. I never slipped. If you’re looking for a serious shoe that you can trust, yes, these are it. I can’t speak to longevity. So far, so so so good.

This is my first pair of Hoka's and they came highly recommended. I am not a runner, but I hike, and I wanted the shoes primarily for walking for fitness and hiking once Spring arrives. So far they have been wonderful - no break-in time, the fit is good and they are super light. I can only compare these shoes to my Brooks Caldera 4's - they run about a half size larger than the Brooks and are a little lighter. Since I bought them primarily for hiking, the half size isn't a big deal because I will most likely wear them with my thick Smart Wool socks. The are very stylish, love the color!

These shoes are just perfect for my high-arched wide feet! I will never wear anything else for walking as long as the design does not change.

Bottom of my shoe started falling off within 5 minutes of wearing. Customer service was not helpful at all. They referred me to the warranty department. No initial offer to replace.

I love these sneakers but they do run really large. I originally bought the Women's 8.5, but they were so big that they slid around on my feet when I was trying to hike. On further inspection, it turned out that the 8.5 is actually a 40.75 in Euro sizes. I'm usually a 39, which frequently translates to 8.5 Women's. I then bought a size 8 and it fits perfectly! The Euro size is 40 (which most people would consider an 8.5 or 9). Hope this info helps when trying to figure out sizing.

I heard amazing things about Hoka and wanted a shoe that would work on paved and unpaved trails and this shoe does the trick! It took my body a few runs to get used to the added cushion and support, but they're fantastic!

Love the brand, but very unhappy with the insoles they provided. No cushion, paper thin. I run about 3 miles a day and I am 54. I need some joint relief in support/cushion. I am keeping the shoes as I have replaced insoles with inserts.

I love all Hokas they're all I wear. That being said I had the older version of these and loved them but these new models are a lot tighter, I already wear wides and I almost returned. After wearing a few days they loosened enough to keep.

I normally wear a 9m in all shoes brands. This was no exception. I didn't know what to expect from these as I've never owned a pair of Hoka's before. They felt perfect straight out of the box when I put them on and laced them up. However I wasn't expecting to be launched into a fast walk the moment I started moving in them. :) They feel like I'm walking on spring loaded air pillows. A little strange at first, but a very welcome feeling when I hit the treadmill. No more shins screaming at the 1.5m mark, now it's my calves working OT. I'll take that over shin pain/splints any day. I do notice that my arches have a twinge of pain here & there, but I can only guess that it's because these shoes have more arch support than what my feet are accustomed to. I'm hoping my feet adjust to this over time. I've only had them a little over a week but I'm totally in love with them. I just wish there were more color combinations available.
Note: I did notice that the Nike's I had been wearing on the treadmill feel like there is no cushioning in them compared to the Hoka Challenger ATR 6.

I have tried many brands of running shoes and these are the best. I pronate and have wide toes and narrow heels, plus a high arch. Typically, shoes that are long enough are too wide in the heel, and those that fit my heels are too tight in the toes. These are perfect, and have good traction. They are 4 stars instead of 5 because I'd prefer a quieter color.

These replaced my old Hoka's which I LOVED. These feel quite a bit tighter and are just barely big enough even though I ordered the same size. The sizing is off enough that I was unsure about keeping them. However, the arch support is excellent.

I am an avid Speedgoat fan but wanted to try something different for trail running! Challengers fit and feel awesome BUT they are not as grippy in wet conditions. I will definitely keep them for dry conditions but I won't take them on a big backpacking trip!

Fit beautifully, no break in time, large/roomy toe box, and I love the dark gray upper/bright melon colored sole combo. I have worn Vionics for the arch support and these are not as intense of an arch support but still good.
