I shopped in person for this shoe but ordered from Zappos for the affordable price. Great support- I sized up a half size as my toes pushed on the end of the shoe (usually 9 wide). I purchased a Women’s 9-1/2 wide. My foot is wide across the toe area and average at ankle/heel. I use my own custom orthotics. I have ankle pain and early arthritis- these are supportive around ankle & arch while roomy and soft around toes. I was surprised by the height difference from heel to toe with a noticeable drop at the front compared to my old Saucony pair. I have become used to it over several weeks and don’t notice anymore. These have worked out well and I may invest in a second pair.

Very comfy for me, as I do have a narrow foot. They are not clunky looking which I appreciate!

Diagnosed a couple of months ago with plantar faciitis; in physical therapy now; bought very expensive shoes which I hated and returned. Have been wearing Asics for years and they are definitely my go to shoe!

This is my 6th pair of Contenders. I use them for running only because of their support, the malleable fabric, the added reinforced support at the toe box, and of course, the deep comfort my feet feel when I’m running: It feels like I’m running on pillows. For the amount of running I do, Contenders last a long time. They retain support in the heel and toe box for hundreds of miles. Asics became my go-to running shoe 12 years ago, and the Contenders especially.

This is the second pair of these that I bought. Mainly used for paved walking with some light trail hikes, these lasted about one year with approximately 250-300 miles. Toe box is roomy and the cushion was just right for me. If you are looking for hardcore running shoes that will last 400+ miles, these are not the ones. If you are looking for a daily shoe for walking/jogging, this checks all the boxes at a reasonable price!

Usually an 8.5 wide, but I ordered the 9 wide and it was perfect! Feels like I’m walking on a cloud with the support in the heel!

Inexpensive ASICS shoes have been my favorite walking shoes for years. These don’t disappoint! I’ve tried other brands that are two or three times the price & never been as happy as when I stick to ASICS!!

Love this shoe but, even following other commenters' suggestion to order 1/2 size larger than usual, I had to try FIVE pairs to get it right. Ended up needing a full size larger + wider than my other athletic shoes. Oddly, the pair designated WIDE are also LONGER than shoes of the same size but medium width. I haven't run in them yet, but judging from their attractive profile and my comfort in that last pair, I have high hopes that this shoe's performance will more than make up for the sizing issues.

I love ASICS shoes and am so so happy I can get them at such a great price. They are the shoe that's perfect for my feet and getting the wide width is so awesome. The delivery was so timely too. I've ordered from Zappos before and like that I can trust the company. I have happy summer feet!!!

Loved the fit, very comfortable, had this pair for 2 years with extensive wear and still in solid shape

I love the shoes. They are snug and tend to be on the warm side in spite of being breathable. Asic fits my narrow heel/wide ball of the foot well and has for years plus I can trust they will last.

I'm not a runner, but I love these shoes for nearly daily 3-mile walks. Bought them to replace my old Sauconys and am not disappointed. While I wanted the purple, the black/white looks better on than just looking at the shoe itself.

My 11 year old daughter wears a size 7. She has a narrow foot but these fit great!

Usually I cannot buy anything online. Shoes and sneakers from Zappos are always a good fit, quickly delivered and a reasonable price. Thank you so much!
