I have 12 pairs of Brooks Chaser shorts 5? in the old style. I went to reorder these for myself and my daughter only to discover that they have been redesigned. I am not a fan of the new design. I returned them and bought a different brand.

Great in every way EXCEPT for the sewn-in underwear. They call it a liner, but it?s really just grandma panties with tight elastic leg bands that give you visible panty lines. And you can?t cut it out because the ventilation holes will leave you uncovered in places if you do. So close to a perfect short! Brooks- please use lazer cutting techniques or build a short without underwear!

As mentioned in other reviews - these are larger than last year's model so you might want to go one size down. As a person with thicker thighs I was unable to find a size that fits. Last year the medium fit me perfectly, this year the Medium is too loose and baggy while the small was too tight in the thigh area. Too bad as I love last year's model. The addition of pockets is nice, but doesn't help if I can't find the right fit.

Really wanted to like these as they look great and I've had good luck with Brooks tops and love their shoes. However if you've got hips at all these are too tight. I'm 5'9", 175 lbs and wear a size 10-12 in pants; I ordered the large but they fit really awkward and would be uncomfortable to run in.

Love the length and the fabric. Waist fits tts but the shorts are oddly tight across the butt/hips. 5'11", 135 lbs (slim/athletic but with hips) and I ordered a small. I'll be returning.

These used to be my favorite shorts, but it seems that the fit and fabric was updated from last year. These fit a little bit smaller in the waist, but MUCH narrower through the hip and thigh. The new fit is uncomfortable and unfortunately a size up would be too big in the waist. This is super disappointing as finding a comfortable short with a longer inseam is difficult. I?ll be returning the pairs I ordered and searching for my new go-to shorts.

Was super excited about these for their longer length. Ordered medium at first which were way too snug. Returned and ordered large which I was disappointed to find the waist was made much larger and too big and the pant legs were not. Don?t cinch down well and look weird cinched at the waist and the legs are tight and unflattering.

I wanted to love these shorts, but had to return them. I am very much between sizes and have hips/large thighs. I purchased an XL based on the measurements on the website. I LOVED the feel of the legs-I had room to breathe, there was minimal thigh gobbling, but the waistband was problematic. I had to cinch it all the way in and then it created a weird gap. I sent them back for a size large and I lost the flowy leg holes, and after taking several steps, not only did the shorts ride up the inside of my thighs, but also the outside creating a booty short of sorts. Sadly, that pair was returned as well.

Very disappointed! I have two pairs of brooks chasers 5? and ordered a third pair in a different color but same exact size. That pair is significantly smaller and tighter. It wore like a size smaller than it was. It could be a fluke in that pair but I don?t want to risk it again when they are so pricey and it?s a pain to keep ordering (can?t find them locally to try on). I hope they haven?t changed how they make these!

Cute, but my thighs ATE them. I?m 160, 5?8? and very athletic build, they are cute and a great fabric but definitely not for me in terms of bunching and chafing. Returning because I don?t see myself in a situation where I would wear these and be ok with them riding up so much.

These rode up on me. I really wanted to like these very light weight shorts, but they just didn't work for me. Other than that, if they stay put for you, they are a great summer short for running, with a pocket for essentials.

I bought these because someone on Instagram highly recommended them as running shorts that won't ride up if you have bigger thighs. She does a lot of videos testing shorts for this and isn't sponsored, so I trusted her even though I don't usually go to social media for purchasing decisions. Unfortunately, I guess it's a YMMV situation, because these shorts rode up terribly from the minute I put them on. They are basically unwearable for me. Someday, someone will solve the problem of shorts riding up if your legs touch - but not with these shorts. Threw them two stars because the colors are lovely, and the fabric is nice. I'd wear them in a heartbeat if I didn't have the ride-up issue! But since I do have the ride-up issue...they're off to Goodwill. If you're buying these for the thigh issue, they may be worth a shot - maybe different shaped legs have different degrees of luck - just don't take the tags off too quickly like I did!

Very disappointed in these shorts. These are not the same as the ones from a few years ago. The material feels very thin and they ride up. After only two wears the seam coming down the middle from the waste band is already starting to split!

As someone who can only wear tight shorts because loose ones ride up and my legs chafe, I really wanted to love these and gave them a chance because of other reviews. Unfortunately, there's nothing that keeps the fabric from riding up and I was having issues within the first minute. Such a bummer because I loved the color! They also ran a bit large.

These are too big and loose. I wear them because I took the tags off but I hate them.

I was not a fan of these and ended up returning them. I love the 3? Chaser shorts, but the 5? had a baggy, unflattering fit. The envelope style phone pocket is harder to access than the zipper version on the 3? shorts, and it?s confusing that the ventilation flaps at the back also feel like envelope pockets.

Not sure what happened with the style, I own the previous generation in a size M and I love everything about them. This current style is much much larger, falling off my hips and just looks frumpy. Unfortunately not happy with this Brooks purchase, at least I bought it on sale.

Comfortable and nice material but rides up in the inner thighs. The 7 inch don?t do that for me

I was a big fan of the last generation of Chaser shorts, but not these ones. Waist is too high, the drawstring is weird (and seems to have already stretched out), and the seam on the inner thigh chafed me like crazy.

Same experience for me! Ordered the 5" Chaser LAST year (2020) directly from Brooks in a Medium and they fit lovely. Order 2 more pairs this year and they are HUGE! I thought I could deal but I was swimming in them and just not happy, so I returned them (exchanges not allowed?!?). Smalls are on the way and I will update on sizing when I get them. I am 5'8" and about 135 lbs with wider hips, so typically mediums are reasonable. I loved the colors and additional pockets, so I think I will be pleased but BEWARE because they run LARGE! They seem to have a longer rise as well... not sure why people screw with a good thing, but we runners are used to getting our favorite shoes "tweaked" with all the time. We should really protest these constant changes...

Super disappointed in how these shorts turned out. For one, nowhere in the product details does it say there's a brief liner (which I explicitly tried to avoid). I'm 5'6 athletic build and normally fit a M/L. Decided to go with an L and the fit is super weird. The band is way too big while the leg room is smaller which makes it look unflattering.

Liked the fit of these when trying on in store but if you're going to run in them, beware! They ride up in the front so bad and are then just as short as the 3 inch shorts (if not shorter). Nobody likes a front wedgie and made for a very uncomfortable run.

Fit is good, but quality is poor. Seam tore after the first use.
