I really wanted to keep these. Frye has weird sizing, inconsistent with other brands (should be sized DOWN). I typically wear 7.5 boots in order to wear a thin sock. All my shoes are size 7or 38 Euro. My size 38 Pikolinos fit like a glove. I was curious, so I measured them (10"L x 3.25"W) vs. size 7.5 Frye boots (10 5/8"L x 3 7/8"W). These Fryes are too narrow across the widest part of my foot - hurt to wear, even after wearing around the house for hours (no change). This makes NO sense!! Yes, they are different styles but size should be size. Also FYI, the distressed "black" really is quite brown in spots.

I completely disagree with all these reviews. I wear an 8-8.5 and the 8.5 was so small there was no way I could wear them. I’m waiting on a size 9 to arrive but I’m skeptical that even a half size up is enough. Fingers crossed!

Still trying to decide whether or not to keep these. The 7.5 length seems okay; however, one boot is so tight around the toe box that it may not fit even if stretched. The leather is extremely stiff at this part. For reference, my larger foot measures 8 7/8" around directly over the bunion, vs. my smaller foot (no bunion) 8 3/4" around. My left foot is totally happy (this is often the case, sadly) but the right is squeezed. I searched boot stretching, even specific to Frye boots and found conflicting answers. Some say they aren't meant to stretch in the toe box, only the instep and ankle. I'll update this review after I decide. Also, FYI the toe area is reinforced, I imagine for protection. The "black" distressed leather color is dark brown in spots and quite scuffed, so they really do look broken-in. I wonder what they'd look like after a good coat of Obenauf's leather protector (awesome stuff, highly recommend).

Spot on for size 9. 4/5 stars as the toe of the boot was smooth leather and the rest pebbled. I would have preferred all pebbled.

Keeping. Excellent quality and style. The harness unsnaps allowing you to zip the boot. They do start snug, but I've worn another version of this style before. My past experience is that the leather stretches and relaxes to a perfect fit. I use a shoe horn initially to avoid breaking down the heel.

Who doesn't love Frye boots? They were comfortable straight out of the box, and the break-in period was minimal for my often unhappy feet. The only downfall is the leather scratches easily.

These boots are BREATHTAKINGLY gorgeous and so comfortable. I love that the boot opening is just the right circumference for tucking skinny jeans into. The harness unsnaps near the zipper for easier on and off (but I have lower arches, so I rarely ever use the snaps). I've wanted harness boots like this for years but I never cared for the Phillip silhouette, so I'm glad Frye introduced this style. I love the moto look, and will alternate between these and the Engineer 8R.

True size 9! These fit like a glove. Love them!

The leather is buttery lovely! Softer than my previous Frye boots.

Beautifully made! but the zipper stops at the harness belt (halfway) and they are very difficult to put on.

The zipper does not go past the buckle making them hard to put on - negating the ease of wear with the zipper. Super cute though - bummer - I'm returning.
