Fit and size great. I wear a customized ankle brace and this pair accomodates this AZ brace.

I ordered a full size larger than my usual New Balance sneaker and it was too big. I will have to return. I recommend going up 1/2 size larger only as recommended on the website here. Great arch support in addition to my orthotic. Would like to see Zappos offer more sizes in wide width for New Balance.

Great that it's wide enough but I don't like the sole which is very stiff.

This NB sneaker could have been a 5 star in the right size, but it is a bit tight...crowds my toes... in my regular 8 1/2 medium size. I could return and order larger, but I am opting to keep the Black leather NB (using with my custom insole) and a pair of ArchFit Sketchers for cushy relief along with good support and will return the NB white sneaker. Shoes I wear must support my flat feet (especially my left) and stabilize my heel in order to support my left ankle that our orthopedic docs feel needs fusion surgery. I wrap the ankle sometimes or use one of a couple velcro ankle braces, and I have discovered that a compression arch band, along with a pair of graduated compression sport socks (or knee high graduated compression hose) all work together to keep me walking an moving. New Balance has models that work, as does Vionic and Merrell makes an an ankle high hiking shoe that is very stabilizing and supportive. Some ankle boots work if I use my custom arch support insole or Orthaheel insert.

This style—-847–runs small. Suggest ordering 1/2 size larger than you normally wear in sneakers.

The front of the foot felt great which is normally the key for me being able to buy a shoe ( I have orthotics & no toes so that place where my orthotic ends and my foot begins is hard to fit in a comfortable in a shoe). I happily started walking around but my heal kept slipping up. I kept walking around wondering if I could deal with it because the front felt so good. Maybe my orthotics are too thick, I am not sure. I really like the look of the shoe as well.

Nice shoes but the length runs short. I had to return. My toes were touching top in my normal 7.5 so I exchanged for 8 and the toe box was still too short so I returned again. Otherwise I like them.

I loved the look of these shoes and while my right foot was happy, my left foot with the bunion was not. There was not enough room for deformed large toe to sit on top of the neighboring toe. I hated to send them back because they would be perfect with a little more toe space.

These sneakers fit well and are comfortable. I have wide feet and high arches and they accommodate my orthotics which few sneakers do. My only complaint is that the previous version had leather on top of the front of the sneaker and now it's all material. So in cold weather your feet are colder and in rainy weather they are wetter than with the previous version of this sneaker.

Compared to other 4E shoes, this one is a little on the snug size. The shoe laces could be a bit longer for a 4E shoe.

The shoe felt good at the heel and toe width but was noticeably shorter than my other New Balance of the same size. Photo shows an 8.5 990 (left) next to the 8.5 847 (right) for size comparison.

The 847 v4 (on the left in photo) (on right is the 840) is shorter than the older 847 (center) I have. The older 847 is a 13 narrow. I ordered a 13 medium because I need a little more room — too bad the medium was shorter than the narrow shoe. The 840 seems like it might work. The 847 is a walking shoes on SL2 last. The 840 is a runner on SL2 last.

Hurt my feet after 4 hours.

Can the inside of a shoe actually have too much padding, causing it to hurt? That was my experience with the 847 with the padding that touches right under the ankle bone. I kept them on for an hour or so and walked around the house to see how they felt after having them on for awhile. The padding under the ankle is kind of hard. It put too much pressure on the tendon and caused a lot of soreness so I can't wear them. Otherwise it's a great shoe with a roomy toe box and good rollbar support. If I were to keep the shoe I would have to remove that padding. If I can't find another shoe that works for me I might consider that, but for now I'll keep looking. Wish they would make this in better colors, like a nice gray without those aqua highlights that clash. Something more neutral would be nice. The off-white color is just too white for me and the pink is not a very pleasing shade. I'm going to try the Brooks Addiction Walker. One last thing, the 847 runs a full size smaller than normal.

I had to go a full size up in this and that is the perfect fit. I originally ordered my normal size, 6M, and it was too small all over. Ordered the 7M and it is just right. Not crazy about the bright blue accents. I like subtle blue-grays but not these bright aqua accents. Some reviews said the colors are subtle so I ordered based on that. Other reviews said bright. They are right. Should have listened to them. These bright aquas don't go with anything I wear so I'm returning. Might try the light color, not sure. Overall, a great fitting, comfortable, supportive shoe, with a nice thick tongue (not too short as in many shoes), long laces (also too short in many shoes) and nice depth too. They just need more attractive, neutral colors that go with everything -- like a nice gray or black suede, or navy nubuck.

I've always worn a 7N, and I've worn New Balance shoes for years. I don't know whether my feet are spreading as I get older, but New Balance shoes don't seem to work any longer for me in a 7N (although I still wear a 7N in other brands). After ordering this shoe in a 7N and limping outside (unfortunately) because my toes were cramped, I reordered in a 7.5N. Although the 7.5N feels much better, I can still feel the end of the shoe.

Toe box was miserably uncomfortable. Always size up half a size in walking shoes. These didn’t even come close to fitting. Even after sizing up the toe box was extremely uncomfortable.

I like the way this sneaker looks. The toe room was tight and long tongue chafed the top of my foot. I am returning.

I'm so sad these 847 v4 didn't work out. Why is it so hard to find athletic shoes. These are really small, they fit a full size smaller. The outer sole feels very hard, just walking around my living room. I've never tried a New Balance with the roll bar technology, and it feels like it's making me pronate more. Like there's too much on the lateral side to help those who supinate.

I’m disappointed in New Balance, my usual fitness shoe. This shoe is clunky on my narrow foot, feels heavier than typical, and makes my foot look like a clown’s foot. New Balance PLEASE make true narrow shoes in high quality. I don’t mind paying if they are well made and consistently sized.

I thought 847v4 would be great for walking. Wrong, its heavy and hard. Not for me

So cheap feeling for the price, not comfortable at all, very flat foot bed.
