I read all these positive reviews and wanted a synthetic insulated jacket so I picked one up. I find myself wanting to wear it all the time, even when it's really too warm for it I've just been wearing it as an outer layer with lighter base layers. I run fairly cold, so for me it's good as a mid insulating layer under a shell down to maybe high single digits Fahrenheit. For years I wore size large, which is a bit much as I'm kind of slim, but with long arms it was better than sleeves riding up. I love that I can get a medium in this jacket and it actually fits around my chest but is long enough for my monkey arms. Hood fits well, it's been durable so far, highly recommend.

I've had this for two winters and have put it through the test of mild to extreme cold temperatures. At temperatures around zero it stays comfortable during light activity at temperatures below -20 it keep you warm enough to ignore the cold. Add a shell and cold weather doesn't seem to matter. On the coldest of days this has been my new go to gear, replacing a heavier insulated shell simply because it is so comfortable.

This is a quality base layer jacket for skiing or simply wearing around town when it's chilly out.

I wore this jacket for two and a half months straight in the Rocky Mountains, December-February. With a Rho AR Zip Neck base layer, I spent 6-8 hours in low to moderate activity daily in 10 degrees F to 30 degrees F. It was my most useful article of clothing. Fantastic quality.

Excellent warm synthetic jacket. Warmer than any down jackets I've owned, but also as light and packable. Would HIGHLY recommend. Well worth the money.

I bought this jacket nearly 8 months ago now. Used through All fall/winter. Perfect lifestyle jacket, for warmth and even when getting caught in light showers. Performs Perfectly as an outer layer or even under my hard shell. The fit does not restrict any movement, has enough room for a baselayer/fleece underneath also.

After doing a lot of research this jacket came up top of my list! It is light and incredibly warm! I wor a t-shirt under it in a blizzard and still felt warm. It's soft to touch yet very durable, I wanted a one jacket that did it all and this is it!

Best all around jacket. I can wear this jacket in Toronto from cold fall to all the way to spring. Jacket is so light and comfortable that although I have longer and thicker jackets for winter, I see myself choosing this jacket over others and just wear a warmer sweater inside. Worth every penny.
For size, I used to wear small size for Canada Goose but medium fits me well for Arc'teryx. Also good size to layer inside.

Recently purchased this jacket to replace an older version. What more can I say, season after season the old favorites come out. Incredible under a shell, versatile as a standalone on milder days. The newer version reminds me of my first atom; looser cut, chin guard, generally feels like more value for your dollar. I put these pieces through their paces year after year, never fails. Long winter days spent outside working, always feel comfortable and warm. I really do struggle to find brands that meet their standards. Buy one, it's a great investment, no need for heavy oversized coats.

I purchased an Atom LT over 10 years ago and absolutely love it. I'm still using it for fall and spring weather. This year I decided to purchase the Atom AR to add to my collection. Just as lightweight as the LT but much warmer. I really like the new zipper system and the fabric compared to the LT I own. Definitely recommend this jacket!

I bought this jacket and used it on walks all through the winter. It kept me warm wearing only a tshirt underneath down to 20 degrees Fahrenheit.

Since i picked up an atom ar over a year ago, it has become one of my facorite jackets. I can use it in anything from 30F to 5F with just a motus ar and a t shirt. It cuts the wind really well but still maintains good breathability. The dwr has no issues with light precipitation.

My fianc and I absolutely love all of Arc'teryx products. We got each other the Atom AR Hoodies for each other for Christmas and they do not disappoint. The jackets for perfectly and are not too heavy or too light. We've worn them on all of our cooler weather hikes lately and plan on taking on our backpacking trip in the mountains in September. I highly recommend not only this product, but the company in general to all my friends! Thanks for another great product!

I've had this jacket for over a year now and it's my go-to jacket in the winter. I admittedly run hot, but there are very few days in the winter in Alberta that I feel are too cold for this jacket, especially with a fleece or sweater under it. The inside feel is very comfortable and wind and water resistance is also good. This jacket is great!

So I spent a long time researching for the right jacket to get. I've used arcteryx in the past with great results but this was my first personal purchase. I bought this for my girlfriend because we both realized after a winter camping trip that we do t have the best cold weather gear. I was hesitant to purchase because it is pretty expensive. But the decision was well worth it. Ordered the rhapsody in a small and it fits her perfect. She is 5'5 140 lean athletic build and is a good form fit without being too tight. Room for a couple base layers. The color is also not as shiny and leans slightly into a marooning color which looks great. She had worn it in 20 degree weather no problem and the water repellent works great as she has worn it during fairly heavy showers. If your teetering on the decision , do it. Buy once, cry once. You won't be disappointed.

I've had this jacket for a year and I absolutely love it. It's always in my pack whether it's a short hike or a multi-day backpack. It also wears well around town. For how warm this jacket is, how light it is is quite surprising. I love that I don't have to worry about down flattening with the synthetic insulation. The only con is that the outer fabric is quite fragile and you have to be careful. I have a few small rips at the bottom of the rear of the jacket, probably from sitting on rocks or something similar.

I purchased this to use primarily under a shell snowboarding/skiing; however, this season there were no days I really needed it as a midlayer. The jacket by itself is very warm. I'm 5'10", 170, athletic build and bought a medium. I have a LT in a large that fits perfectly as a midlayer (or alone) but went medium AR because I was concerned about the added insulation under a shell. The AR also fits great - Slightly snug on the chest (which isn't bad) but not under the arms or anywhere else.
The hood fits well, adjusts easily and is not bulky under a shell, but obviously not meant to go under a helmet.

I love the versatility of this jacket! It works wonderfully as a wind-resistant layer paired with a fleece for backpacking and everyday use, but it also layers beautifully underneath a hard shell for more impactful sports. It's also a great standalone piece for days you don't need multiple layers.
