Wore these for 5 days straight in Iceland in early november. didn't do any snow climbing, just light trekking and got hit with a lot of rain and waterfalls. extremely durable, water repellent and comfortable. the fleece lining makes these perfect for colder weather

The Short length pants are always always out of stock. Get the hint Arcteryx? Seems like you should make these a limited release. I finally snagged a pair..miracle

I wear these pants almost everyday in the winter, and a lot in the fall. They are warm, but not too warm, and protect me from the basic elements. They're great just to throw on over a pair of shorts for commuting. I can't wait until they're back in stock to purchase another pair.

I bought these last fall, and lived in them all winter long. Perfect for all outdoor activities - running, snowshoeing, riding, dog walking. I had been searching for a pant like this for a long time, so glad to have finally found a pair that fit well and work!

I bough a pair of Gamma MX pants in 2019. I have been using it as my go to pants in winter when out for hiking and photography trip. Unfortunately, it seems like the Gamma MX pants line is discontinued or something. Hard to find one with the right size in the market right now.

The Gamma MX pants are everything I was hoping for when I bought them. More than satisfactory for all the time I've spent in them.
I bought these for work. I work on mountain for a mega ski resort. I don't really jive with the heavy, slightly insulated hard shells they provide. I am impressed by both the warmth and durability. Everything just seems to bounce off of these things, whether it be snow, tree limbs, etc. Skiing in them is quite comfortable. If the chill in the air is cold, 0-30F, I pair them with a base layer. They are warm on their own any temp above 35F.
I've also gotten at least 40 or so hours in on the skintrack with these. Very breathable, and I haven't overheated in them. They aren't ski specific, but even ski edges haven't even touched the inside of the lower cuffs when touring. You can fit them around the Velcro strap and calf buckle on your AT boots w no problems. I own the Gamma AR pants as well, and the MX's are a better ski touring pant than those since the lower leg cuff is just slightly wider. Can't wait to test these on ice and alpine rock, I know they will shine.
For reference, I am 6 foot and 168 lbs, and medium is a perfect fit.

Since I already have winter hiking pants (Sigma AR), I was reluctant to purchase these that was recommended to me by Arc'teryx. But I am so happy I did! Just tested them out this past weekend hiking in sub 20 temps. They are soft and not crinkly at all. I like how there are reinforced low thigh pockets on both legs. They kept me warm (and extra warm when I put rain pants over just to test out). Best is that they came in a 00-31 (I am 5'5" < 100lbs) so they actually fit with plenty of space for thermals underneath and still loose but not overly so.
I wish Arc'teryx would make more 00 sizes in their clothes!

Now that I've lived with these pants for a few days and put them to the test, I can happily say that I love them. They are warm, comfortable and fit well. Honestly though, my Arc'teryx experience began with customer support. I had questions and my French speaking, transplant to Vancouver, attendant, was awesome. The support alone is enough to keep me coming back. I do have a request. Not all of us are 5'10" with a 30" waist. I'm only 5"7" with a 31" waist. Maybe my mother ate a Twinkie when she was pregnant with me - who knows - I just didn't get the height. That means, I didn't get the 31"+ inseam. So here's the request, make more of the short version. Maybe you can even allow us to request an item and you can batch make them once a month. This is good for everyone including the folks making the pants. Give them some variety. I'm sure that they wouldn't mind making something other than the same old thing everyday. Seriously, establish a program for us short people. We're just as good as you taller folks with the washboard stomachs. I can still hike with the best of them. These are great pants. Size does, however, matter.

I bought these pants about a month ago and I love them! I live in Northern BC and I wear them all the time for walking the dog, running errands, hiking, and adventuring. There is a soft, fleecy-ish lining that makes these quite warm while repelling the cold. They don't attract dog hair (phew!) and are really warm for those windy -15C mornings. They are the perfect pair of winter pants and I wear them multiple days a week.
I got a size 2, I am about 130lbs, 5'6", and have about a 26-28" waist. There is enough room for me to wear a pair of longjohns underneath for those really cold mornings (it will be snug, but will work).

I just received the pants and can't wait to wear it! They are so well made, they look very durable! They don't look bulky and the soft fleece inside just makes them more cozy. I am looking forward to wear them in cold weather! I am 5'4 and 130 lbs and 4-31 is perfect.

Exactly what I've been looking for - a soft shell with lining. I wear them on their own now in the fall temps, will add base layer when it gets cooler. Can use them for everything, great product!

This is a great pant for outdoor adventuring or everyday use around town when the weather is cool, freezing, windy, light rain, snowy or all if the above! I have had one pair for 6-7 years and loved it so much I recently purchased a second pair so I can wear them more often and extend their life. My original pair has held up very nicely through lots of use and many, many washes. The only wear that shows is the cuff on the heels is starting to tatter but this is a more of a personal issue than a design because I have a shorter inseam but have the regular length pants. Just need to remember to use the drawstring so I don't step on them.
I live in Alaska and tend to wear them October - April in cool fall weather, stormy windy winter days, to sub 0F temps with baselayers underneath.
Uses: Hiking, snow shoeing, winter camping, dog mushing, winter time around town errands, Nordic skiing.
Fit: A little large and baggy for size, which allows comfortably earring base layer underneath in very cold weather. The new model is a little snugger in the crotch (my wife likes it) than the older models but still loose in the legs.
Pros: Blocks wind, sheds dry snow/ice, warm but not too much for higher activity in cold temps, durable, stretchy and moves well with you.
Cons: Gets water saturated in heavy rain or wet snow conditions...but hey that's what Gore-Tex Pro Shell pants are for. The new version also has gotten rid of the protective instep patch.
Also the Short inseam sizes never seem to be in stock which is a bummer cause that's what I really need!

Needed some addition to all my light Arc'teryx summer pants and this one does an impressive job. Great fit, useful hem adjuster and hook. Used them just above 0C in the mountains already and found them still warm enough.

I bought my first pair of Gamma MX around end of 2020. I have been wearing the Gamma MX Pant for at least 11 years. I like the new revised pant, pant because it is a much better fit and all the pockets I need! I get mine alterated so I can use them for everyday wear or casual dress. A contractor in Vietnam manufactures the pant; this is the original manufacturer of the first "revised design" pant and they give the same good quality this year. I am impressed with the tough & technical construction of the pant. I wear the same pant for six months; the pant never becomes tattered or torn, but they do begin to look old/worn. These are are tough as nails; it is virtually impossible to damage the pant without damaging yourself, because the pant is made of a strong, stretchy elastic material.

Indestructibly fabulous. Stick them on first thing every day until the suit goes on. Used in every sport. Great for skiing under my Beta SV pants (red, such a shame you don't do that colour any more). Hiking, stylish enough for urban use. Perfect for golf - check out the pic on Scottish links! I'd buy another pair in a heartbeat if only Arc'teryx would make some! Hurry up, Arc'teryx!

These are my favorite pants for active movement in cold/snow weather! They are so comfortable, warm and allow for movement in deep snow. They are warm on their own for fall and winter. But I run cold, so I pair with a base layer and am so happy on the snowy trails! They are wide enough at the hem so that your snow/hiking boots can easily slide over. The rhapsody color is so classy too!

They fit perfectly and great for cold weather, add an extra layer if it's really cold, they breathe and they feel great. I'm really satisfied

I've worn the Gamma MX pant in -15 degree weather with the Arc'teryx RHO AR bottoms and I was very comfortable. Very wind and water resistant. The Gamma MX pant is very well made and they are easy to wash. Great pant.....don't change a thing

I have had a pair of these pants in mens medium for many years. These are my go-to pants whenever it starts getting pretty cold out in the desert. With the fleece lining they feel warm against your skin pretty much immediately so they are the perfect pants to jump out of bed and immediately put on to start warming up.
These are the pants I most like to climb multipitch in when its cold out. The fall and winter are relatively mild in Red Rock Canyon, NV, but having these is really nice to not get too cold while belaying on multipitch climbs. They often get a little too hot on the hike in where I'm going fast with a moderately heavy pack of gear, but I'm willing to deal with that discomfort to not be cold later. (If I was smart I'd hike and freeze in running shorts then switch to these when I get to the base of the climb) With all the abuse I have given them I have only had to patch a few small rips in the additional thigh pockets. Frankly I'm surprised that is all. They have held up very well.
I feel like these have a pretty wide comfort range. I can wear them inside when its about 68-70F and not be dying from being too hot, and I can wear them by themselves outside when its around freezing without any under layer and be comfortable as long as I'm moving around a bit to generate heat and have appropriate top layers (typically baselayer top and Fortrez Hoody).
When I purchased them originally they didn't have extra options for short and long sizes, so I'll be purchasing another pair in medium-short as soon as they are back in stock. At 5'6" in medium-regular (old model) I feel like I need to cuff the bottom of them a bit so they don't drag on the ground. Un-cuffed, in rock climbing shoes they will definitely get stepped on under my heel.
I have skied in them as well when temps and weather were mild. I think I remember having a baselayer under them. Top was baselayer and the Gamma MX hoody on one ocassion. For skiing fitting the leg openings around the ski boots was a very tight fit. I get the impression they are more designed for fitting around boots for ice climbing though, so whatever.
I'd love to see more of a "Gamma MX Rock" pant developed as well. Same fleece lined fabric, more or less the same features, perhaps a bit of reinforcement on the knee, maybe a slightly more trim fit. Major difference I would like to see is fixed leg openings. As long as short, regular, and tall sizes are available it should work out fine. When lead climbing I have had the leg cinch adjustment get caught in a carabiner at least once, which was a major headache, and a few other times on hikes getting caught on branches... Me having to cuff these pants probably greatly contributed to this, but it could be something to keep in mind.
When I was at work chatting to a customer about favorite climbing pants for winter I mentioned these (which I was wearing at the time) and a guide friend overheard and said she was wearing them and loves them too.
They are really good and I can't wait to try the new version. (Please get them back in stock in short sizes soon)

I wear the Gamma Mx Pant as I would a pair of jeans. I wear them everyday and at the end of six months, I get a new pair. I sit on the ground, on concrete, I wear them in heavy rain and I have even worn them with a sport coat. I congratulate Arc'teryx for re-designing the pockets,...IT'S ABOUT TIME!

These are amazing pants work very well for skiing with another layer and hiking just as is. They are three season pants except summer when they are too warm. My current pair are several years old made with Polartec and they are still perfect shape. No sure if they are using Polartec yet. They are water resistant and breathable. I am 6 ft, 230 and I wear a large and they fit perfect. I have 36 waist and 30 inseam and they fit perfectly. The Cargo pockets are amazing and zipper front top pockets are perfect. Wish they had two rear zipper low profile pockets for functionality. Need to add the khaki color and stop making your products in China because I fear the quality will suffer.

I have been wearing this Item since it was made in Canada. Great pant; I wear them on horse hunting trips and they are very comfortable getting in the saddle and while riding. They do tend to snag on any protruding buckles so one has to be careful while mounting and dismounting.
Warm, water resistant and relatively quiet.
My first pair lasted ten years with an average of 300 walking miles a year .They are pretty trashed but I love them.(Made In CANADA) back then.

This is the perfect winter softshell. The balance of wind protection, breathability, and water/snow resistacne is outstanding.
Warn while hiking and snowshoeing in the Bavarian Alps, and while x- country skiing in Michigan makes evident the moisture management abilities. Moderate Rain and Snow did not have me reaching for my hardshell.
Fit is outstanding, I'm 5'11" @ 170lbs with a 32" waist and 34" inseam and the Medium Regular fits perfect. Worn alone or with a base layer, the movement is totally unrestricted.
Features layout and pockets are great, one zipper, and one velcro makes glove and hat change quick.
Herron Color is fun, and yet timeless.

I wear these pants year round and have had them for 14 months. I wear them to work, hiking (city or wilderness), dining and out & about. I have pockets for everything that is essential; smartphone, credit cards, cash, sunglasses, extra car keys, ear buds,... What others put in a small backpack, I put in my pockets! I've spilled food and it comes off with a damp cloth. Liquids bead up and roll off. I wish Arc'teryx would make a light-weight pant using the same material, but without the insulation for summer wear,...if they don't, I'll keep wearing these year round. I wear the same pants everyday; I just change shirts. I wear these pants like they were jeans and they are "more" durable than jean material. I do not own an iron, and yet all of my clothes look as though they are pressed. I get a seamstress to adjust the length and remove the adjustable pant cuff drawcord to make them acceptable for office and casual wear.
