I'll start off by stating I'm taller then I imagine Arc'teryx designs clothing for . That being said at 6'7" 245 lbs 46" chest and 37" waist. I find they always a couple of there shell jackets that fit me better then a tailored blazer. The atom lt so far seems well built and a perfect mid layer for fall activities around the west coast . But on my frame the jacket like most of there mid layers is a tad short in the sleeves and high cut in the body . I just wish a company this big could offer at least one mid layer in and xl tall or perhaps xxl slim . We're not all big "and " tall

Lightweight, form fitting. Layers well under a shell and sleeves fit well inside gloves. Runs a half size or so small in my opinion, tight in the armpits for fitting over thicker under layers, a bit short. I am 5'9", 135 pounds, wearing size 4-6 in pants depending on how tight I want them. Most shirts I get small unless I'm going for something baggy. The small jacket was very short and pretty tight. Returned for a medium and it is a much better fit. A bit longer and looser, but still quite form fitting and feels a bit too tight in the armpits if I want to layer over thicker fleece. Sleeves end at my wrists -perfect to tuck into gloves, but I can't fit my hands down in the sleeves on a cold day. Overall the fit is ideal for layering over thinner under layers by itself on cool days or with a shell and gloves on top. The hood will barely go over my ski helmet, but it's doable.

I've watched so many people get this jacket in my small mountain town over the seven years that I've been (kinda) in the outdoor industry. I admit that my refusal to succumb to the norm and get an Atom was partially just to be different than everyone else around. I tried a few other lightweight synthetic insulated jackets from various outdoor brands and then after I'd gotten rid of yet another one that did a little more than I needed but didn't quite do everything I wanted one of the Atom LTs (figuratively) fell into my lap. I'll qualify this by saying that I'm a hooded sweatshirt lover. I have more "non-technical" hoodies than I can wear in one week. I haven't been getting out as much as I need to lately, spending a lot of time in town and not nearly enough out in the woods. So what's important to me? A good fit, loose enough to have a base layer or even a t-shirt on underneath and a hood that doesn't get blown off walking into the wind. Oh yeah, and pockets to stick my hands in when I forget my gloves for around town walking. On all of these the Atom LT delivers. The fit of a medium-including the hood-is perfect for my 5'8", 160 lb frame. I can wear it everywhere in the Spring, Fall and even now into the early winter days. I'm a convert. Just one thing. My keys and phone fall out of the hand pockets. ALL. THE. TIME. This doesn't happen on any of my other down/insulated jackets. I know I could zip them up. And I do now. Most of the time. But I feel like there is a slight tweak that could be made so that my phone isn't falling out of my pocket every time I lean over. Just sayin'. Give it a try though. You won't be disappointed.

In general, I am happy with this jacket and I do get compliments on it. I find the sleeves slightly long. I feel the cuffs on my hands when I would prefer they wrap around my wrists. The back of the jacket seems to have too much material and looks baggy at times. The hood gives a funny egg shape when worn.

I've got the Atom and Cerium, and I would recommend spending the extra money to get the Cerium. It's markedly lighter and warmer. Atom does not feel as nice to wear, as well. Some may say that the synthetic performs better when wet compared to down, but given down performs so much better overall I don't feel the synthetic any warmer in damp/wet conditions.

I really love this coat for winter time use around town. It is extremely versatile and keeps me warm on most days in Seattle. In addition, it handles most rain conditions (except heavy storms) quite well. And you can use it as a layer beneath a rain shell too. The main issue I have, which isn't critical, is the pockets. First off, the pockets could be a tad larger, especially the inner vest one. The other concern is that the pockets are even with the bottom of the zipper instead of being recessed a little. This has caused things (e.g., wallet, iPhone) to accidentally fall out a few times when I didn't close the zipper. I've had issues with pockets in Arc'teryx pants/shorts before so I guess maybe I should just expect inferior pockets in their products. Hopefully, they can make improvements here in next years model. But I really love this coat and can deal with the minor pocket issues.

Bought my first atom 3 years ago. To be honest, I probably bought it cause of all the reviews, but the fit wasn't great. Over time I noticed the skirt on the back of the jacket kept folding up. It was almost as if the jacket was made with just a tad short of material. This past year I saw the new colors and really liked the nighthawk scheme so I decided to go to the store and give it a try. To my surprise the jacket fit amazing and the back didn't fold up. Now I have 2 but don't really wear my first hoody that much. Not sure if the cutting varies year to year or that I just have a defective one. i pretty much wear the atom all year round. Great product.

Great overall jacket. Like a Swiss Army knife it can basically do everything very well. Can be worn on its on on not overly cold days, or layered under shells for skiing on some pretty cold days. Great jacket to add to any collection. I wear it the most out of all my Arcteryx mid layers. Great purchase, would easily recommend to anyone.

After 3 years of use putting about 150 days on it outdoors, this is an amazing jacket, but one that lacks durability in certain areas... namely the back... The insulation of the jacket has gone "soft" in most of the jacket, but has gone very "flat" in the back area... most probably because of wearing a pack... Coreloft is cool technology, but now the key will be finding ways to make it more durable in high wear areas without compromising too much weight...

I have had the Atom LT for two years, for which I have used it for various activities in each season. This certainly speaks to the Atom LT's adaptability and overall optimality for insulation. Whether as a midlayer for resort skiing or cold winter days, an outer layer for autumn or winter hiking, snowshoeing, or an all-around jacket, this jacket looks, feels, and acts as you would expect. During moderate-high intense activities, such as vigorous snowshoeing, backcountry, or winter hiking, I find the Atom LT is too heavy to quickly dissipate heat as a midlayer with a shell jacket. Unless the wind is especially nasty or there is wet precipitation, the jacket does an admirable job in providing warmth and wind protection. I wish the fabric was a bit more breathable to prevent sweat and heat build-up. I am 5'10" and 150 lbs, and I take a medium. I believe the small could fit me as well, and would be more appropriate for layering, but the medium allows me to wear a variety of non-technical clothing underneath the atom. The hood is warm and easily adjustable, but without it being tightened, it feels too loose and large when its not in use or simply covering my head. I feel that adjusting the position of the cords, or introducing a secondary set of cords near the chin-face of the hood would allow for better adjustments. I have taken good care of my Atom jacket, and very careful to cover it with a hardshell in environments where excess abrasion is likely. However, this year I have seen the fabric fray and become 'weared' out, making the jacket less than ideal aesthetically. Many small fabric strands dot the arms and hood of my jacket. I am curious of new versions of jacket have a more durable fabric. Overall, a great jacket that is neither a specialist nor deficient in any particular category. Practical, warm, and effective. Durability and fit could be improved, with possibly more breathability in the jacket's main body.

This is a really great jacket with a little room for a couple of improvements. I recommend this jacket to everybody. It's lightweight, good for layering, etc. I literally wear this jacket everyday from November to March. The room for improvement is mainly focused on the zipper. If something could work "too good", it's this zipper. I was riding my bike on a long down hill section this past winter, and the wind caused the jacket to unzip and then just flap in the wind until I could stop and rezip it. The Cerium LT has a locking zipper ... that's literally the only thing this jacket lacks in quality! My fingernails easily catch on the seams inside the sleeves. I don't keep my fingernails unusually long, but twice now, as I've been putting the jacket on, the seams have snagged. I've had to go in with a needle and carefully put the thread back into place so that it doesn't fit weirdly. As far as stain resistance, this jacket is great. I was a little worried a month ago because I told my Wilderness First Responder class, and during one of our scenarios, I had to lay in the mud for three hours. I got it home that night and yes, I had to wash it twice, but nothing stained. Overall, great jacket, just please give us locking zippers. :)

I love the way this jacket fits, very true to Arc'teryx sizing. I'm 5'6, 135lbs with broad shoulders and wear a M in pretty much all Arc'teryx Jackets and this fits no different. Its trim, but I can easily fit another fleece underneath if I need extra warmth. My only complaint is that the facing used for the hand pockets and the hem is really stiff and noisy. The whole jacket is really dialed, except for this.

I have previously shied away from bulky mid layer insulation as I like to train and travel fast and light. I chanced upon a YouTube review of this piece and knew I had to take a look. I am glad that I did as the jacket offers low bulk, great articulation and a trim fit. The side panels are great at exhausting heat. It's a great all rounder and I've even used it in on a couple of mtb rides. The only downsides are the elasticated cuff and the internal pocket zipper. I had to warranty replace my first jacket as the stitching and seam tore. Needs to be beefed up or reconfigured for the next iteration. The pocket zipper pull is one sided. Difficult to use if you stuff the jacket into the internal pocket. A double sided puller would be better here. It's a great core piece. I would definitely stock up with a few of them if my two gripes could be resolved!

I use this jacket when running trails with one lightweight wool base layer at 25 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. It remains warm and light throughout a six mile run. This jacket will snag easily when brushed up against a ruff surface like a trees or bush. The snag looks terrible and is a bummer when it happens. So you have to be careful when wearing it as an outer layer. I would not recommend wearing when walking through tall brush. Also the front zipper does not lock very well and unzips frequently when running (really frustrating). I noticed on the website a locking zipper is being used so perhaps I have defective one.

Absolutely love this jacket, warm without being bulky, fits nicely under outer jackets but warm enough to wear on its own at some pretty low temperatures.

This is turning out to be my favorite lightweight insulated jacket. Medium fits perfect (5'9", 155# . It is a nice trim fit and perfect sleeve length. Material is durable, yet lightweight. Very warm considering how light the jacket is. Couple of minor things: The side panels are nice for breathability and movement; however, they are not windproof whatsoever. A windstopper fabric would solve this problem while also allowing flexibility and breathability. Also, there appears to be no "pocket" for storage as described. I realize you can stuff it into the sleeve #or the hood), but I bought the jacket thinking it had a stuff "pocket" as the description states. Otherwise, I love this jacket and highly recommend it.

I purchased my first Arc'teryx jacket last year: the Gamma. I loved the fit, especially around the arms/body. It's a real active jacket. As winter arrived in Scotland I wanted something warm as an every day jacket: around town and although I do the odd Munro in the summer I'm by no means an extreme weather adventurer. Having read various reviews I went for the Atom as it's extremely lightweight, comfortable and most importantly keeps me warm. The best part is the fit: you don't feel like you are wearing 5 tops, it's extremely free and ideal for someone active. It also looks pretty cool in the blue. For those of you who haven't felt coreloft its like a thin sleeping bag material. Similar with other jackets the hood is made for helmets which can be frustratingly large, but the elastic keeps it on! One pointer for those wanting something as an every day jacket is that I do feel the cold when the wind picks up and you have a wind chill factor. If its below freezing or close to it and there is wind then you need something else either on top or below. Overall a cracking jacket for something to keep you warm, yet not overheat in the warmer months.
