Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
This was the wrong coat entirely, from 2021, and it had a broken zipper.

I found this coat online and was so excited because I thought I had finally, after many years of searching, found a coat to replace my old, long, slim-fitting, very lightweight and amazingly warm coat from a competitor brand. I ordered the small (I am 5'5" and 125 pounds), and although the size fit perfectly, the pockets were much too high -- why design pockets on a women's coat that line up at the top with the chest area? When the pockets are open, they stick way out (looking like a muff from way back when!) and ruin the look of the coat, which otherwise would have been very flattering.
Not only do the high pockets look very strange, they are also not comfortable to use -- they go way down, which is great, but because they also go way up, you have to sort of direct your hands upward first in order to go down into the pockets. If you want to keep your hands in the pockets for warmth, it is not comfortable, as you need to hold your arms higher than a normal position (as if you're shrugging).
I exchanged the small for a medium, hoping that maybe a larger size would fall better, not gap so much, start lower down, etc., but it was only worse since the coat was just too big.
Maybe when this coat was designed it was tried on models with no chest and the pockets lay flat? If you do have a chest, though, it should be obvious that having the pockets start in that area would make it impossible for them to lie flat when open.
This is such a shame, since I otherwise would have been very happy with this coat (and could have even forgiven the fact that it did not zip all the way down) -- finally a slim-fitting, lightweight, water-resistant, supposedly very warm down coat with a very practical hood. Unfortunately, I am going to have to return it and keep searching, as the pockets are too weird and unflattering.
DisappointedNYC,
